Thanks very much Matt.. That gives me a good place to start with the script.. Im hoping things could be taking shape soon with having the plate done..

Today I've cleaned the car back up after coming back from Ultimate Dubs.. Had a good weekend there, some great cars and the weather was kind (exception being last 40 miles of way home) so cleaning was quite straightforward..

Have also swapped the wheels over..

Still undecided on height and spacing so ill see how i go from here and then tweak as needed..

Just saw the reply Chris.. You sussed it out?

Minor update..

MOT passed.

Front engine mount bracket now changed (the MOT man got the bolt out with ease, typical)

70mm front splitter on.. (off to a show with my old man soon and when i was there last i was practically mowing the lawn for them, that was in my old one and this lower so probably a wise move)..

Its not a prize winning kind of show, its a real mixed bag of cars, some pre war stuff, our 20 year old cars are babies to these guys..

Which one do you mean mate? The one where the cables pass through or the one that sits under the reverse light switch?

Text sent to Chris..

On the subject of the VSR i had it blasted and have painted it and it looks dreadful. The casting is poor and is like an Aero bar.. Plan is to have some of it filled and use a textured powder coat before painting.. Would have liked to have it fitted but patience is needed, id like it to look spot on..

Got the bracket off, had to strip a fair bit off to get off though. Thanks for the help.

what a nightmare on the VSR, can you powdercoat with filler? I am sure you'll get it sorted and it will look great.

Mike the Polisher has some textured powder coat so am happy to give that a try..

To be honest it looked ok until it was painted but the cleaner it is the worse it looks.. Bit of a shame but i suppose its inevitable with low volume production, no matter VW were going to relieve the customer for one..Id like to have it fitted for Elsecar but i don't think its realistic..

We use textured powder coat at my work the Hammerite one is amazing when it is sprayed on it is black after it goes through the oven it come's out 2 tone black/silver it's lovely stuff.

I could try and get a pic of it though the tank's that are done with this stuff are not done alot. When you see this stuff you wouldn't want to paint it mate it is just like the textured hammerite paint yet it is 2 colour's. I will investigate on monday will have to ask the painter's if it would be suitable can't see why not though. It may require undercoating first but they can do that too.

Not so keen on the wheel's "too much silver" but then it was 2005 apart from that "IMMENSE"

I think its just a bad angle for the wheels, if you look at other pictures on the RH's they really suit it.

I have the silver headlight surrounds in my garage if you fancy a change Michael....

Interesting, rear tow eye present, standard leather seats (Recaros hadn't arrived yet) and rear badge differences.. Other than that as it was..

Never been sure on the headlight surrounds..

Didnt have recaros, I thought I had an interior shot but cant find it. I didnt like the surrounds.

The shine on the rear quarter on the rear picture is amazing.

Reckon lighter coloured cars need to be 'broken up' a bit with the black plastics such as the grille, light surrounds, rear number plate holder etc. colour coding suits darker cars IMHO.

Some updates..

Had a great Easter weekend, 2 shows in 24 hours..

1st up was a one in the North East with my Dad (he has a 1973 MG Midget).. Nearly didn't get in as the guy on the gate said "can't get in with that, its pre 1998 only", when i explained he apologised and said he thought it was a new car, ill take that as compliment anyway.. Anyway people love our cars, had lots of folk of all ages come and talk to me about it, great day and some great cars..

Next up Elsecar.. Great pre show socialising with Mr and Mrs Corrado and co, the show itself was a mxed bag of cars, some brilliant stuff (Rallyes particularly) and some Bentley rimmed usuals.. Delighted to be in 5 highly recommended.. Jude (Butterfly) in the top ten best, so out of 15 prizes two went to our Coupes, thats great going in a sea of 5 year old metal..

While there CrazyDave spent a long time taking some pictures. This proves its not the model, its the camera man, I'm so pleased with these pictures and a massive thank you to him for spending over an hour snapping from all angles to capture them..

Last update, its taken me a year and half to find these, they are rare anyway but in this width and offset there must only be a few sets in existence. They need filled and redrilled, refurbed and tyres but I'm very excited to get them. They even still have the locking bolts and are coming with the correct removal tool. They will be beginning the long journey from Colorado in the next few days.. Ive got a very good contact for some related mega rare parts so i can feel a little theme coming on in the not too distant..
