Wasn't too much hassle getting parts really, especially with the internet, i could of had A/C installed too but i guess this is more about me wanting a change more then anything. Its going tomorrow morning, i'm dropping it off at 6.30am so i'm feeling a little weird tonight, can't beleive it won't be sitting in my garage anymore :gag: Actually i do have some more recent pics, the latest ones i used in the ad to sell it... passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfImported Photos 00237.JPG[/attachment:3khvmq3z] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfImported Photos 00247.JPG[/attachment:3khvmq3z] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfImported Photos 00245.JPG[/attachment:3khvmq3z] Imported Photos 00249.JPG[/attachment:3khvmq3z]

As title, after alot of thinking over the last year or so, and nearly keeping it to go VRT, i sold my Corrado this week just gone. Well, its still sitting in my garage but the new owner has paid for it and its being transported to Canberra next week. Feels like i've lost a limb already!! Good news though, looks like i'll be having one of the 200 Aus delivered Mk4 R32s, a Black Magic Pearl 3dr (only 50 in BMP over here) with only 33000kms on the clock :D Main reason for it is wanting a change, Air Conditioning :camp: , a 24V VR6 engine and 4WD ready for force feeding!! Love the grip and go that the R has :norty: I'll miss the Corrado and still visit the forum from time to time, this place has been a good place to visit since owning my G60, would seem weird not to have a look on here anymore!! I expect i'll be looking at the FIVR6 thread for some good info and advise 8) Cheers all 8)

Anyone else had this problem?
-
OK so i found my thermoswitch behind the ISV there, unplugged it, turned the ignition on, then off and the fan started, i waited for a while and the second speed kicked in when the fuel pump comes on as well. It went for about 10 minutes, then stopped. So then i turn the ignition on then off again and it all starts up again!! Also to throw another problem at me, it had blown fuse No20, so the brake lights didn't work either, i've replaced that. Questions!!! Does this sound like the thermoswitch to anyone? How do i remove it? Whats the part number for it, is it G60 specific??
-
Cheers guys, the relays are in front of the header tank. the only way to test that is to put new relays in right?? Are there any other sensors for the fan anywhere else?

My '92 Corrado G60 has been playing up alot recently. The other day it fried the headlight loom cos the switch broke. It keeps blowing fuse 14 which stop the reverse lights from working, the mirrors and windowa. So i've had the headlight loom fixed, i had the battery disconnected for a while before hand, and since reconnecting it and getting the lights going, the Radiator fan comes on as soon as i turn the ignition on then off, even if i don't start it, it still comes on when you i turn the key to the off position. I've un-plugged the thermo switch on the rad which didn't make any difference, anyone have any ideas, is there another sensor near the fuel rail? If so i can't see it one!! Any help much appreciated! Matt

Nice one mate, glad you got it all sorted and on the road, it looks good, hows driving a Lefty for you? Getting used to it?? -
I have just pulled apart one of my broken (early) switches expecting to find the broken tabs but didn't. This switch was brand new from VW last year, i had it sent here from the UK. It lasted about a week from memory! It looks like one of the wires for the light bulbs inside the switch had broken off, no idea how, possibly faulty from the start, click on the pic to see it better, climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdf012.JPG[/attachment:2jsdz1zk] Which caused this little spring loaded dome thingy (sitting to the left in the pic below) that sits in the hole that my pen is pointing at 015.JPG[/attachment:2jsdz1zk] To become lodged into melted plastic on the switch where my pen is pointing!! It must of got hot in there when the wire came off?? How unlucky!! 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf014.JPG[/attachment:2jsdz1zk] So the dome had sank into the plastic, and stopped that whole part of the switch from being able to slide, hence the rocker was jammed and it felt like something had broken or became dislodged inside it. When that switch broke back in March 09, i never looked inside it, i was going to send it back to VW but never got around to it, i replaced it with another second hand one which i always had to force from the off position to get the headlights on, i pulled it out and could here something rattling around in it, but it stll worked so i had just lived with it. Until yesterday when a guy went to MOT it, wasn't used to the switch, couldn't get the lights to come on, and the next thing there was smoke pouring out of the dashboard vents because the headlight switch loom was burning its insulation off as described in this thread viewtopic.php?f=19&t=31462 Snap!! This was the cause of it, broken green filter, piece of plastic inside it caused the short by misalligning the contacts. Nightmares :cuckoo: So if your headlight switch feels hard to use, then i'd pull it apart asap, or you might have a small fire and even more of a headache! Good news is that i got one good switch out of the 2 broken ones.
-
Thanks for that link mate. That would be exactly the cause of my problems then, damn headlight switch again, looks like i'll another one of those as wel as fixing the loom... :cuckoo: EDIT Just made one good switch out of 2 switches, neither of them had broken tabs though, different problems! :)

