That's the thing, unfortunately they aren't sequential. All engine types were thrown in I believe, so it's not even vr6 specific.

Both fan speeds working on both cars, was one of my checks! :thumbleft:

Oh, and I thought the ride quality was pretty good in comparison to my weitec coilovers! Lol

I replaced every component in my cooling system apart from sensors, and my clocks always read low (75-80) unless I'm sat in traffic or giving it serious beans in hot weather, and it'll go up like you're seeing Tony. Same as you, fans kick in and bring it under control. I had a mk3 valver and that stayed rock solid on 90 all the time as well. Keep an eye on oil temp though via the mfa just to be sure. I always have my oil temp displayed after said mk3 oil cooler failed on the A38, resulting in catastrophic engine overheating/failure! Didn't see the coolant temp rise until low level light came on, at which point it was too late!

I think supercharger rebuilds were recommended every 60k if it's on standard pulley as well. Smaller pulley = higher charger rpm which means shorter maintenance intervals for obvious reasons.

I don't care where in the world that is, with that mileage and if in good overall condition, that's a bargain! Definitely worth checking over though as low mileage cars can come with their own problems, especially if it was laid up for a long period.

Fair enough then. I just don't like them as they are. Only thing I noticed was that the helper springs are on the bottom rather than top. Pain in the arris getting the fronts back in after checking there was nothing additional I needed for those, as I couldn't get the spring compressors on. A firm push down and the wife putting on the lower nut was needed.

I did a quick Google search and others have said they are very firm too. PO said they were damping adjustable but I can see no way of adjusting them so think they are HICON GT. They are way too firm for me tbh, and I'm looking forward to fitting the B12s after having a ride in a VR with them fitted. Difference was night and day!

Attempted to fit the Bilsteins yesterday. No go unfortunately. Need a couple of bits for the rear as I didn't realise the bits on the coilovers were different from the standard setup, which the bilsteins use. (Dust covers, spacers etc). Finally got to the bottom of what suspension is fitted though! Seller told me they were FK Konigsports, but had my doubts, and assumed he'd thrown me a line and that they were actually cheap non branded ebay specials. These are what they actually are! Not cheap as it happens, but anybody thinking of purchasing them, I'd advise against. As said I thought they were ebay specials. After reading reviews I'm not alone on that. Far too firm for day to day driving, and I can't wait to get rid of em. Thats me then, Bilsteins will be fitted when I've refurbished/renewed the rest of the running gear. Car will be tucked up in the garage on Thursday for almost a year, after a final spirited drive!

Dave, I have a knackered set of Solitudes with cracked tyres. 3 have been poorly rubbed down and primered, and 1 is a bit green from nitromors. One doesn't hold air for very long either. They're yours for free, but a courier would have to be arranged as its probably too far to collect I assume? They're no better than scrap to be honest, so your unlikely to be able to sell them afterward. Let me know if you want them and I can pick them up on Wednesday.

Glad you're enjoying it and it's gone to an enthusiast Tony! Sounds like you've discovered some problems that I missed so apologies for that. Would have been good to see in the light and chat for longer too. Look forward to seeing how you progress with it mate. Oh, and some cracking cars you've had in the past too!

Tony, your has a D suffix. I put it in my car to diagnose my faulty abs but swapped it back after finding mine was good. -

I tested one with a 'D' suffix in my car, that came with an 'E'. Both worked as they should so I think they're interchangeable. -
Wow, thats in a pretty shocking state! Surprised the MOT station didn't pick that up. At least you've caught it now before something serious happened.
-
I had a nightmare doing this too Phil. In the end I just soaked them in oil, and used a large Screwdriver using the handle up against the bush and pulling the 'cough' shaft to pull the in. Awaits much sniggering.

Get on boy!

The gear knob doesn't look correct, should be leather......
-
Just had a look at an inflation calculator. 95 VR with optional leather delivered - just short of £40K!!!!!!!!
-
Ahh, hopefully this cures it then. My bad! :bonk:

Good to meet you Tony, sorry to hear about the problems. As mentioned in texts, I honestly didn't know about the wipers. They worked on the occasional test to clear screen and for MOT, and the battery although a little slow to start where it had been standing for a while and only one short run at MOT time, never failed to start the car after I charged it when I got the car. Gear mech - the C clip is in place, it probably just needs a little tweaking at the gearbox end. I had to change the cables and mech as I mentioned, but there is a guide in the wiki section on here for adjustment. The gearstick is naturally a little sloppy tbh, a Daves16v shortshifter helps a bit more though. Any problems give me a shout mate, I'll do what I can to help you out. :thumbleft: Edit: may have misread, was it the car battery or your phone battery??? lol

Its insurance bud, they change their mind on a weekly basis if it means they can get away with swindling a few more quid out drivers anyway!
-
Think its differs between insurers. Some require reports from a local valuer after you've taken the car to them, some will do it on photos and description/invoices of work carried out, and few will do it through mods on the CCGB I'd imagine.
-
In all seriousness, I'm sure there would be people local to you willing to lend a hand. Bear in mind the show season is just starting, so a few meets with like minded people could be good, who again I'm sure would be willing to give you a hand during the day/weekend or even give you some tips on how to do simple DIY jobs.

Do a Wayne and go on a UK tour for members to fix it for you, in exchange for a bag of fish and chips! :thumbleft:

Etch primer if you're doing bare metal as it will adhere better. It won't make any difference if you're just touching stuff up. As long as you key it properly it'll be fine. The stuff from VW comes in a twin pack with base coat and lacquer. Like I said not the cheapest (around £15 last time I bought it) for 150ml each tin. Just looked properly at the kit you put up, sorry it may be VW correct code, I just saw ford first! I've bought 3 times from Paints4U. First 2 were very good matches, Dragon Green and DBP, but the Classic Green I bought wasn't very good. White should be ok though.
