get stuck in! good opportunity to take several months and work through the car - get it all clean and build it up the way you want. Expensive - but exciting!

with the gearbox and shafts/cv's strengthened - whats the next weakpoint?

There's a need to use a spacer in the front mount with r32s I believe for this reason. C2 sell shims made up - I'm getting one for mine. Might be worth giving them a call - when I visited them a few weeks back, they had countless 24v conversions in their workshop, they'll have come across this too...

can't see them? -
i'd tend to agree - you need to gain control of your wheel fetish!
-
good luck with the new engine mate!

Software - so easy to find jobs, but usually means work indoors and within a city. Do you work for yourself? Its a nightmare keeping the car clean here nevermind polished wheels! Two weeks and I'll be on the great ocean road - can't wait! Did you get the passat engine/subframe etc?

Depending on how tight it is - you might get away with a 17mm. Either way - thats whats needed now! -

Cheers Tom - I tried that too but gave up after both that and fudging a 16 by using shims in a 17 failed. Classic case of not reading through to check ive all the correct tools up front! Deep set 16mm did surprise me though - unusual for VW -

Almost had the 12v out today - fell at the last hurdle though - the rear engine needs a deep 16mm socket to get the top bolt off - is that the standard bolt thats in there? Surprised to be honest - and didn't have a head that would take it off. All the spanner did was lead me to red knuckles :) Hopefully should have it out shortly - and a load of stuff going into a parts for sale ad. Pics coming in the next update - have a car load of stuff being blasted and painted and the 24v shouldn't be far from being built back up totally fresh, clean and painted. -
curious to know more about the engine sitting at an angle you were not expecting - in what way? you should be able to get away without the aux pump for a while btw - i only realised when chatting to Kev this week that its often ditched on VRTs...

Midnight blue is just fantastic - i might redo my car in that colour! -
agree with Hasan - need to get a daytime shot up ;) engine sounds very strong - excellent to hear! Are you running the default ratios in the 02m box? Was there much gearing left at 160?

When are you likely to release the product Dave? And what size/shape of box is it? Curious to see one now

lovely car Chris i personally think the chrome badge in chrome looks much better. your car has a very original look about it - the black one doesn't follow that theme -
Worth getting VAG-COM though - you'll certainly get the use out of it over the next year or so... You likely to take the car back to Vince?
-
Got something in mind Kev? ;)
-
boost the 24v then...
-
@Kip - Cheers for the info - can't you use a smaller fan alongside a larger one, rather than just a large single fan? Not much extra cost/effort and its got to be better... The wiring sounds a good move. @Dave - The controller sounds interesting - I'll certainly keep an eye - anything to get rid of it! I'm still keen to find out whether it can be removed completely though. @Rob - interesting, they work on after run too along with the aux pump? Didn't expect that about the coolant sensors - I was under the impression only the r32's would be needed - plus the yellow one for the clocks. Wonder why the extra sensor was required... Something to do with the deletion of the fan controller? This puzzle never bloody ends!

If you do it - give me a shout i'll help

Zak have you done this mod?

any updates from the weekend Rob?

I think that answers my question. How have wired in your new fans Kip?
