the three piece trim is meant to be clipped on, and there are also screws at either end, you should be able to pull the front edge up and then push the trim towards the rear of the car and it should relese but as the clips are usually broken or missing most windscreen places bond them down, i had to use a craft knife with the blade all the way out to get at the sealant under the trim while lifting the edge up.

sorry yeah i only replaced the tensioner a month ago due to buying a cheapo one which made the belt rub on the cover, i have the halfords leads at the moment too but i usually replace the leads anually and halfords no longer do the silicone leads for the g60 and now only sell the copper versions for twice the price, i had heard a few good things about the beru's before and as one of the leads pulled out of the connector the other day i needed to get some anyway diagram is from http://www.volkswagen.msk.ru

ta, yeah i have just ordered the head bolts and my mate said he has a box full of the manifold studs so i dont need to order them this is what i just ordered 1 x 056109119A Genuine Cambelt (056109119A) = £9.56 10 x 06666 Head Bolt (06666) = £5.80 1 x 917.835 Elring Head Gasket Set (917.835) = £53.63 1 x 12403 Thermostat Housing (12403) = £3.20 1 x ZEF561 Beru Lead Set (ZEF561) = £16.83 ------------------------------------------------------ Sub-Total: £89.02 Free Delivery (UK Mainland): £0.00 VAT @ 17.5%: £15.58 Total: £104.60 not too bad compared to previous cars i have done, especially the mr2 and the bond bug. are these torque figures correct for a g60?

i think it must just be bad luck or just the age of the cars you have had as mine is still on its original exhaust from 91 with 140k on it, according to the receipts for my old mr2 which was a 90 on 75k it had had 2 new exhausts before i had it and i had to replace it with a stainless one as it rotted, also a friend of mine has two Fiat Punto's one is R reg and has had 3 exhausts and the other is X reg and has also had 3 including a new cat. the only thing wrong with the corrado exhaust was the heatshield came loose on the cat and the rear hook hanger started to crack, which has now been replaced with a nice stainless hook.

if they are original they are held on with strong double sided foam tape, best way i found to remove them was just pouring warm water over them while pulling from one end, try not to bend them too much while removing them as they will stay bent.
-
cheers yeah think i will order the manifold studs and nuts as i think one is missing on the exhaust manifold, do you get new seals for the injectors with the head gasket set? i'm not sure if its worth ordering the bits before i remove the head just in case its something else, but then again even if i have to replace the head i will need a new head gasket.

by looking at the other fuel pump post it seems that stealth had to have spacers made up to make a sytec pump fit properly clicky

According to demon tweeks the reason they brought out the T1-R was because too many people where complaining of the T1-S wearing on the outside. it seemed the T1-S was fine for light weight cars like the Lotus Elise, westfields, caterams ect, but on heavier cars the tread towards the edges was a bit too soft and tended to wear quicker than the middle, which happened on mine, i had 4 wheel tracking and camber done twice to try and sort it then demon tweeks suggested trying the T1-R's and it has been fine since. the new design also improved the wet weather grip appearently. for 195/45/15's they are 35 quid each fitted and ballanced so even if they do wear out quickly they are cheap.

i'm not sure if the same rules apply regarding the sharp edges behind the dash as its not a kit car, there have been plenty of completely stripped bare cars that i have seen go through an mot, the vw motorsport shifter wouldnt even pass the sva but people who fit them to golfs and rado's have no problems with the mot, i cant really see anything behind the rado dash that would cause a problem with the mot.

wait till next year and as soon as he comes down your chimney, beat the crap out of him with a baseball bat, and if you get caught you can just say you thought it was a burglar and it was self defence. what do you think SANTA is an anagram of? its no coincidence they both wear red.

looks like a good start to the new year  for the last couple of weeks when i have started the car after leaving it a couple of hours it starts with a misfire which quickly cleared after about 5 seconds, it was also loosing a small amout of coolant which i had put down to a leaky coolant flange, as i had no noticeable loss of power and no sludge in the oil, i didnt think it would be anything serious but this morning on the way home the coolant light came on shortly followed by the dreaded plume of steam from the exhaust and a misfire, luckily i was just down the road from home so managed to limp home. i have been meaning to do some work on the engine as its had a bit of a rattle mid revs since i have had it which wasnt sorted by new tappets and i was led to believe it was probably the big ends, i was also thinking about getting the whole engine balanced up as well but what else should i get done while its off the road as i would rather do it all at the same time? also what head gasket should i get? would an OEM VW one be best or would i be better off getting an uprated metal one?

have you been driving the car much since it came out of the garage? you would most probably notice 50grams of weights missing even on the back, have you got any wheel wobble.
-
yeah just a self adhesive wheel weight, have a look at the back of your wheels for a clean spot the same size and if you find one stick them back on with some strong double sided foam tape.

the ones with the porsche script are also solid and dont have the insert like the golf or cheaper porsche ones, my mate got a set from a porsche for his golf but they are the cheaper ones with the wood grain effect inserts. the solid ones with the porsche script are good quality aluminium and really polish up well, and look especially good polished with the porsche writing body coloured.

you can buy tools from machine mart to joggle the recess for a mk2 door handle, but you would then require some paint and maybe filling work to be done.

Give it time mate they will reply. If youve got pictures of the damage and of the hole you shouldnt have no problems. I damaged my wheel in November 05 and finally got a paid out in August 06. The council may send you a letter saying they do not accept responsibility and then refer the claim to their contractors who actually fix the roads. I wonder if they treat e-mails the same way as road works, there will be one person actually reading the e-mail while 6 others stand around doing bugger all, 2 more with clip boards, and a site forman.

i dont actually know  my mate dropped them off and picked them up, i will ask him tonight (i think its somewhere near rednal)

944 handles fit directly onto a golf without modification, they would look a bit old fashioned on the rado though and wont fit directly as the recesses are different as far as i know, 968 handles would look better on a rado, smoother and more modern looking.

it really is worth getting them powder coated rather than sprayed, i found that with spray painted wheels the brake dust really ate into the paint, also when you get a chip in the paint it tends to bubble up below the paint and corrode the alloy quite quickly, powdercoat seems to resist bubbling and is much more resistant to scratching and chipping. i paid 80 quid for 4 wheels to be bead blasted and powdercoated silver with 3 layers of powder coat laquer, but i did get them done at the same time as a mate of mine was getting all his splitty camper parts powdercoated as well.

surprise surprise the day after they received my e-mail the hole has been patched up, but judging by the bodge they have done of it, it will probably be exactly the same next week, they didnt clear any of the loose gravel that was in the hole and it was still full of water when they threw the tarmac in to it. still havn't had a reply to the e-mail though, probably due to everyone being off for chrimbo, how do i go about actually claiming from them?
-
usually an earth problem, but was your mobile phone anywhere near the dash at the time? merry christmas btw

my RM's, freshly powdercoated with brand new centre caps and bolts ready to be assembled, just got to decide whether to go for the 1.5" stainless rims because they are going to be £320
