  2. Ok - GSF is a better bet for the seals - guessing VAG is better for the belt and tensioner. Does anyone please know the GSF part numbers for the 3 seals? :) Can spot the following listing for seals - just unsure exactly which one(s) are correct? 11734 OIL SEAL CRANK-REAR (BQ) CO 9/88 > 11740 OIL SEAL-CAM/INT/CRANK BQ CO 4 Cyl 9/88 > 11742 OIL SEAL CRANK/OIL PUMP CO VR6 9/88 >
  3. Good idea! Thing is - I don't have somewhere to store the car when its 'in bits' waiting for it to be returned. So I either have to have a garage do it or just take it to a friends garage in another city and work on it over a weekend - replacing the seals myself.
  4. My 91 G60 has a leaking cam shaft seal and I have decided to replace that seal along with crank shaft seal and the intermediary shaft seal. Ontop for peace of mind (since this hasnt been replaced since owning the car) I am going to replace the cam belt and tensioner. Questions are as follows: 1) Should I only buy these items from VAG? Or are the parts from a local motor factor goign to be 'good' enough? 2) Does anyone know the part numbers for these parts? 3) Are all of these fixes easy enough to do (friends seem to think so)? Are there any pointers I should be aware of before starting that neither the Bentley manual or Haynes manual covers? Thanks for any help!!
  5. To recondition it - since one of the seal is leaking badly - would getting a seal kit from VW (think its £95) and replacing them be enough? Or are there other things I could do? Since I am asking - where have other people bought reconditioned/new/exchange racks from? I have seen the ones available via ECP but they are quite expensive and I am unsure whether they come with track rods and boots as part of the 'kit'. Alternatively I may look into track rods from VW as I'll need the ends anyway... Any thoughts/findings welcome!!
  6. its never going to beat everything - so win some loose some... if you enjoy driving it day to day, thats all that should matter.
  7. disconnect the wiring harness that connects to the sender - pull out a clip holding it in place - and lift the sender out. at least thats on a G60 - not sure about yours but wont be too far different... and not sure where it is on a 2l 16v.
  8. blue sender reports to the ECU (from what i know), black is for your gauges. if the gauges are correct, just change the blue one. About 9 quid in total iirc from GSF inc postage. ask for the o-ring too which holds it into place in its bed.

  12. Phat - are these solid shafts or do they have any bearings in etc? I am hoping I have sourced some driveshafts and have a powdercoating company waiting for them... But they raised this question. Did you just shotblast them or also paint them (ie powdercoat) too?

  14. well thats what i'm wondering - whether the g60s might be a little stronger. i'm guessing theyll cost a fortune new - and theres next to no chance of getting any up here from a breakers - so hopefully someone on here will sell some decent ones from a parts break up...
  15. do golfs have the same driveshafts? thinking of getting some donored ones, fitting them all up (as in your pics) then swapping them over. yes they do look good!!

  20. All down to personal preference really. I don't mind having the gauges out of the way. Those A-pillar setups aren't much to my taste - but agreed they are easier to see. I've had a boost gauge fitted just sitting in the cubby under the ash tray for about a 3 months. Every now and then or after doing work - I will check the gauge. Or get a passenger to check it as I'm driving. I wouldn't bother looking at it every trip out...
  21. sure, it might be more visible there - but i just want the gauges there to check periodically - i wont be looking at them as i'm driving. Plus i only want 2 gauges - all the mounts i have seen for mounting in the ash tray are for 3 gauges and i dont want to waste money on 3!

In addition to various threads made in the past: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33957 and http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24695 I had to replace one of the 3 G60 fuel pipes last weekend - the hose joining the fuel rail and the fuel pressure switch (right hand side of the block looking from the front) - heres the part number: FUEL HOSE: 037 133 999 : £8-9 and also the clips you want: CLIP: N 024 122 2 : £1.20ish each HTHs
