DUBTEES - New VW t shirt business
Louie Lungbubble replied to matthewb1985's topic in General Car Chat
If the Corrado one never actually stated "CORRADO" but just had the pic with "Est 1988" below I'd have one. Sorry mate, not very helpful that, was it? Just dont think people who wouldn't get the Tshirt in the first place need it explaining to them. -
^ What he said. Mine's got that. Small perforated rectangular thing. Looks exactly like a speaker grille. Or have yours got that as well as these holes?

Dunno what a VR6 head will run to, but I was being told that for the 4 pot head skim was ITRO £60 As for it using oil, if the oil's not turned into mayonnaise, and the water aint got oil in, it could be the HG's letting oil into the cylinders and it being burned off that way. Are you sure it's the head gasket and not valve seals that are letting oil escape, or even just a bog standard oil leak?
-
HG failure doesn't automatically mean the head needs to be skimmed. A leaking gasket itself doesn't warp the head, secondary problems of overheating which arise from gasket failure do. Depends whether the gasket problem was spotted before any overheating occured, but judging by the above from previous owner #2, pretty much says that it did need skimming at thew time but he decided to risk not doing it.

Can't afford a new subframe....Will a MK3 one fit?
Louie Lungbubble replied to Crispy's topic in Drivetrain
Yeah, ETKA is the parts daddy, but no-one's oficially supposed to have it. It'd be pointless asking anyone who's got it to burn a copy off too, because no-one's officially got it. So I wont. :silent: -
Can't afford a new subframe....Will a MK3 one fit?
Louie Lungbubble replied to Crispy's topic in Drivetrain
If it's the same part No for C and Golf, then it'll no doubt be the same price. But I asked the same question recently HERE about the front subframe, Seems in my case, it might well fit. -
Suggestions for a new car please - decision made see pg3

Audi 80. It's the new Corrado. (ish) -
Hade an old SRI cav many moons ago which developed a jerk like an angry bronco unless under full accelleration. Turned out to be an unnoticeable split in the air intake pipe from the filter box. Possible culprit?

I was thinking more of a yacht. Aw bumholio's about the stud pattern though. Was quite looking forward to putting some meaty wheels on it. Suppose I'll have to stick with the awesome grip given by the high walled 175's
-
I'm assuming that's different than VW then?

Howdy pilgrims. Since the Rado's now resting up in my garage, there's been a distinct lack of wheels in my life. Basically, I've been looking for a banger to run round in for a few months till I can do the work on the 'proper' car. Seen a few absolute howlers in the past fortnight too, which the owners had described as "Very good condition" But, after much frustration I've finally dropped onto a corker this morning. Found a top, old bloke who, due to ill health needed to sell his beloved and extremely straight H reg Audi 80. (Pipe and slippers ahoy!)  It's the 1.8, carbed engine, metallic bluey/green, loads of history, goes really well and is clean as a whistle. All for the princely sum of £375. But apart from being all pleased with myself and wanting to tell someone, I've got a question. Will the alloys from my valver fit directly onto this? It's got 4 stud rims with the standard audi wheeltrims on at the minute. Looks ok, but reckon it'd look nails with a set of 16" wheels on. (Far too cold out to actually TRY)

Owners probably skint now. Doggie dentist's just relieved him of all his dough!

ouch! Immortalised in metal...

Use the dog to T-cut it with

Marty, you'll be gobsmacked at the difference just the loom makes, even with standard old bulbs. May not be worth the work upgrading it to take 80/100 bulbs. Just dropping a set of 55/60 silverstars in feels like you've got WWII searchlights on the front!

Everyone loves badges, so tomorrow after you've derfraged your Sony jeans, ironed your Prada toothbrush, and bleached your Slumberland inhaler just remember we're all short, black, white, smell, live in sets, and dislike terriers muchly.
-
Cheers James. Was thinking the same, but not taking anything for granted where VW are concerned.
-
Morning all. Could somebody blessed with the electronic query God of ETKA, check to see if the subframe from a 16v GTi Mk 2 Golf is the same as that for a 16v Corrado? Mucho appreciado. Move if needed Mods. Suppose this should've been in drivetrain.

Cheers David. Just been onto Dubsport. They reckon 3.5 hrs labour to fit. Not as bad as I thought, that. -

Yeah a little bit far. Cheers for the thought anyway mate. Think I'll have to give Gibber a shout and see if he knows if that'll fit on mine. -
