You want Tensol perspex cement. It goes on in liquid form, chemically melts the surface and fuses it with another perspex surface. VERY strong joint. HTH!
-
fantastic work there mate. I too love the look & IMHO £570 all in isn't a bad price at all considering all the skilled work that goes into them. If I still had my corrado I'd seriously consider having john do the business. Love it!
-
using s2 calipers on a corrado will however mean that the staggered pistons will be the wrong way around...... meaning accelerated & uneven pad wear (theoretically!)
-
In fact, now I think about it - before I even put my plate on ebay, I phoned DVLA central office for advice & they told me to transfer my plate exactly as I've descibed. So I think RW1 that it'd most likely be someone having an off day in the office at your end...... lets face it - there are a lot of rules & regs for these office bods to remember. Not that it helps you now!
-
Yup, I still own the car. But since you now own the 993 and by default its plate, there is no reason you conldn't transfer the plate onto another car belonging to the 993's previous owner. Whether you can pass it to him on retention is a different matter. No doubt to do that then you would need to put it on retention in your own name first.
-
Eh? Yes you can - and I did - and my name was not on both V5s.
-
The current owner of the plate can do what he/she likes with it! As I say, I transferred the plate on my car to a total stranger's vehicle. Paid a single £80 fee and my car reverted to it's original number. Not quite sure what your DVLA office told you, but I did it in person myself through my local DVLA office and had the exchange complete within two weeks! (New MOT paperwork & V5 took a bit longer to come through though). If you still don't believe me: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 6553686065 and look, I got good feedback!
-
Actually no - ownership of the car isn't a problem. I just sold the private plate which came with my car. Sold it to a random guy through e-bay who payed the £80 transfer fee. My car just reverted back to its original number.

99.9% of the time your car will just get back it's original number.

The other down side to the bitumen flashing from B&Q is that it doesn't deal with the heat so well. You really do have to make sure the surfaces you stick it down to is very clean - otherwise it has been known to go VERY floppy in the hot weather (ie inside door cavities on dark coloured cars on sunny days), peel off the panel and leave sticky gooey mess on windows as they roll down. Never really experienced this myself but have seen the results on other peoples cars. For a budget job - IMHO you can't beat it....... but you certainly can buy better. Still in two minds as to what to use for the new car. Will probably go for flashing on the floor pans & branded on the doors and flanks. Good combo!

Well, I've got an Audi S2 with one of those wheels. If you want to do a trial fit send me a PM. (I'm in Brighton)

yeah - they've gone bust *again* ! Glad I got rid of my bremsport kit - they weren't even dust sealed for road use...... Just go straight to Outlaw in the US much easier! or buy AP disks.
-
don't think any of them are dust sealed...... mine were fitted by dialynx and had a few issues...... don't even think about using 'bremsport' disks - mine were worn - needed new ones. Called, and what was the response....... none in stock in US and no preditcted date for another batch to be made........... GREAT! *mod edit - Triple post deleted... - Henny*

Corrado help needed for a wannabe corrado owner
yalan replied to Hank_Marvin's topic in General Car Chat
I too have a 16v for sale - it is however a 2.0. Only mention it because I'll be looking for a polo to run as a 2nd car! Just building a site to advertise it now....... http://www.geocities.com/blackcorrado16v/ PM me if you've any Qs...... -
very nice chap - and a much nicer seat than the other ones on ebay at the moment...... any idea what spec / year car these ones came out of ???
-
the gunson's doesn't work on the 2.0 16v - BTDT (even though they do specify that it'll work on the 9A passat! - bizzarre)
-
mine seems to do the same thing - tempremental - though sometimes it beeps fine - othertimes all i get is a relay clicking and a very weak and short lived parp
-
RE: the audi conversion - you'll have to mount the calipers the wrong way round though because the S2 has trailing calipers and the corrado has a leading position. Use the S2's near side caliper on the corrado's offside and you'll overcome the issue of the bleed nipples facing upwards - but then the staggered pistons will be the wrong way round...... rather than counteracting tapered pad wear, it'll accentuate the issue. Never tried it in practice, but if i tried the conversion, I'm make sure I regularly monitored how they were wearing ( the pads are held in place by sliding channels in the ends - twist the pads and there is a risk of jamming). Just my 2c - I know aposegil has tried this combo & not heard him report any issues......
-
nah - actually it was a factory standard function - All the later cars will do windows and sunroof from the drivers lock - whether an alarm is fitted or not!
-
yeah - and those were the 5 minutes where I was walking from one end of the car park to the other to get back to my car. Got so wet I had to drive back to brighton in my pants. Crappy end to an otherwise enjoyable day! Re. the seats - yeah saw them too ....... can't believe someone actually paid the asking price for them ones.
-
it doesn't need to be a 2.0l manifold - the ones from the 1.8 16v will do the job and are hugely more abundant. Only down side is you lose the little tube to test emissions before the CAT Fairly sure mine went as a result of the previous owner not getting the front engine mounting changed when it was properly knackered! EDIT - can't help on the performance side of things though and just realised that was the main point of your post - sorry

on my way home today and noticed a wide arched quattro behind me with lights and fogs on ...... let it pass as i was 'running on fumes' at the time - and good god did it look good! Now I liked my S2, but by comparison these things just look so aggressive and athletic..... A quick search on ebay turned up this beauty. I've never thougt red suits much other than ferraris (and I don't even like them!).......... but I'm smitten! Just thought I'd share today's obsession!
