  1. Ah, Winter again and my rear brake calipers have seized for the second time on three years. Fantastic engineering. I know that MK3 Golf calipers are better made and a straight swap. But has anyone tried EBC Calipers as detailed here http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/pages/sbv_pl.asp?Vehicle=VWCOR01&PartType=BRE07 Just noticed that they're around the same price as Genuine VW ones.[/url]
  2. Sorry to hear of your bad fortune. Assuming the car's still in your drive. Get a local bodyshop to come out and prepare a quote for repair as a "cash job." Bodyshops usually have different labour rates for private and insurance jobs (higher for insurance ones.) With the quote in mind, see if you can strike a deal with the insurance company to reduce the payout but keep the car. Alternatively, do what Chris has said and buy a lower mileage VR for 5 to 6 grand. At the end of the day, a VR is worth what people are prepared to pay for one regardless of "book" prices. Good Luck!
  3. The isv highlighted in the photo. (nicked from another thread) Doesn't sound like this is the fault though. More like your throttle pedal isn't returning to idle position. Take off the plastic trim surrounding the pedals and spray white grease over the various linkages whilst working the pedals up and down. A similar problem on mine meant that the pedal stuck down when I booted it. Not too pleasant when burning round the back roads! White grease fixed it. :)
  4. Yup, think a hole eventually corrodes in the matrix causing this problem. I'm just waiting for mine to do the same :(
  5. 1991 1.8 16v 27 yrs 2 NCD Clean License £911 fully comp with Northern Bank
  6. There's what looks to be a FULL grey leather interior for sale on E-Bay now. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... gory=30172 Description's a bit sketchy :)
  7. Hi Paul, Car's looking well mate. :D Those rims really look well. 8) 8) Do you have a local contact for Toyo tyres? I paid £65 a corner last year for mine from Central Tyres. Cheers Mike
  8. Crazymarcel The RHD Gauge Panel Part No is.. 536 858201 01c There's also a fitting kit, part no's copied from a previous thread... 2 x Screw N013 966 26 (fixes panel to brackets) 1 x Clamp 535 863 247 (LH bracket - now OBOSLETE) 1 x Clamp 535 863 248 (RH bracket - use 2 of these) 2 x Plug 535 867 842 A4FB (Screw Head Covers) If you can source these, you will become a GOD among all Corrado owners. 8) Cheers Mike
  9. I had a Clifford Vitualkey Cat II immobiliser and the standard flakey Quantum alarm on my Corrado when I bought it. Like you, I just wanted an alarm that would sound if a window broke or a door opened and that would rollup the windows when I hit the button. Got a Cobra Mini-Modular alarm fitted for £160 a few months back, so far no probs. It comes with a 3 year warranty anyway. Any alarm should be able to be adjusted to activate the Corrado's closure system by simply extending the locking signal a few seconds. I had a Clifford Concept 300 fitted on my last car and it gave no end of bother. Continuous false alarms from cars driving past. At the end of the day, as long as I've an alarm that makes a loud noise to wake me up and a good immobiliser to stop the thieving gits driving off I'm happy. If they really want your motor they'll take it. Either by breaking into your house and taking your keys or by loading it onto the back of a truck
  10. Hi Simon, Welcome to the forum. Nice to have another N.I. enthusiast on board! Looking forward to seeing the G60 at the next Club meet.
  11. Breaking News! Look at this thread..... http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=6065 Someone's been able to source RHD Gauge units in Germany! 8)
  12. Good luck Del. The gauges are easy enough to get, any VW/Audi breakers should be able to help. It's the panel that they go in that's hard to get. Originally £7 from VW, now deleted :( I bought mine on E-Bay for ....... £43  Looks nice though. 8)
  13. Have you had your motor resprayed Steve? Doesn't look like a standard C colour, more like the blue R32's come in. Looks good! 8) 8)
  14. Well, as long as I can use the switches to open and close the windows and not make the wheels fall off I'll be happy. Maybe biggrim could give me a few pointers :?:
  15. Steve Coogan had an MX5. We all know what MX5 drivers are like :D Right Andi  Dons flameproof coat. :?
  16. Sounds like you've definately got the wrong one. Give C&R Enterprises a call and ask them to verify the code on it. http://www.candrenterprises.co.uk 0115 978 5740 Once you've got one that fits, drill the Airbox for maximum effect. 8)
  17. I've my eye on a VR6 owned by an old lady locally. Satin Silver '94 VR6 One Owner From New 65,000 miles Full VW History Winter pack (headlamp washers) Mint condition and I know it's never been thrashed. The only downside is its cloth interior. However, all is not lost as my '91 16v has heated leather and I could do a wee swap. My 16v has the older style interior with the electric window switches located differently than the VR6. Will the older style interior swap over easy enough? How complex is the wiring for the window switches and seats? Cheers Mike :?
  18. Does anyone know what this boyo does :?: Would it be of any benefit to my 16v :?: :?:
  19. Well parts alone are gonna be well over a grand. Have you seen the price of Corrado body panels  Add to that the actually labour required and you're looking close to £2000 to fix it. Still, if you got it at the right price....
  20. Just a shot in the dark but maybe one from a similar era Golf or Passat is the same? You should be able to find plenty of them at the scrappies. I'm sure somebody will be along soon with ETKA part no's.
  21. Yes it's THAT time of year again. Insurance is up at the end of the month and Elephant have quoted me £907 TPFT renewal. This year however, I'm thinking of buying another car for winter use to keep the Corrado good. Got my eye on a '93 VW Vento TDi, reckon it'll be a bit easier on juice too :) Anyway, does anyone know of an insurance company that will let me have the Vento as my daily driver and the Big C as a classic with limited mileage?? Any help much appreciated.
  22. Give these guys a bell http://www.candrenterprises.co.uk
  23. Bought a full set of rear lights from Andy43 Top bloke, prompt delivery and all. Even allowed himself to get stung on the postage ;) Five stars!!

    fuel filter

IIRC There's just the one fuel filter and two pumps. The filter's towards the driverside rear beside one of the pumps. The other fuel pump's in the tank itself. There's some advice on changing the filter here... http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewto ... uel+filter Think the fuel system on all C's is pretty much the same.
  25. No Edd, there's a silver one close to me too  :D A G60 Corrado would suit you better anyway 8)
