It sounds very much like it's the linkage then. I've no idea how to adjust it tho, as I've never done it. It's been brought up on here loads of times though, so I'm sure people will be able to help out.

Very nice 8) I look forward to seeing that beauty tomorrow :D

It's probably just the linkage that needs adjusting as it's quite common for it to work it's way out of alignment. Have a search for gear AND linkage and see what you find ;)

is that the posh guy, cos he was a good bloke. Very friendly, and he didnt mind too much that i was kinda off my head at the time. i think he found it rather amusing(not alcohol related) Aye, the posh one :) He used to write for Car magazine a lot before he started on Top Gear.

Yeah I guess I just gotta cough up for a pukka Pioneer one as I don't really want to toast £200 of HU :(
-
The CD-RB10 apparently works with newer HU's and the CAD one says it works with 1998+ HU's. Some interesting pics on here - http://www.autotoys.com/x/catalog/PIONE ... p_673.html

After more lunchtime research it seems that there are 2 devices available from Pioneer, which are all the ones on ebay (and a few US sites). CD-RB20 which has a big box-o-tricks and handles all the clever digital stuff CD-RB10 which is what I need and has a simple RCA input that goes straight into the HU and leaves AUX displaying on the screen. The only problem now is getting hold of one, because nobody seems to sell them over here. Car Audio Direct have a copy CD-RB10 made by CAD for £29.99, which although rediculously expensive is gonna have to do the job :( And Kev, I've got a Corrado - my wallet doesn't get a chance to collect dust

That might work, but then I'd need to power the board somehow. I'll see if I can get my hands on an IP-BUS connector first and go from there. Having looked on ebay, there seem to be loads of people selling simple RCA->IP-BUS leads, so I guess it must work. They're still asking for £10 or so tho! Edit: On closer inspection, they all seem to have a box of tricks attached (no external power needed) and they're all based in the USA too
-
'tis indeed a good point, but if that lead they're selling for £25 on caraudiodirect works, then I would guess the HU just says something like "Aux input" if it gets no address/id info from the CD changer. I'll wire one up and see what happens :)

Blue 16v thrashing down Station Road (on the wrong side of the road) in Saffron Walden at about 7:45 last night... any takers?
-
Ah, well go for Mk3 ones then. I went for the Mk4 ones because they're also alloy, which means they won't corrode to buggery like the Mk2/3 ones.

Good stuff, I've got some chokes kicking around somewhere, but good thinking. I'll see what I can find WRT connectors from Pioneer... Cheers Henny!
-
Aha... it would appear that pins 7 and 8 are for analogue audio... http://www.vitat.spb.ru/eng/index.php?L1=ip-bus Excellent... now where can I get a Pioneer IP-BUS connector from...
-
Yeah if it is digital it's a bugger to do, but this http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... 3ef0bb6166 Makes me think it might have a couple of pins reserved for old skool analogue?

Just wondering now you know what a alien sex toy looks like :? :D LOL We don't talk about the abduction...

A diode simply allows current to flow one way and not another, like a one way valve. A resister restricts the current flow, but still allows it to flow in both directions. A rheostat is an adjustable resister that allows you to change how much restriction is placed on the current flow. But I dunno what diode you need to solve your problem :)

Yeah sorry, it's for a Pioneer HU. The name of it suggests that it's a digital bus-based system, but then I saw a lead for sale that was just RCA to IP Bus, so I figured it must have some standard analogue inputs on it somewhere. I'm not entirely sure tho, which is why I asked you guys. I'm on the assumption that Henny could do something like this in his sleep, but I have no idea what the pin-out or system spec is for IP-Bus

Heh heh the one on the left looks like some kind of alien sex toy

Soo does anybody know how to wire up a connector and/or where I can get the parts from? I found a pre-made connector online somewhere for £25 and I'm buggered if I'm paying that much for a couple of RCA connectors and a IP-BUS plug. Oh and ideally I want a mini-jack on it so I can hook my MP3 player (yet to be purchased) up to the head unit.

I am guessing that user "samm_cvr6" has a Corrado VR6 ... :) oh yeah. I can read. No really.

I thought the main reason that people went up to 3.0 was because their bores needed rescuing and it was the only way to do it?

I don't have any answers for you, but it will help to diagnose your problem if you can say what engine you've got...
