  1. Just had a look at an inflation calculator. 95 VR with optional leather delivered - just short of £40K!!!!!!!!
  2. Ahh, hopefully this cures it then. My bad! :bonk:
  3. Good to meet you Tony, sorry to hear about the problems. As mentioned in texts, I honestly didn't know about the wipers. They worked on the occasional test to clear screen and for MOT, and the battery although a little slow to start where it had been standing for a while and only one short run at MOT time, never failed to start the car after I charged it when I got the car. Gear mech - the C clip is in place, it probably just needs a little tweaking at the gearbox end. I had to change the cables and mech as I mentioned, but there is a guide in the wiki section on here for adjustment. The gearstick is naturally a little sloppy tbh, a Daves16v shortshifter helps a bit more though. Any problems give me a shout mate, I'll do what I can to help you out. :thumbleft: Edit: may have misread, was it the car battery or your phone battery??? lol

    Who's your insurer?

Its insurance bud, they change their mind on a weekly basis if it means they can get away with swindling a few more quid out drivers anyway!

    Who's your insurer?

Think its differs between insurers. Some require reports from a local valuer after you've taken the car to them, some will do it on photos and description/invoices of work carried out, and few will do it through mods on the CCGB I'd imagine.
  6. In all seriousness, I'm sure there would be people local to you willing to lend a hand. Bear in mind the show season is just starting, so a few meets with like minded people could be good, who again I'm sure would be willing to give you a hand during the day/weekend or even give you some tips on how to do simple DIY jobs.
  7. Do a Wayne and go on a UK tour for members to fix it for you, in exchange for a bag of fish and chips! :thumbleft:
  8. Etch primer if you're doing bare metal as it will adhere better. It won't make any difference if you're just touching stuff up. As long as you key it properly it'll be fine. The stuff from VW comes in a twin pack with base coat and lacquer. Like I said not the cheapest (around £15 last time I bought it) for 150ml each tin. Just looked properly at the kit you put up, sorry it may be VW correct code, I just saw ford first! I've bought 3 times from Paints4U. First 2 were very good matches, Dragon Green and DBP, but the Classic Green I bought wasn't very good. White should be ok though.
  9. Wayne, ford candy white is not the same as vw candy white. Your best bet is to get an aerosol from vw. It's not the cheapest but it'll be the best match possible. It comes with lacquer too.
  10. Rocker gasket and aux belt cost around £15 each, and both are easy DIY jobs mate. HG can be done for reasonable money if you take it to a specialist rather than VW. Certainly not worthy of being scrapped. Even a replacement engine would probably cost less than you'd imagine if you are comfortable doing some/all of the work yourself. Plenty of guides on here and over the web if you can do it over a period of time by yourself, or even rope a mate in. :thumbleft:
  11. Thanks all! Potentially 6 viewings over the weekend within 12 hours of going live. Should have advertised for more!
  12. Hi Dave, Friday or Sunday would be best. A couple of people on ebay want to view friday too, although no specific times have been set in stone yet. I'd suggest the earlier the better in case you want it, so I can let them know just in case they have to travel.
  13. It only illuminates on sidelights Wayne, perfectly normal.
  14. Thanks Chris. Had a couple of bites already! Its probably one of the cheapest VRs for sale at the moment which helps, and price doesn't reflect condition in this case imo. Its a good solid car which is ready to go! Roll up roll up!!!!!!
  15. Its not bad at all Chris! Much better than mine was when I got it! Just needed a little TLC, and lots of hours spent by me to bring it to standard! I'll let it go for what its cost me, which considering the hours I've put into it and the amount of spares I already had which I've not accounted for, means someone will get a real bargain. I'd never make a living out of selling cars I'll tell you!
  16. Here she is for sale. Favorable price for forum members, although I have a lower limit which is what it has cost me to get it ready for sale. Any questions let me know! :thumbleft: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321710999191?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  17. I'll go against the grain and say mine was perfectly intact. :thumbleft:
  18. Dubpower were redeveloping their system a while back. Someone on here was testing it, but can't remember who it was. The new one was attempting to be an exact replica of the OE one, although their original was pretty good, just not quite as sideways swept at the tail, and rolled at the end iirc. Worth a call/email to them though I reckon. They're reasonably priced too from what I remember. http://www.dubpower.co.uk/Corrado%20CAT%20back%20x.JPG
  19. Just get a flat bladed Screwdriver and try to leaver it off Wayne. It'll coff off eventually.
  20. Hi Adam, welcome to the forum! First of all, I think with your age it'd be worth checking out insurance as they are high insurance group. Classic policies can be had, but again because of your age, most won't allow it. The 2.0 8v and 1.8 or 2.0 16v would be cheapest for you. Have a look in the wiki section in general for the buying guide, and continue reading posts on here for a while to get a general feeling of what problems can occur. These cars are 20 year + old, so there will be problems. Good luck with your search, and if you do decide to take the plunge, be prepared to travel, and don't be impatient, the right one will come up eventually. :thumbleft:
  21. Doors are the same. Front bumper, lights, grille, bonnet, and wings are different between early and late.
