  1. you should always change the gaskets! Gasket for the inlet manifold is about £7, exhaust manifold gaskets around £4-7 iirc, both from VAG. You'll need them both. My manifold cost £300 new so guessing £150 depending on condition. lots of posts on here about how to fit a tubular manifold - supersprint AND manifold will find you the info within seconds
  2. Superb Garry :) How long did this job take roughly?
  3. but there are wheels that are big and are light anyway!
  4. it'd be advisable to get both balancing and tracking done.
  5. i haven't gone ahead with my purchase of a reconditioned rack yet - these threads keep making me hesitant. Supercharged - how long have you had it fitted? And apologies up front - was it yourself that wrote up briefly about fitting it while the car was on axle stands? Thats what I'll be doing shortly - any info/pointers would be superb mate :)
  6. I couldn't agree more tbh. I don't know how such a price can be justified...
  7. ok, any chance of re-posting that list but with a reader friendly description beside each part number please Dennis? :)
  8. a new g60 rack from VAG costs £700.48 exc VAT... Hence why I'm getting a £159 recon rack from ECP!

    track rods

minkey wrench - is that a dirty one? ;) hehe Bill I'm doing this job in just under 2 weeks time. I should be able to help you through it afterwards...
  10. personally think 17"s look too big on a Corrado. 16" is the best compromise. For now my 15" RMs are spot on though - look great, give great acceleration and great handling... My old 17"s were horrendous - good bye and good riddens!
  11. I think the g60s and vr6s attract different kinds of people. A lot of the g60 owners i have spoken to would never swap it for a vr and likely the other way around. have a chat to people, try and get a drive with owners of both cars and read read read. if you buy a g60 thats not mint and you want to work towards it, prepare to spend A LOT of money. Same applies to an earlier vr no doubt, but a lot of them are younger so you'd likely save money in the long run...maybe... And it also depends on how capable you are as a diy mechanic. as said previously, vrs are more complicated and harder to work on... Come to think of it, G60s are just at that age where a lot of broken ones are appearing (sadly), so parts are easy to get and usually cheapish. HTHs

    Brembo brakes.

how much of an improvment would you say they are Bill?
  13. _leon_

    Brembo brakes.

depends if you want to go to the expense of powdercoating... but it wont be expensive. to bead blast my rocker cover and have it powdercoated in silver cost 35 quid - if that helps put it into perspective. not sure about reconditioning the brakes...
  14. dudes just trying to be helpful! Cheers double-6s ;)
  15. fitted about 5/6 months ago and its been great since... just to clarify.

    track rods

nice! although i'm not sure the UJ is worth doing personally - and yeah it all needs done - but unfortunately my suspension is still to do!!! I'll keep you informed of how I get on with the rack - and how it was doing the work :)

    track rods

ok thanks for clearing that up :) since ordering the rods tomorrow - i'll cancel the ends then! Luke FYI I'm going ahead with the reconditioned rack from ECP - going to fit it 2 weeks on friday. I'll let you know how I get on. Thats why I'm just replacing the lot around there - its not THAT expensive - rack @ £160 (ECP), rods (now realised with ends) @ £50 each (VAG), boots @ £9 (factor), new clips @ £1 (factor)... Next CV joints and driveshafts...

    Juddery Clutch

is that not an inner cv joint?
  19. _leon_

    track rods

i'm replacing the rack and track rods - will i need ball joints for connecting the two then? got my track rod ends ordered too....

    Sensor Renewal

some are very cheap - but others are pricey...
  21. @G60Dub the guy i spoke to today from gsf said they are able to supply them (I didnt think so either) - within £10 quid of the price given to me by ECP. Are you still looking too?
  22. The crank pulley Darren is priced at £270.48! Unless GSF sell them too...
  23. does anyone know where is best for getting reconditioned steering racks? GSF? ECP?
  24. Cheers - just need to know what seals are the right ones from GSF then I get on with the job:)
