its not the brush that does the damage its any dust or grit the brush picks up and then drags across the lens repeatedly the noise you mentioned was probably the laser struggling to read the disk as it bounces up and down trying to find the disk surface . lens cleaners do sometimes work but i would not risk it on a 400 quid dvd player i would rather whip the lid off and clean it with cotton wool and distilled water

the same happened to mine before i bought it and he just had the door repaired and re-sprayed it looks ok in daylight but looks a totally different colour under orange street lights. when i first had the car the boot also had loads of small rust spots around the rear screen where the glass had been badly replaced so i searched on ebay not expecting to find one at all, only to find one from the same age car in the same colour and mint condition which i won for 27 quid 8) that was about a year and a half ago, then a week ago i saw a tornado red drivers door on e-bay which i won for 20 quid and was the only bidder 8) when i phoned the guy up it turned out to be the guy who sold me the boot so i know the colour match is perfect 8)

have you ever seen the lcd plates that go black when they detect a flash (no use for mobile scameras though and damn expensive) and also the ones that rapidly pulse each lcd letter in turn which looks normal to the naked eye but only displays one or two of the letters on a photo
-
nice edit henny   40degree angle
-
erm no ir=infra red the same as your telly remote out of the visible light spectrum
-
you would need very wide angle ir led's as different cameras are on different axis and normal led's have a very narrow beam (you can prove this by pointing your telly remote at a camera and then changing the angle of the remote) you dont need to block out the whole plate though because they cant use a partial plate to prosecute you. it may be more effective if the light source came from the middle section of the plate (ie through a series of tiny holes behind the letters on the plate maybe)
-
 you could say the car was up for sale and someone came to test drive when it got flashed. but he didnt leave his name (or a fake name) so you have no idea who was driving 8) surely that would work :)

me too 8)

richard hammond and james errrr tall posh bloke

i suppose this would work for non slip rims as well after i nitromorsed the rims i put my works caddy van on axle stands put the wheels on it put in 4th gear and left it running while using a light emery cloth to get any scratches or bits of paint left off which worked really well and also keeps the spun finnish to the alloy 8) (WARNING putting your hands near a wheel spinning at about 40 mph is dangerous and should only be attempted by trained idiots) also does anyone know the make of that 2 part lacquer that was mentioned for the rims i have searched but cant find the post :?

it sounds like the reason for the high price is due to the adapter being a smart lead (not just straight connections to the analogue audio) definately looks like your best option though as my mate said the pioneer hu's are very easy to kill if you mess with the wrong wires on the ip-bus cable :(
-
this also depends on the model of the hu. i have just spoken to a mate of mine who said that with the earlier models it was possible to make a straight analogue input cable but the newer models(starting with the oel display models) have more built in circuitry on the ip-bus system to cope with the newer add on devices tv,dab, cd changers, md changers, aux input ect) thats what the o-n switch on the newer cd changers is for appearently o=old head unit, n=newer headunit i do have a pioneer audio to rf adapter that came with the tv tuner (to be used if the headunit is not ip-bus compatible) but its not really the best thing for perfect audio allthough i have never actually tried it
-
one way might be to get a knackered cd changer and use the output board  i might even know of one that was involved in a big car accident the case is crushed but the o/p board may have survived  tbh 25 quid for the adapter is pretty damn cheap considering the cable on its own is about the same price or more i would have thought there is some kind of id circuit as when a new ip-bus device is added the system has to be re-set to discover it :?
