Mine is also on the inner wing behind the airborne. There's an orange sticker with it on.

Gutting mate. Are these the newish ones you replaced with the set from your old lump?

Welcome! There's a definitive 24v guide in the engine bay section which should answer most/all questions, but it's quite a slog reading through it. It's a mish mash of 2.8 and 3.2 conversion bits, but there should be everything you require. Quite a few have carried out the conversion to very high standards on here so I'm sure any qs you have along the way could be answered.

Nice shot there fella! Ive always liked DJ products, as you say easy to apply and remove, and smell gurt lush too! -
The teves20 system was fitted to the mk3 Golf too. The only difference between that and the passat, is a bit of fettling around the Master cylinder iirc. If you have a search of the forum through Google, there is a writeup with a list of parts required mate.
-
If you have no attachment to it then it's probably not worth it. It'll never be worth chucking money at any Corrado if your thinking about resale values. I'd chop it in for a good condition VR if the above is true.

^^^ what he said. Some truly amazing examples of some truly great cars there.

Just had a chat with the bodyshop. Still not a great deal done, although there was a little bit of rot at the bottom of the rear arch joining the sill which they've cut out and welded in new. All glass is now out, and bonnet and wings are now bare metal. Should have a couple of photos tomorrow. Although not particularly impressed with the amount of time it's taking them, the level of extra work they're doing in compensation evens it out a bit. Certainly no rush now though as in other news, I'm off away in April for 9 months so not sure if the car will see public roads for about 18 months. :( Bit of fun in the south Atlantic though so not all bad, and it'll give me a nice bit extra to save for the underside and engine work.

After 2k, go 2k5 or 3k for a nice flat finish. Carpro Dlux or G-techniq c4 will make them look like new for a long time Matt. It's not cheap, but honestly, you get what you pay for mate. Neither of them are over shiny and wet looking, just nice deep black and new looking bud.

I've had someone near Plymouth offer me "a quick blow over" :camp: for £650, so there are people about who will do it, but I wouldn't expect it to last very long at all.

Coming along nicely mate. :thumbleft:

Has yours had much engine work done Rob? iirc yours has average mileage, but if it's had work relatively recently you should be safe mate. Thicker oil for a slightly "looser" engine will prevent excess wear, although I wouldn't panic mate, the mileage you do in it shouldn't cause any harm. It may sound a little more noisy than usual is all. Speaking with oilman anyway, he's mentioned that the Synta silver 10w-40 is old hat now and not particularly good compared to modern oils either. It's a little frustrating but it's not a big deal so don't worry too much mate.
-
Quick before and after. Still can't believe this happened! Mic sir, you are a legend! :thumbleft: Yum yum.
-
Think the 5w-40 is the longlife platinum stuff everything VAG seems to use at the minute. Synta silver 10w-40 is what it should be Rob, although I'm sure I read that it's no longer stocked. May be worth finding a good quality replacement bud.

Rear engine mount heat shield... is it needed??
seanl82 replied to Roger Chatfield's topic in Engine Bay
Just for the lambda and rear knock sensor wiring as far as I know Rog. Maybe helps a touch with the brake fluid reservoir bid I can't see it being a huge amount. Why do you want to chuck anyway? -
Ooh, I could be Interested. These are obsolete so maybe something you could do as a supply on demand type thing. A good printed instructions leaflet in with the pack would help too. Be good to know if all types use the same canister.
-
Ah yeah, just read on your members gallery and realised these were your SP cams. No idea if these can be repaired though sorry. More than likely someone can, but whether it would last or be cost effective is another matter.

Pretty sure I have the shells too I'll chuck in mate.
