  1. Really nice, what miles are on it?
  2. Nice car, love the interior top class re-trim, those splits look well also.
  3. I fit the mrk iv rear calipers on my early valver at the weekend since the old ones were sticky and the handbrake was dodge. I replaced the plates and put new disks/pads/bearings/lines on. I’ve yet to bleed the brakes as Im upgrading the fronts also so I don’t know how they are on the pedal, the handbrake feels a lot better tho even if the cable needs shortening. I put mrk 3 rear pads on with the existing carriers (im not sure if mrk iv carriers will fit) they are less thick than the mrk 4 pads. I appreciate all the advice and help from the lads on here its a fairly straight forward job once you have all the bits, the only thing that held me up were the lines I finally got the kit from C+R.
  4. Have you tried cleaning out your ISV and replacing the Idle control switch on the N/S of the head? (green and red wire as far as I remember) I read before that the timing belts can jump a tooth or can be out by a tooth causing them to run like muck.
  5. You could also soak your ISV in petrol for a few hours to clean it out. If its revving high it could be a switch check them all on the dizzy side of the head in case any might have broken one off I snapped one when doing head work that caused idle problems (not sure if it was the ign) Also might be worth checking the pipes around your air box and throttle body even the air box itself (sitting right on the down pipe) if anything is loose or not aligned correctly it can cause such problems. Might be worth cleaning your TB out with some carb cleaner while your at it, I recently found a messy TB was causing a similar problem on my mrk iv (after only 26K !)

    strut brace

They did seem a little small for the job, so what then do I bond them on or get the drill out?

    strut brace

Just wondering when fitting upper front strut brace do you have to drill holes in the bay near the top mounts to alloy bolts to secure it in place? I noticed a couple of small screws in place already do these play any role in securing them ?
  8. Just off the phone with GPC they no longer do this kit as VW have increased the prices charging for each part as oppose to a complete kit. £100+ would be the cost of everything separate going on the current prices
  9. I like those wheels are they BBS splits? I like what your doing with the Mrk 2 my corrado is currently being used as a storage container also :)

    Red Rado

Very nice I hope to be getting my red 16V up to the same standard pretty soon now that my engine bay is worthy of the task. Whats the drop 50-60mm? Is it a 1.8 Kr 16V? :thumb right:
  11. I have the same in my early 16V must be a poverty spec thing
  12. Has anyone retro fitted a mrk iv steering wheel to their C? Saw a nice anni wheel going there on eBay thought it would look well in the corrado.
  13. lambo Gallardo - heard a chap trashing one in france last yr unbelievable noise Noble M12 GTO 3.0 - very special noise from those twin turbos Ferrari 575 has to be a ferrari on the list E30 M3 Evo with the right manifold sounds V special! VR6 corrado one of the best sounding VW engines Ive heard nice noise coming from an E55 Brabus and an 996 MTM turbo also.
  14. late valvers dont have that cirular boss on the left hand pipe they must be the 42mm ones.
  15. Did they come on the early 16V corrados? Im nearly sure Ive the same one on my 1.8. - 1989
  16. You’ll get that repaired, any decent panel beater could get that out without much filling, better to get it repaired yourself than go to the insurance for sure. It would be a close call on a cat C if you were to make a claim. Make sure to get a chap that does quality work and remember you get what you pay for in repair jobs. (unless you go to a stealer that is ;) )
  17. Nice setup, I’ve heard of lads dropping 60mm with 17s Im not sure if its a good idea for everyday driving I suppose it depends on the number of speed ramps you have to face on a daily basis.
  18. Those rear brake plates can get quite messy also I recently found out.
  19. Thats the one, didnt know it was in july this yr.
  20. Nice motor will it be out for the NI show ?
  21. I must check this as one hub did seem a bight tighter than the other when i had them back on.
  22. Good info here Henny might be worth adding to the knowledge base?? I have some pics also if you want to add them in or perhaps you can take a few of your own when doing the job? It might be worth mentioning the rear brake plates also as this seizing seems to be mainly associated with the older corrados I found my rear plates were totally knackered they almost fell off when I took off the hubs. It took over a week to get them in from a dealership! They would prob be quicker over in the UK but worth thinking about as it held me up on the last hurdle. Was looking at my A3 rears (same as mrk V) yesterday and they look the same as the mrk ivs they may be slightly bigger but Id say you’d get a 256mm disk on them for a big rear upgrade. Haven’t a clue if they’d fit the C tho.
  23. Not a big job to do, if your disks and pads are in good shape just do the bearings. Have a pot of grease handy also when fitting the new ones.
