  1. I had to hide them from her when they arrived earlier James. Just had a quick look, removed them from and disposed of the mahoosive box, and put them neatly in the boot whilst she was in the bath so she'll never know!
  2. Shhhhhh! She's in the bath! Woop woop! :smug:
  3. Haha, I don't know how long I can hide it before taking them to the workshop. The parcel shelf is on top of the box, and the rear seats are half tilted forward! Lol
  4. It'll be a few weeks before they're fitted Sean. I'll update as soon as they are though. :thumbleft:
  5. They've arrived! Not opened them yet, missus is due back any minute so they're hidden in the car before she sees them!
  6. Not a fan at all. Appreciate the exclusivity of them, but it looks like a DIY cut and shut. Given that exclusivity also, why the owner has modified them - the mind boggles.

  8. It's very common for the matrix to leak when it gets old and brittle. A garage will be able to do it but you will pay in labour costs as it's very time consuming. You need to remove the dash to get to it. If you are comfortable with doing it yourself I'd suggest that mate.
  9. B12s marked as dispatched. Not done anything else lately. Headlining is out due to slight water ingress from sunroof. It's due to a kink in the O/S rear drain hose and was leaking on my head in heavy rain. Will sort it at the weekend. Other than that, just been enjoying it regularly! Needs a good clean though, she's filthy!
  10. It's just a mounting spike with a rubber shoe so to speak. It's likely coming from further up or fatigue/age has caused the plastic to crack. There are no drains or anything so it'll be new rad time for sure unless it's seeping from the top elbow or a hose. Not too expensive for a hella unit which are now probably the best available. OE are obsolete unfortunately. Jim beat me to it!
  11. There is an outlet on the turret side of the tank for pressure relief, sounds like the system is over pressurising. If you have a blue cap, most other problems that cause this are not good I'm afraid.
  12. Both good points, but, would I do it again............
  13. He has/had a ratted out caddy too. I saw that at a Devon area meet and I've got to admit, it did look great and he'd obviously spent a lot of time and money getting it perfect for that type of thing.
  14. I agree, and I get as much enjoyment out of tinkering as I do driving. I have however spent around 4 times as much as the purchase price, making it into a good car that it is today. I could have bought one in this condition for far less than my overall expenditure.
  15. Not entirely sure on pricing your side of the pond, but 4k Dollars would get you a reasonable, although not great car in the UK. The sort of problems you are describing would lead to a car worth half that price over here. As others have said, sounds like its likely to be a complete money pit, and a bit of a dog to be honest. I'd walk away if I were you mate.
  16. Have a good look first. Could be bulb or fuse, but the relay may have failed if its gotten wet.
  17. Actually I think that's wrong! The outer top door seal loops over and looks like it has a push clip to keep it in place. This is just a cover. Peel it off to reveal the screw!
  18. You need to remove the inner triangle Daren. There is a single screw hidden behind there. Once removed, the outer one should slide back and come out.
  19. Mk3 Golf 95 onward suspension fits. All GTI and VR6 models share the same setup I believe.
  20. The mk2 Golf hard type scuttle fits with a little tweaking around the ECU. Seen it a few times and it looks perfectly stock. If it's just the wiper motor, the passat B3? Uses the same motor and wiper mech, and has a small cover for the motor which cleans it up a little.
  21. I think I got my mirrors from them although not 100% as they didn't come with an invoice. Same background on the photo though. Mine arrived quickly and apart from using my old backing plate so having to get the dremel out as pins are in a different position, the fit is perfect.
  22. Probably just ignition system arching due to the water. Happened to me a couple of weeks ago after driving through what can better be described as a river! Water was coming up over the bonnet! You did the right thing by stopping. Check your air filter isn't sopping wet, check plug recesses aren't full of water, then run it at idle to dry everything out mate. Should be ok.
  23. Pretty standard for Classic Insurers to only accept ages 25 and over unfortunately. Call around the specialist insurers as you'll have cheaper quotes than you'll get on Gocompare/comparethemarket etc.........
