  1. Thats cool, i take it they were not just raving about the VR6 if it was yellow? Were any of the Golfs in there too, or any other VWs?
  2. Oh OK, wondered what was goin on
  3. OK, just curious to hear what its like compared to a NA VR really, but like you say, anything i hear online isn't going to sound like standing next to it anyway i guess. V8's pffft, sick of the sound of them!! But yeah, they do sound good.
  4. Wow, missed all that somehow :confused4: I love what you've done here with the exhaust, and the whole engine for that matter, but that sounds like an awesome thing to do, i'd like to avoid the Cortina smell too if poss :) Is there any chance you could be an internet hero and post a small video so i can hear it? I would expect its fairly quiet with that set-up, most VRT's i've listened to online i only hear exhaust noise, i want to hear more what the short runner set-up sounds like 8) I'm off to get a Passat VR6 donor car to start my VRT fun next weekend, and meeting a guy in Brisbane who has a 4x4 Corrado that had a 16VG60 in it, to be replaced with a 24VT, should be interesting :)
  5. Doh, sorry i meant say discs :cuckoo: Too much reading through this thread :gag: I'll try again, So you're using early VR6 Passat discs right? :)
  6. So you're using early VR6 Passat hubs right?
  7. Cool thanks Jim, i wonder if he's also realised that the VR ABS rings are different also, they are 10 mm or so thinner. They come fixed on to the hub with 3 self tappers , and have clearance holes in them for where the wheel bolts come through the back of the hub. The only way i could think of keeping my ABS rings was to fit the G60 rings on the VR hubs, mark through the wheel bolt holes with a permanent marker pen then drill them/grind them out to clear the wheel bolts.... Imported Photos 00054.JPG[/attachment:18w9o7x9] Hope some of that helps, i thought i'd done my research well too till i found that one!
  8. Please do post up details, because i'm using redrilled G60 discs and i'm not all that keen on it, although i've never heard any horror stories about it, i'd rather have discs that will fit. Not only do you have to redrill them to 5x100 but you have to shave some off the insides to get them to fit over the VR hubs that are about 7mm bigger in diameter. Does your car have ABS Dave?
  9. I like it, looks a bit like my Mk3 04237cba95c8fa6ed247ffe442c5f792.jpg[/attachment:memau26k] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdf447561948b5e53ce2a61a9bf47831dbd.jpg[/attachment:memau26k] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf98f3fb5251db94e5109630834fcdf129.jpg[/attachment:memau26k] :camp:  :brickwall:
  10. Mmm, where is the 'rough guide' ? I'm looking at a basic summary, just to get a handle on the basics and hardware requirements. Page 5 of this thread mate 8)
  11. Very nice mate :) i love the colour too, love the black badge, did put a black back badge on too? Rear lights look good, how do the pinstriped resverse lights work?
  12. Sounds like a bargain mate, anymore where it came from ? :D Seen this Mk2 R32T running Unitronic? 600whp, bit of drag and dyno action for you
  13. Cheers for that Kev, i've just been having a look on Vortex and it seems that a Passat is probably a better donor car than a Golf would be http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1532356 That guy just wants to get rid of that Passat by the sounds of it, i reckon i could get it for a good price and he's only a couple of hours away
  14. I'm already 5 stud, but not widetrack yet, i've just got the VR6 outer CVs and hubs done atm.
  15. You're not going mad mate, i asked in the FIVR6 thread, you're not using an MAF are you? A MAP instead? Cheers for the info though, you seem very clued up on all this VRT stuff, awesome to have you on here 8) Any ideas on using a Passat as a donor? Cheers :)
  16. :norty: Not sure what i'd do with the G60 tbh, either try and sell it or put it in a Mk1 Golf. Won't be till next year though, i want to build the engine up out of the car, get everything ready and then do the swap. :)
  17. ozowen Hi mate, yeah i just moved around to find the best place to live that i could find really. Thanks for your VRT pics, the reason i've been asking is because i'm looking into converting mine into a VRT, sounds like alot of fun to me  _leon_ I'm a Cabinetmaker at the moment, making things out of wood etc is what i've been doing for the last 15 years :) What do you do?? Yeah, no salt on the roads is good, people get a shock when they look at my engine bay :pale:
  18. Yeah i'll definately be going widetrack too mate.
  19. I have been on the lookout for a cheap VR6 Golf, so i can convert my car into a VR6T. No luck finding a Golf but i've found this '95 Passat with only 160000 kms http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 2759.l1259 I'm aware its an Auto, but that doesn't matter, i can soon get hold of a manual gearbox to rebuild. What i'm wondering is whether these and Golfs have the same subframe as a Corrado? I'm not sure if its worth buying something like this or getting just an engine and box as i can see me buying alot of the other parts new anyway (driveshafts ,brakes etc) Any advise welcome 8)
  20. Seen this one guys?? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1190533.htm I've been looking around at Corrados on the interhighway and the prices are all over the shop aren't they
  21. Not really, got the ideas off here 8) Drive forwards all the time :D , or mask them up or pinstripe 'em. They look better with the reverse red, but they don't work, i've done both on mine, got them red at the moment but i might do another set and pinstripe them or mask them up completely again. Just make sure you clear laquer them or they WILL fade in a few months :gag:
  22. Word up Gdawg :D  I reckon with your painting skills to pay the bills you could get an ol' set o lights and paint 'em right on up :D You could do a better job than most people mate 8) Just pinstripe them so the inicators don't look like you like pressing the brake pedal on and off, some folk may find that a lil confusing :D 9653614340233_0_ALB.jpg[/attachment:3u99evo5]

Did you google John Spurgeon ? I did and found this http://www.aerographics.fsnet.co.uk/site/index.html His work is pretty amazing. Like i said, its up to you what you do with your car, but i guess me and a few others think its a bit strange to have a pic of your car, on your car, thats all
