Sorry for the newbie questions here, i havn't really looked at VR6 engines closely before, let alone ones with Turbos :help: But i have to ask, where is the MAF located on a VR6 Turbo? Inbetween the Air Filter and Turbo? With the BOV, are yours re-circulating Kev and Shaun? I was looking at a Skyline engine earlier today (my second year apprentice has one!) and noticed his BOV is fairly close to the inlet manifold, with your set-ups with the Air to Water IC, would it be too close to the throttle body if the BOV was there? Looks like there is no room for it and i was reading that its best to keep it as far away from the TB as possible, Is it still healthy for the air to surge back through the IC before reaching the BOV? I'm guessing it must be good to do what you've done or it wouldn't work so well :) Just like to know how it all works.

How are you finding the 4WD is feeling ? Had you driven a Corrado with 4WD before this one?
-
I'm looking at building one too mate, but i think one of the first things i would do is the gearbox with the LSD and the pistons, seems logical to do those things first to me, you'll need an LSD with 350hp, and you'll have to lower the compression also, so you may aswell do that properly with the pistons It will save you having to strip it down and rebuild it again, you may aswell do it right the first time and make sure your motor is going to be able to cope with all them extra ponies :) Keep us updated on how you go 8)

Nice looking bay Stormchargedman, whats the little thing to the far right next to the PAS fluid, looks like a tennis ball in a flower pot??!! Or a smilie in a policeman bobby hat! Nice nails too :camp:

 Feckin awesome mate, bet you're happy, i love it, looks stock, love the colours, one of the best without doubt
-
Oooh err :norty: Does look good with the standard one on there, but if its restrictive then off with it  Good to know the CDA's are fairly quiet though. Have you got enough room for 2 slimline fans on your rad there Kev? That must have super-cold intake temps with that chargecooler, the water gets pumped through a pre-rad hidden in the bumper doesn't t?
-
Yeah its nice and subtle like that too, could you use the standard air box too, or does it make a big difference using a cone filter?
-
I'd like to hear one with and without a short runner, yours doesn't have a short runner does it Ben? They look like an awesome setup with the chargecooler right next to it.
-
Sure i won't from what i've seen and heard :) What are the specs on yours Ben, couldn't seem to find much on it....

Pretty much yes :D I honestly can't think of anything i'd like more than a VR6T in it. Not only the end result but they look like a really good project to get stuck into, i'd really enjoy building one. Its got to be the way forward for me, like i said i would love a VR6 and kinda wish i'd bought one instead of the G60, but this way i get to keep my car on the road whilst taking my time to collect parts and build the engine up slowly. If i had a VR i'd end up taking the car off the road to rebuild/upgrade just about eveerything for FI anyway. Time to find an old VR6 engine and start from there i think
-
This is true. I have seen a '93 VR with early bumpers and buldge bonnet, with early interior too. Never seen a pre '92 G60 or 16V with early bumpers and buldge bonnet though.

You would HAVE to bring it with you, all that hard work man, don't sell it whatever you do - unless its to me of course :) If you like your surfing and open roads with hardly any traffic lights then you'll love it around here mate :) V3's, sorry i'm taliking about KW V3 Coilovers, from what i keep reading these sound like they're definately worth investing in at the moment, there was almost a group buy for them back in '05 on here but nothing ever came of it, so i went for the Konigsport silverlines too instead, but i find them a little harsh and crashy on some of the rougher roads around here so i know what you're saying. I'll be buying the V3's next. Keep us updated
-
Amazing Corrado mate, i just about read the whole thread yesterday, as said i'm sure you'll sort out the minor issues of noise and crashy suspension, the hard work has been done. Yours deserves some V3's i reckon :norty:

The Rally has been going on just up the road from me, 1000's of people showed up over the weekend to watch it, also a few locals were protesting about it and threw rocks at some of the cars :cuckoo: It is very green around here, loads of twisty country tracks, always thought it would be good for the WRC