Thanks for your help guys. I'd say it must be the insulation breaking down, it smelt like melting plastic, started coming out of the vent and vent open/close thing nearest the drivers side window. Does make me wonder about the dust though, my cars been sitting in the garage for over 2 months now i think, havn't driven it for a while. I used to get a very small puff of smoke if i just held the wiper stalk up enough to get the wipers to clear the screen every minute or so in light rain. My headlight switch has been replaced twice last year, the original one died, then i had a brand new one give up on me in under a week. The one i've got now has to be pushed hard from the off position to get the headlights on! Just the parking/side lights were on when the smoke was coming out. I've booked it into an Auto Electrician for Wednesday.

What a nightmare of a day i've had, first someone fitted a tyre on the wrong way round, then; I went for an MOT, the guy comes out and tells me theres smoke pouring out of the dashboard!! It happened when the lights were on. Its been blowing fuses for the mirrors which also stops the electric windows from working, related? any ideas or should i just go to an Auto Electrician? Matt

Ha Ha oh man i know where you're coming from with the love/hate thing, i've lost count of the times i've put mine up for sale then changed my mind!! I'm about to try and sell it yet again!! I think i'm serious this time!!, i've had it for nearly 7 years and i just want something different now. I was all inspired to VRT it not too long ago, i nearly bought a donor VR6 Golf to do it, was very close! The wheels look nice! Maybe you'll feel different when its all back together? But then the novelty might not last long!! I think that once the idea is in your head to sell it, it keeps coming back to haunt you until you finally say 'thats it, i'm selling it now'. There are plenty of reasons why i want to sell mine, i think of one more reason ever so often and its enough to tip the scales again and make me want to sell it!! What would you get if you sold it? I want a R32 now, already 4WD 24V, ready for Turbo fun, look great etc

Corrado modern classic, custom cars had their day?
carpoid replied to OSV's topic in General Car Chat
Each to their own is the way i look at it really, the more that get broken the rarer they are so that doesn't bother me at all! Things i can't stand seeing are; "Pulled" wheel arches, where the flat part of it has dissappeared. Those hideous crystal M3 look rear lights, they don't even line up. All after marketf ront lights look wrong imo. I don't see the point in different wing mirrors. I absolutely hate Lambo style doors (on any car that didn't come standard with them) Side skirts, RS4 style bumpers. Single wipers -
Sounds promising, how about i order one online and send it on to you, then you post it on to me? All i would need is an address from you to send it to. You could weigh it, then let me know how much shipping would cost, then i could transfer cash to you, would it be possible to pay you with a credit/debit card?? Cheers much appreciated Matt
-
Thanks for your help guys, i can't order online to get one posted out here but i will try calling if i ever get time :mad2: I would ask my parents to send one but my grandmother has passed away so they are too busy atm :( Doesn't look like i'm gonna be back on the road for christmas at this rate!!
-
I know but he won't split the set, i only want one !! Cheers Matt

Sounds interesting, i'll look forward to seeing what parts you're using to make up the kit, any clues?? Short Runner? Custom Exhaust Manifold? What size Turbo etc??

Thats funny, when i bought my Corrado in May 2004, i got it off a dealer in Croydon, who had a Blackberry VR6 that he called a Storm, i didn't realise at the time that Storms were only Blue or Green so went along with it etc, it was badged as a Storm. I can't remember seeing a tow bar on it but i can remember that it had around 40 - 45000 on it. I wonder if its the same car and someone has misread the mileage, i mean how many Blackberry Corrados would be out there with Storm badges on them?

Awesome stuff :norty:
