Looked at a Masarati BiTurbo t'other day, to replace the Vento actually. But it only had the two doors... shame really. Bloody lovely motor, and THAT engine

God I wish I'd seen this line earlier!!!! Yes, you too can really wish you hadn't started on something

he  he  he  It could've happened to anyone. Yes, I've got a bra which gets fitted every now and then.

Ah, so.... nearly correct. But hey, you learn something every day. This is interesting, 'coz I thought that the one for sale was the Scotts car, but I could be wrong. The guy who's selling it doesn't know either. The pics on the CCGB web-site are actually of the Coventry car, Chris de Bono's old car, as some of them were taken by me and the others by Steve Auty. This was sold to a chap called Kevin Wong (or something like that) in London, and as far as I'm aware he still has it. My car is the one from Sheffield, which leaves the London ones unaccounted for. I don't think they all had personal plates, well certainly I know of two that didn't (mine being one of them, until recently when I put my own stamp on it) the one that is for sale isn't on a personal plate either. Chris de Bono's had a personal plate (K 7 CDB or something like that I think). Supercharged, there's not any way you could get the number or contact details of the person who owns it is there, as I really want to try to document them all for the club and for "historical" reasons too, as it is possibly the most "exclusive" production VW ever. (unless you count the supercars). You can PM me if you like, or perhaps ask them what they think and perhaps get them to contact me. Cheers!

:D That'd be the one, but it's not quite that garish in real life, the flash on most people's camera's just reflects back. It's quite easy to live with day to day. There is confirmation that there was only 6 built, but now I'm having doubts about whether one has actually been mashed up. I've been asked by several people now to confirm about a certain Red Leather interior that seems to be going around up in Manchester for sale at the moment, which I believe is the one I was offered last November. One of the most exclusive things about the Campaign was the red-leather interior Electric Recaros as most people know, but a lot of people don't appreciate that the dash was all red-leather too. Now this interior hasn't got the dashboard which raised my suspicions for a start (who would take the seats out, but not the dash) and also the head-rests are wrong too as they should have an embossed "Running Man" logo on each head-rest, these didn't have this. This kinda triggers my suspiscions. (speeling off again I'm afraid!) Some people have asked if they did a G60 "Campaign" too, as it appears that some G60s have appeared with a similar interior, same colour seats (I've yet to see one myself, but saw a couple of photos of one once). It is believed that the last one has been discovered now by James Shillaw in Suffolk somewhere, where a lady has owned it from new, but I'm awaiting confirmation on this. But in case anybody wants to know, I believe there is currently one for sale. Although I've been told it's in a pretty shabby state and could do with some TLC (bold tyres, poorly paint etc., sunroof knackered etc.) Now, if I had the money and the garage space... it's going for about 2/3 standard VR6 pricing at the moment..... ("Dream on" - Mrs. Bromley) As a parting shot, I tried to join the "Campaign Register" at GTi Inters last year, when asked which one I'd got, "a Corrado" - "Sod off!" was the reply. Bloody commoners  Anyway, off to watch Henman lose :? Anybody want some details on Geniune Campaigns, let me know.

whats louder than a Miltec or Magnex ehaust for a VR6?
Campaign replied to Rams's topic in Engine Bay
SuperSprint Mega anyone - NOW There's an exhaust! :D  :D -
Ahh, but you're discounting the Manta 400 there aren't you - had a mate who called himself "MantaMan" - he had about 6 of them, and went over to Germany to buy a 400 - Christ that thing was fast. But it was rusted to hell and fell to bits as soon as you looked at it. 8) Eventually he sold all the Mantas (or scrapped them more likely) and bought an S3.

Funnily enough, we saw a Calibra in Mansfield tonight, with a HUGE rice spoiler bolted onto the back.... felt like driving alongside of him, pointing in horror at his spoiler and saying something like "There's a problem with your spoiler mate, it looks shite!"
-
Anybody else got a VR6 with the "old style" interior...?
-
Just thought I'd put in my 1p on this, contrary to what Stormy says, if you bid for it and win you DO HAVE TO BUY IT. By bidding you are entering into a legally binding contract with the seller. It CAN be followed through in court. And, especially if the sums are significant (which if its a Corrado it probably will be), is quite possible. Personally, I find it's not just the honesty of the seller, but of the buyer as well....

Just bought some similar to the above for the Vento, leather outers then blue alcantera centres. Looks quite cool, just need the back seats retrimmed now (which will probably cost more than the whole set cost    )

Looking good Roddy - like the full frontal look

This is a common question and the answer is: Probably! It all depends on the new wheels' weight distribution. Going to bigger wheels is putting more metal further away from the centre of rotation = more energy required to spin it at a given speed = less energy available for propelling the car. The energy required is proportional to the square of the radius for a given mass which is why increasing the radius from 7.5" to 8.5" (i.e. 15" to 17" wheel diameter) you sometimes get a noticable effect. (8.5/7.5)squared = 1.28 i.e 28% increase in energy required just to spin the wheel and this is per corner so times 4 for the whole car! And this is assuming the same style of wheel AND completely ignoring tyres! If you could get bigger wheels that actually required less energy to spin them you would see a performance increase! i.e. some ultra-ultra-lite alloy. This just reminds me of that bit in Austin Powers II where they're trying to explain about Time Travel problems and he goes cross-eyed and just says "Oh well, don't worry viewers, it's just a movie  )

The original Seat Ibizas weren't, but I s'pose you're right on that.

For £3k you're gonna get a shed of a VR6, or with a bit of hunting around a Good - Very good G60. THEN look at what mods you can do to it. My .02! G60 just as quick as VR6 (been there, owned both!) VR6 smoother and quieter. G60 more playable with, more fun, better handling (that should stir some discussion :? :D )

Far tooo many Frods in the first person's list.... Seat Ibiza 1.8 (2nd Version) Peugeot 309 GTi Brooklands Edition (I nearly bought one of these, leather everywhere and wooden steering wheel, plus 205 handling). Pug 205GTi Vauxhall Shove-It HSE (or was that 70s?) BMW 2002 Ti (okay, 70s again, but would embarress most RS Turdos even in Auto which is what I used to drive)

Yeah, Tell Me When is still an awesome track, especially the Remix No. 1 by Utah Saints. I bought the 20th Anniversary version of Dare t'other day which came with Love and Dancing too... Cool stuff. If you like that, try and hunt out Pete Shelley "XL1" which was produced by Martin Rushent (as Dare was) for a similar sound, but a bit harder with more (read: some) guitars.
-
Jim, I've got some Sony Drives in at the moment which I could do for about £39 inc Delivery (48x24x48 Speed)
-
Crickey, I thought I had diverse taste. Personally prefer "Dare" to "Octopus", but the Leftfield album - what a scorcher that is! In my motor at the moment I have [fade]"The Best Anthems in the World Ever"[/fade] tATu-200km/hintheWrongLane [fade]Classic Commericals (Particularly with Ride of the Valkeries!)[/fade] Spike Milligan - "Hitler and My Part in his Downfall" (Great for long journeys) Plus about 8,000 mp3 tracks on my mStation.

The "Polo" was originally designed to be an Audi, with VW doing a de-chromed version, less luxurious as I understand it. Most of the development work was done by Audi funnily enough, with VW sticking their badge on it right at the end. VW took control of Audi from Mercedes in the late 60s, and brought out the original 100s and 80s around then. (I've just been reading The VW Story). They were (mostly) released on the continent, don't think it was ever listed on UK Audi sales. But after a while Audi decided to drop the project as being a bit too downmarket for them.

I'll hopefully be there as I've got some Scirocco parts I need to get shot of. (and a Scirocco too)
-
Got this the other way around though, when my Stereo's on the lights dim (only when LOUD though ;-)

Got a printer, got some transfer paper.... job done (sold the G60 though :? )