Thanks for your replys guys 8) i'm aware that the logical thing to do would be to put a 20VT in it, it would be cheaper and easier, it would be powerful enough and i was almost hoping that someone might convince me to do it in a way, hence te questions, but i think my mind is set on the grunt of a VR6T, you just can't beat the noise they make and it is for me i'd prefer to have an engine that is of the same era and one the Corrado was sold with originally 8) I just don't get excited about 20VTs, sorry!! I did think about 24V but they are alot harder to come by in Australia, (no Golf V6 4Mo's here only Bora 4 Mo and 200 R32's) and when they do appear they can be pretty pricey, i'm just not convinced that its worth doing, seems like alot of work for not a whole lot more power, i can appreciate thir benefits but not for me :nono: 2.8l VR6 Golf engines are fairly easy to get hold of here, ALOT cheaper too, perfect engine for Turboing, sound awesome, perfect for Turbo action especially now more people are doing it and sussing out how to make them reliable etc. Its just going to be hard to get other larger parts for the conversion like sub frame, steering rack etc.... :brickwall: Cheers 8)

Hi all, i'm in need of some opinions/advise here! :confused4: My Corrado has been up for sale for a few weeks, but after having hardly any interest i've decided to keep it, to cut a long irelavent story short i'll just say i never wanted to sell it and will find another way to do what i wanted to do with the cash i could of sold it for. I'm suprised it didn't get snapped up, i think if it was a VR6 it would be long gone, G60s are unheard of here let alone Corrados. The thing is, if i lived in the UK i probably would of sold it to get a VR6 by now, i kind of wish i did go for the VR, i love the noise they make and it would of been nice to have that updated interior, and now i've been reading alot about VRTs it makes me want one even more  So, if i want a Corrado VR6T i really only have one option, put a VR6 engine in my G60. Although it would be a 2.8 out of a Golf. :camp: I'm thinking i could get hold of a VR engine and take my time rebuilding it whilst its out of the car, and prepare it for some force feeding at the same time :norty: I'm thinking that to build a reliable VR6T i would need to replace/upgrade alot of it anyway, including the gearbox and driveshafts. i wouldn't want to just bolt on a Kinetics kit, i would go for most of the Schimmel gear with a GT30 or 35 turbo. I guess my questions are really what else would i need to convert my G60 to a VR6, or, do you think i should get over it and just get some more power out of the G60 because it would be too much hassle. What i can't get my head around is the elecrical side of things, how complicated would that be? If i was going from VR6 to VR6T would all of that need changing anyway? What exactly is OBD2?? :confused4: Can anyone help?

Sounds like someone stuck them on to me. I have a '92 G60 same spec as yours and mine doesn't have that, never seen it on any others, and i've seen a fair amount of late G60s on this forum.
-
Is yours running the GT30 stil??
-
Perfect, i've been reading about turbo VR's alot recently, sounds like some serious fun. How do you find 400hp on a fwd car, is it as scary as it sounds?

Hi all, these pics were taken at the first GTI International i ever went to in the mid 90's, i'm pretty sure it was '96, i'd been wondering where they were, recently my Dad stumbled across some of them at their house in Ipswich, he emailed some of the Corrado ones over. One of them is Leonards on this forum; passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfVWshow2059[1].jpg[/attachment:ds1tfp75] Another ABT one there, maybe a G60 ?? Can see its an early one. climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfVWshow4061[1].jpg[/attachment:ds1tfp75] Mystic Blue Storm with an interesting numberplate  2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfVWshow1058[1].jpg[/attachment:ds1tfp75] And i'm sure i've seen this plate on this forum on the Green Storm VWshow3060[1].jpg[/attachment:ds1tfp75] Just wondering if anyone recognises them and thought it may be interesting to see a pic of your car 13 years ago!! Matt

Newbie question here, with the Garret Turbos, what is meant by Free Float?? How does this work, does it still have a Wastegate :confused4:

Wouldn't that be number 3? I say go the Hilux too, in Australia there are plenty of pick-ups(utes) and seriously the Hilux always wins hands down, they are indestructable, ridiculously reliable and great to drive.
