    Name that hose!

That's what I was hoping for... I can't really go to the stealer and point either because it's a good 15 min drive and I'd run out of coolant by then :(

Any more thoughts on this guys? I sent a PM to Nelson, but he's not picked it up yet and I do need the hose pretty urgent like...
  3. Heh heh, just think yourself lucky that you're not in a crappy 306 diesel ;) I ordered some P21S stuff and you definitely get lots for your money (compared with Zy/Swissol) It'll be worth it once you get it back though :) I would leave your paintwork for a good few weeks before trying to polish it up though, fresh paint won't take too kindly to some hard buffing (ooh err!)
  4. You'd be lucky to get it out of my VW head unit, more of a hissssssssssssss Fear not, I've got a decent Pioneer HU and some Infinity components to go in 8)
  5. Oxymoron? "IRONY and SARCASM" ... ;)[/quote:1bec4] Appreciated, I might have been taking a slur at your musical tastes?
  6. Men and Motors? Ugh I think not.
  7. Mmm scrapey. For track use only methinks. It's damn nice though, anyone fancy buying me one? :D
  8. Good job he didn't want those rear tyres to be round... :D
  9. That's because the Aston is something a little different ;) The first thing a numpty does when they get money is go out and get a new Ferrari. At least go and get a classic one ;) Mind you, I wouldn't say no to a new Ferrari :D
  10. Mind you, when a VR has got gammy chains it sounds a lot like a saw mill
  11. One word for you.... yum
  12. Yeah I had £700ish floating around in my head. *joy* I'm pretty sure my chains are fine, but it's worth being ready for that kind of expenditure...
  13. I would imagine most of the pipework and ancillaries are the same, but I may be wrong. And no, the VR was only used in the Galaxy, in the slighly less meaty 2.8 form.
  14. If you've got it all apart, then change the chains as well, even if they haven't stretched much they're not gonna be in great shape after 10yrs of abuse. You might as well do the clutch while you have the gearbox off as well. It'll cost you more initially, but saves a huge amount in labour if you never have to take the gearbox off again. Anybody got any ideas how much a chain, Mk4 tensioners and clutch combo costs to get some at somewhere good like Stealth?
  15. My C is parked outside my office, does that count?
  16. For that, read Alfa Romeo 156.... a bloke on my road paid £25K for a decent spec 2.0 16V one 2 years ago and it's now worth £8.5K! And the amount of issues he's had with it makes the Corrado look like the most reliable car in the world! And cheap too! :D At least you get a return for spending money on an old car, whereas it just disappears invisibly on a new one.
  17. Or a fun and boring new car that just sits there losing money

bottom right of the photo? ;) Edit: would like to point out that he knows G11 is no longer used, but found it amusing that G11 is in big letters in the photo.

Ahh but can you tell the difference between G11 and G12? ;)

Ah nice one Kev. Scared the crap out of me when I pulled to a stop and huge cloud of steam bellowed out from under the bonnet! I'll PM Nelson now, cos I really could do with a new hose ASAP :) In the mean time, a large bottle of water will be going to work with me.
  21. So this hose has split (notice Gaffer tape repair job) and my C is currently pissing it's coolant into the engine bay. My question to you is, what hose is this (part number) and how much of the assembly do I have to actually buy? I think it may be part 1H0 121 157 H, but I'm not 100% sure. Any other suggestions?
  22. Well I have to say that even tho I haven't driven it much, it does feel like a completely different car. It used to start wandering and feeling very unstable at speed and it now just feels planted. I'm dead chuffed. I'd be more happy if it wasn't pissing coolant into the engine bay, but ho hum that'll be fixed soon. The only problem is, now I've got it back the list of things I need to do on it now needs err doing. I've got my head unit and speakers behind me ready to go in, so I might have a crack at the head unit tomorrow. The serpentine belt also needs doing sooner rather than later. At least it gives me something to do in the evenings now :D
