  1. No its on the standard pulley and I have just fitted a replacement belt that I bought from VW. Am I doing the right thing by checking the tension - twisting it laterally to 90 degrees?? I'm positive I read the belt should do this if it is at the correct tention. Perhaps the belt is fine and theres just a pulley (or two) with tired bearings that I need to locate! What sound would I expect from the water pump if it was gone? Thanks again - help appreciated!
  2. How can I do this? Slightly related to Tatties recent post, I too have worn out bearings on one of the pulleys (probably alternator or idler pulleys) and have realised that the serpentine belt is too tight - I cannot twist it laterally by 90 degrees. On cold starts I can hear a grinding sound that is related to the belt - intermittent grinding type noise that is very hard to locate. I'm thinking this is either the above or the the water pump? Thanks for any help!
  3. Reject it. And btw - you said its not the dealers fault... Well they were still willing to let you buy it weren't they.... get a refund
  4. its a fact that cars cost you money and by changing you WILL lose some money... Keep the G60 and once you have it running the way you want it (with some niggles of course ;) ) you will not look back when i had 2nd thoughts and wondered about changing to a VR6 (my original choice), friends put the sense back into me by saying 'you already have a Corrado - stop wishing for another one...'. Eventually i seen the sense and after sorting things I'm happy and like Steve above wouldn't change it to any other type :)
  5. I truly believe that every Corrado will have niggly little things that will annoy you. I constantly have a list of things to do/fix on mine. Therefore I'd say stick with the G60 and use the extra money you may have to improve it. Even after buying a new car, theres probably initial changes youd want to make that would cost a fair bit... Its a question of sensible vs want...

    Gearbox

and may I ask how much oil is needed for a G60 gearbox??
  7. well I have no complaints from my VT front mount - manifold is being purchased next week :)
  8. dr_mat is right there - I've just had all 3 mounts changed on my G60 and the mechanic had exactly those words to say. However, that was a non-VW garage that did the front and gbox ones. On taking it to place that was full of VW enthusiasts (you always bloody find them after youve just taken your car somewhere else...) they had it sorted quick sharpish :) But definately sounds like its a done mount... Positive my original front made a mess like this...
  9. I've gone to http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk as suggested by Andycowuk. They are about £304 with £17.50 odd for delivery. Part number to look for is 885901 (I think)... Btw Chris - when you were getting your supersprint system, assuming its a G60 one and not VR6 you went for, did you get the 91 or 92 version of the pipes? Your car is the same year as mine and I wasn't sure when asked... You can have a look at what theyve got here: http://www.supersprint.com/a_prodotti.a ... llo=vwcor1
  10. some new mounts would hopefully sort the blowing then! What I can say is I recommend getting all new mounts in - it was expensive but the results are good hardly any movement when taking the foot off the pedal now! but thanks Brian - thats convinced me it should be fine :)
  11. Sure. But I can't see how my 3 mounts I fitted last month (including Vibrtechnics Fast Road front) should be a problem for it. Engine movement is now minimal although the setup does allow for a little movement although very restricted. Is a solid REALLY necessary? I need convinced...
  12. So Steve, they could be removed over the top then? I've just had a VT Fast Road front mount and both rears replaced with new OEM mounts. Would this be 'solid' enough?
  13. thats interesting tbh. you reckon an afternoon would sort it all out then without having to take the car in (apart from correcting the fit of the exhaust...)?? What about removal of the existing manifold and downpipe? Think these could be brought over the top too?
  14. for the sake of about 35p I could find out for you how much they go for on eBay ;) I would probably put it up either here or there. Andy did you fit your supersprint system yourself? (exc the manifold) I'm guessing it can easily be done yourself and that I'd have to get somewhere to fit the manifold - probably a nightmare of a job. ears still open to thoughts... :)
  15. and yeah I have read that wrapping the manifold is quite important so will look into it - thanks Brian
  16. cool - I'm starting to feel more inclined to the 4 branch manifold idea tbh. I'm still very much interested to hear opinions from both sides though. For simplicity alone the supersprint block to rear pipe route would be easier I think. Andy, what do you reckon I could expect for selling the existing manifold on ebay? Thanks for the help guys - very much appreciated! :)
  17. ok - I'd be interested to know how well this downpipe would fit with a supersprint system... Only thing is, I am in Scotland so this route may be a tad difficult. Still very keen to hear opinions on the 4 branch... The flange on my downpipe is knackered as is the front pipe, given that the pipe is looking tired and a new exhaust system is being bought, may aswell go the whole hog next month :)
  18. What was the fitting like with the existing Miltek system? Any problems? The thought of having to remove the manifold first, then fit it all sounds expensive to me. perhaps I'm wrong, but initial impressions... What condition was your manifold in before getting it ported? And what was it like on return? Anyone with experience of the supersprint manifold please SHOUT!
  19. I'm deciding on this at the moment and can't choose. I'm replacing my entire exhaust system with supersprint pipes/boxes front to back for my G60... Has anyone experience or a view on which is perhaps a better choice (expecting Andycowuk to comment sooner or later :))? The price seems to be around the same. Issues concerning me are sizing + fitment, durability and performance. Any help would be appreciated and I reckon this could be a useful discussion for quite a few folk Leon
  20. Exactly. My current exhaust is almost drowning out all the noise, but on listening to a video taken at the weekend, I could hear the whoooosh... love it!
  21. AND I'm supposed to be saving at the moment....
  22. Cheers mate :) Yeah I do love the leather. When the leather has been treated and the inside is totally clean, its awesome (in my opinion!). Tbh the black inside and out totally sold it for me... As for progress I've been busy 'correcting' things. Fixing: - horn - locks - interior bits Replaced: - various pipes in boost system - airbox with k&n - all engine mounts (VT front and OEM rears) - 1 or 2 pulleys (more to be done though) - serpentine belt - PAS belt and pulley - new coolant (after a hose burst the other day in Edinburgh) - oil changes, filters - plugs - lights - replaced speakers Next lot of work includes (in no order): - full supersprint exhaust - rsr outlet - possibly miltek downpipe/supersprint manifold - eagle f1s all around - parcel shelf - few interior bits - mocal oil cooler - good tune up - boost gauge - new gearbox fluid - replace crank bolt with one from DX engine (as suggested the other day by G-man) - replace petrol tank belts - fix a few rust spots - refurbish wheels - get speakers in both doors working! - fix rear calipers Sorry mate - you did ask!! That should keep me busy for the meantime... :)
  23. Yeah, I have just done all of mine. As mentioned, VT/solid up front and std rears. Heres the part numbers and prices: Std PG rear: W535 199 262 @ £79.71 inc VAT (very expensive though I got money off :)) Std PG gearbox: W3A0 199 402 @ £48.03 inc VAT GSF are a good bit cheaper though - just I thought it was sensible to get from VW after I'd set aside enough money for them all. btw - double check the numbers are correct as my local dealer managed to mess up the order twice. Cant really go wrong when you say its a PG block. HTH
