Scott replied to Scott's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Makes perfect sense... my only issue is I am struggling to find a place for ONE amplifier .... let alone two... What you think to mounting them in spare wheel well? -

Oh right... my mate wants me to put both amps in but that has got to be serious over kill! I also thought about mounting the amp in the spare wheel well.... Perhaps do a max power? - stick some MDF in there with some blue neons and even some fans to keep it cool  I am not keen on mounting it to back of seats due to my dogs.... image the shock they would get chewing through the power cable... -

Yup the amp is going into the boot mate :D - I am thinking of mounting it on the side of the sub box... that way if need to stick dogs in back then I could remove the lot .... ? Perhaps use a plug of some type for removal? I thought tri-mode is when you bring down a 4 channel amp to 3 channels? Basically I want to run two channels to the sub and the other two channels to the door speakers.... -

Well worked it out.... for now until the speakers Kev is sending me turn up.... I am going to disconnect the front door speakers and leave the rear shelf speakers and front dash speakers running off the head unit. I am then going to run the 4 channel amp.... in tri mode.... one output (bridged) to the sub... and the other two outputs to the door speakers... What reckon? 8) :) Then when the FOCALS turn up all I need to do is install them and modify front wiring slightly.. :D Cheers Scott -
It must be a very early one then.... the first Corrados that were built had very few gizmos.... people werent happy about it so VW added them quickly.... hence most have full electrics... but the early ones had no electric windows / sunroof / etc... So yes I'd find another example.... if IMAO try and pick up one of the last 1.8 16V's (J plate) ......

The grills are still there yeah.... my new coaxials are mounted in the hole underneath as its nearly perfect for the 3 1/2 inchers.... If I can glue them in place under the grill that would be excellent... how would I seal the rest of the hole though as the tweeter would sound pants otherwise? -

Well I was thinking about screwing them into the grills? - Is that possible? Failing that I am going to need to source some OE Tweeters mounts for the Corrado - anyone breaking a Corrado? - or has some for sale / spare? -

Yup I binned them  No I havent got any Meccano..... So I am assuming they dont come with mounts then? - I really dont want to hack any trim so they are going to have to go under the speaker covers somehow!! -

Its a ten inch sub mate so shouldnt be over kill - my pioneer head unit also has the facility to adjust it so will be fine... will be running it all off the same Amp. Do the tweeters come with mounts ? - as once the old co axials are removed from dash I will have BIG holes.... :( - therefore have nothing to mount them too.... -

Well have spent a little more hard earned and got: 10 inch Infinity Reference 1000W Sub in a ported bandpass box.... 4 * 100 JBL Amplifier Combined with my FOCAL components... Should make a HUGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEE Difference  Will get the door builds eventually but running out of cash quickly... So where do the FOCAL tweeters go? Will make sure the door cards are nice sealed! cheers for the tips! Scott -

Yup will get some.... Is there anyway of improving the way the 5 1/4 inch speakers mount to the door card? - those four flimsy plastic posts are a waste of time!!! Where shall I put the tweeters and cross overs? -

Oooooooooooooooooo :D Will they fit straight in mate? Any pics? -
 Then get your head in there and have a look  Could be the top hose has split? perhaps due to worn engine mounts tugging the hose?
