    Creaking sound!

have a look at this thread though it might confuse you more, if i remember there are two seperate things discussed but i'm sure the problem is one of them. Excuse me if i'm wrong and its not related just can't be bothered to read through again and wind myself up :D http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... utch+groan

    Creaking sound!

yeah thats a possibility but thats a slightly different feeling, that comes through the brake pedal you can hear and feel it click a few seconds after turning on the ignition/starting engine. The creak sound in my case can occur if you have just stopped at a junction on a hill and are pulling away. Interesting about the sub frame tho, worth a look.

    Creaking sound!

Quite a few of us with something like that mate, can you feel it through the clutch pedal, general consensus is its clutch related, bearings or something. I think a few of us are waiting for the time when the clutch needs redoing to see if its goes away. Mines done it for the past 90k with no ill effect (when in to vw at 20000 for clutch noise, nothing obvious found to be at fault) , just a bit annoying when it does it. Try some searches on the forum. Think it been described as a whoot noise!!
  7. he he to be fair its the old skool fords im on about, if im really honest i didn't really look at anything else properly anyway. If it wasn't vw it got a 1 with a quick move on. Was just lovin the fact that most had a rating of less than 5 unless it was a C, gd work lads, cos im sure as hell the Ford boys aren't giving us 10's.
  8. My VR's made this noise since i had it, this is the woooot noise when pulling away in first. defo clutch related. Separate to ABS test. On mine ABS test which you can feel through brake pedal is quite soon after turning ignition. I think this clutch noise is something thats crops up on more than a few corrado's. (after browsing loads of other sites in pure frustration) and only really a problem if you let it be. Incidentally whilst looking through my cars history folder i found a reciept from VW (at 20,000 miles) to inspect clutch noise whilst pulling away. Report found Clutch fine everything okay. Well obviously everythings not "A" okay but that was 90000 miles ago it still makes a noise every so often but its not slipping (not been changed yet) and gear shift is still very smooth. Will find out eventually when clutch gets replaced but untill then gotta learn not to worry. Edd

    H&R Springs

yep mine were green as i understand it other models are blue, i didn't walk out the shop until i had opened the box and checked them (seen as i was suppose to get them in 10 working days and it took about 6weeks). As i undestand they are the same springs as for the Mk3 Vr6 Golf.
  12. think that last one's for sale mate. I think its the one i pass every morning on the way to work. Noticed a new beemer sat on the drive yesterday. Nice standard motor think he's on Autotrader if anyone's interested. think it was in the region of 4500 can't remember....black leather tho hmmm! Hmm thinking a lot today aren't I :) Its the VR i'm talking about

    MPG comparison

I changed from 1.8 16v to a vr 2 weeks after i had just renewed my policy with elephant and only had to pay an extra £32..... i had to get them to double check it, i was expecting much worse!! I get more MPG in the VR than the valver, such different cars to drive.... worth a thought
  18. Hi folks Just a quick one, three cars off to Wothersee in May (Hopefully). Heard rumours of problems with lowered suspension and ferries. Getting on and off. Hopefully not an issue for myself as im H&R and Ta's so not too low, but my mates MK11 Golf's are considerably lower - any experiences?? Edd

    Dark Green Paint

yeah thats the one green pearl effect, couldn't think of its real name when i posted nice colour i reckon (if you like greens that is) had two this colour now...actually the only colour corrado i,ve had. :)

    Dark Green Paint

Yeah as kevs says auto paint shop should easily sort you out. i get spray tins made up from A place called Partco in Gloucester, code LC6V. £10 a can and is more than enough to cover most things, VR6 engine cover rear number plate panel, handles etc - halfords laquer seems okay tho. Wouldn't touch halfords mixers if you can avoid it tho mate, i gave up after several returned visits, one tin was more of a nova blue (sky blue) than my dark classic green. :) Gd Luck

    exhaust dilemma

Yeah ive seen those pictures too...horrendous, but as you said they are franchised. think im gonna stick to my original plan tho and take the Magnex at least i know from the forum that it'll be quiet and i wont have any horrid resonances appear just when you dont want them (80 on the Mway). Would of looked nice tho :? and price would include fitting. Might wait and let my mate use his MKII Golf as a guinea pig. i've told him what i've heard and he still wants one.

    exhaust dilemma

Folks Having just decided that the absolute way forward with the Vr was going to be a Magnex cat back i popped into Taylor Made exhaust shop in worcester at the weekend had a chat with the owners son who's prob too good at his job for my own good and he now has me thinking again. Basically they will do a custom ss sytem cat back for just over the retail price of the Magnex (but they have a tail pipe thats similar to the Magnex oval but that would look just so smooth and subtle). I know they have some connection with powerflow (or even are!) who i've heard and seen very varied reports about. I understand the one in Worcester is the birthplace of the company though so im thinking their best workmanship will reside here. Anyone got any experience of these guys. It amazing how such a thing can torment the mind. Oh yeah ive previously read posts of difficulties in obtaining H&R Springs. If anyones interested Fast Forward motorsport have just got me some £150 and five days.

  25. depends on your mechanical ability/experience One of the major things i worry about when im looking for another corrado (as i am at present, got a good VR6 in the midlands P.M. me) is crash damage. Yeah i know the signs but im no real mechanic and i would certainly like it in writing should i find out something is more serious later on. If your looking at spending 5-6 k on a vr6 then it may be worth it. Looked at a green VR6 in the midlands the other day very nice car but 6k. mentioned an AA check and was flat out told i wasn't having one for the very reasons mentioned before. To be fair the chap said it was fine for me to bring a specialised VW mechanic along (but not all of us are lucky enough to have a friend like that) but just not RAC or AA as they will rip the car apart not taking into consideration that its ten years old. But when looking through the long list of receipts for the car etc a previous AA report mentioned it had signs of front and rear accident damage plus spray work on both sides. Looked mint to me.!! As i said a very nice car - but i havn't bought it and a major sway was that AA report. I don't want a crashed corrado Can't get the f**ker out my head tho  All timin chains done too Go have a look with the checklist first if you notice anything then it might be enough to put you off straight away so you don't waste ur cash. But Iif you can't find anything and are really serious about buying then consider it, it will alway be there as a selling point for the next lucky owner! Gd Luck IMHO :)
