I've just fitted a supersprint 4 branch manifold as the downpipe needed replaced. Just be aware that while the fitting is good, it makes contact (on mine not on andycowuks) with the boot on the steering column annoyingly - actually designed for a left hand drive car - which may not be obvious at first. You should be able to find a cheap and easy solution though - I can let you know what i do next week. There are other manifolds out there if you wanted to go down that route.

i'd probably be up for that

Supersprint Manifold & Full Exhaust system - Heat shield

however, i have just taken it to a center to get a few more rubber holds put on, check for any blowing and to do an emission test (for free :))- therefore buying me another week if theres a problem - turns out its all good - passed the test! now just need to sort the boot issue... -

Cheers Kev - only thing is the boot is actually touching the manifold - unless I change the shape of the boot (or alloy sheet for example) then it will still touch. Perhaps a boot that isn;t as wide would be better? Is it possible to use a boot from another VW? Or still use a wrappable gaitor that I can dictate the size of? -

Funnily enough I have just had the manifold fitted today and have found exactly the same problem - why the hell didn't I read this thread a month ago... I now have a melted hole in the column boot. I am about to go and inspect exactly what is under the boot just now - but can anyone give any other suggestions as to what I should do? I have my MOT next Friday and need it sorted quickly - I am anxious this will be pulled up as a potential fire hazard! Esp since the two are actually touching. I have considered removing the existing boot and replacing it with a sleeve that allows you to wrap it around the object (e.g. column) and join the sides together - should behave the same as the existing boot. Any thoughts or suggestions? Kev - I can't think how I would hold the alu sheet in the same place? -
you can drive it without the belt - i have before.... theres a few posts about hwo to easily change the belt - i ended up removing the pulley

thats really smart! i was wanting one such a gauge at some point - that will do nicely. wish i had something similar for the boost - save me having to install a dial
-
even when i took mine to kwik fit for a free check the car had to be lifted as the front splitter wouldn't allow the car to even be reversed onto the ramps - it was at that point where i decided action needs to be taken!

I must admit I am extremely tempted, put in my leathers and sell the current one. Need to think carefully :)

been wanting to do a good long drive in the car for ages now - just if i come i'll be letting others down so... next time if i know a day before hand i'll be there
-
going to have to wait until next time - too late for me to cancel things really :(
-
whats the route you have in your head?
-
let me get back to you then. at what point would i join you then if i came along? leaving work at 4 today i think.... not sure i can do as i'm supposed to be having folk round for drinks to start the night off - though been waiting for such a drive for some time
-
well, VW never got the damn parts that I ordered - they had the wrong number of bolts for the inlet manifold (replacing all the bolts etc) - so I didn;t get the 4 branch fitted today :( not impressed as this is a repeat offence... rant over lol Now, do i make an emergency cancellation and not go out tonight and instead take the car out round aroute I've been itching to do or suggest making it Sunday for a full day event?
