  1. thevisualedge you da man 8) ive been looking for this for ages :D where the hell did you find it ? are there any more cool ads about? ooh and i just noticed its an mp4 so it will work on my phone as well 8)
  2. i would never have anything done by d*ne in chester i heard a lot of horror stories about them, including a mate who bought a brand new polo took it in for its first service it took them ages to do the service (said they where waiting for parts to arrive) when he jet washed it a week later a patch of laquer peeled off the door, on closer inspection the door had clearly been re-sprayed over the top of the original paint and laquer to cover a foot long scratch. as it was winter and the light was poor he hadnt noticed it before, d*ne denied all knowledge at first, but eventually agreed to put it right after a lot of hastle. d*ne in wrexham are a bit better(probably because i get my new work van serviced there) but the prices are still very high. no dealers seem to be interested unless you have a new car. dont know what i would do without the internet stores like gsf,ecp or avs
  3. on the inside of the bottom half of the airbox you should be able to see some tags around the outside of the tube try bending these out of the way a bit which might help. it did take a lot of force to get mine out (nearly gave myself a nose bleed when it finally released and smacked me in the face) try prying it out from the outside lip of the tube if the above wont work .
  4. yep just brute force mine was a sod to get out just a bl**dy good tug should do it :)
  5. driving around chester today and saw a new renault megane cabriolet which had very similar karmann stickers at the base of the front door frames :?
  6. take the cat off and have a look inside it should be a a nice even honey comb pattern, put it up to the light and you should be able to see all the way through if there any melted looking patches or loose bits its fooked :( a cheap way to de-cat is smashing out the old ceramic with a big metal bar 8)
  7. has your water level dropped? any loss in performance before the smoke? any chance the oil could have leaked into the exhaust as that would probably cause the smoke when you had stopped as the cat was still hot? the extra oomph from the new charger could have helped blow an allready poorly headgasket.
  8. best thing to do with the g40 is remove any identifying badges as they look more or less like a normal polo. 8) the look on peoples faces when they think they have been wasted by a standard polo is hilarious. something like this really...........
  9. make sure your system has a good ground i ran a bigger ground to the head unit and made sure all the earth points where clean and totally bare metal which cured it on mine

    shafted

ignorance is no plea in the eyes of the law so saying you didnt know the speedo was inacurate wont get you far. :( i tried that with my bond bug the speedo used to bounce like hell untill 60 so i couldnt get a true reading, the copper who stopped me (doing 40 in a 30 ) was laughing his ar*e off, he said he didnt think the bug was capable of 30 let alone 40. thats the only copper i have ever met with a sense of humour. :) i think your best bet is to get a good lawyer :(

firstly i agree with the others that is defo too quick for a 30 limit im not sure if its true but cant you ask to see proof that the speed camera is calibrated if they cant produce that they cant do you ? also do you use a vehicle in relation to your work if you do it might be worth mentioning in court as they may be more leanient if they think your job is at risk(worked for a friend who was caught doing 115 on the m1 got the maximum points and a hefty fine but kept his liscence) if you do loose your liscence please dont ignore it and keep driving however tempting it might be, as my father was crashed into by a banned driver and lost out big time as he was only tpf&t

  22. you only really need one cable hidden to charge the battery in an emegency just run a small cable from the possitive of the battery and fuse it near the battery with a 10A fuse when you need to get in just connect a battery/other car to yours neg to a bare point on the body and pos to the cable then just unlock the door open the bonnet and charge it or jump start it normally the fuse will prevent any risk of fire in an accident
  23. did you know you can buy a new de-lorean 8) there where parts left over when they went bump enough to make loads more as they where never registered you can have them on a new reg i think you can get a new one for about 25k ford gt 40 old or new 8) suzuki escudo pikes peak edition 8) 8) aerial atom 8) and a bond bug (my first "car") would be in my list

    newbie question?

the starting problems are probably due to a faulty blue teperature sensor ....ive just had the same problem they are cheap and easy to change this may also cause the high idle but im not sure
  25. as mentioned earlier in this post i thought the shocks may have been inserts ........well i changed them this afternoon and just out of interest i removed the treaded cap from the top of the strut expecting to find a removable cartridge, and after a good tug oo er the shaft came out and covered me in bl**dy oil  it seems they are fully serviceable dampers with removable seals and guides  where these ever fitted by vw? i did see a description of an american guy servicing his shocks and putting a thicker oil in them to stiffen them up. the right hand shock and top cap where pretty knackered and it feels much better now :D
