Can't work out if it's a mk1 or 2.

Hey guys, bit of a simple one for you: I'm in process of rebuilding a head and two of the hydraulic lifters have play in them, a, can they be rebuilt? or b, is there a particular process for replacing them (i.e. can i just oil up two newuns and slap em in?) Finally, is a skim of the head always necessary? I've run a straight edge and feeler guage along the face and it's within the Haynes tolerances. Cheers,

I tell you what mate, that is fantastic work. You've added a lot more than £370 to the value of that car, that's for sure. -
That's ok, I think I may have just seen sense anyway :)

Hi mate, 1982 is X reg isn't it? is it a T25?
-
That's the plan, really fancy a ratty T25 on air ride. What sort of money are panels going for then?

Hi guys, I'm playing with the idea of keeping the C standard and buying a VW camper. I imagine a few of you guys have a bit of experience with the older dubs, so what should I be looking for? What engines are best etc. My budget won't be more than £3k so a Bay is out of the question but I think I prefer the T25 anyway. Any tips/info on different models etc. appreciated.

I know this will get locked immediately.... perhaps not....

I know some of you are being a bit tongue in cheek but even so, I'm not sure that this thread warrants this much abuse. There have been thousands of scientific discoveries/inventions throughout our history that flew in the face of "real" physics and traditional science and we acccept hundreds of things everyday that we can't see. Just chill FFS, the guy wants to try something so let him try it. I don't believe for a second that we've reached the pinnacle of any kind of propulsion technology, that would be stupid. -
cool, that'll do me :D

PS Walesy what's the drop on that suspension I bought off you?
-
or how about some flippy roundy number plates a la bond 8)?

Just getting the funds together for the rest of the parts mate. then I'll be cooking on gas!

lol Ok so quick update, my project is somewhat on hold due to fund shortage, the tax runs out at the end of the month so I've got to get it MOTd and taxed by then (I haven't anywhere off road to store it, so may as well be driving it) Currently rebuilding and polishing a KR head to go on (may as well do it properly - thanks quicky1980 for your wisdom and help on Sat) and then once he's back on the road I'll sell my escort to pay for the rest of the project. Not ideal, but by doing it this way, I've got the money from the escort to pay for parts and I can also make a few quid back selling the 16v with management as a drop in conversion. Not to mention the saved costs of only one car on the road. The good news is obviously that I'll be driving the C each and every day in a couple of weeks time :D Can't wait. And yes, the lowered suspension is going on too Sam!

Surely at WOT the advance is more than 70 degrees. -
Hear hear  I think a different coating would make a hell of a difference. You can buy that rubberized soft touch paint from the US, great stuff. Chop out the middle and fit a tounch screen PC, MK4 clocks, few servos for the heating - jobs a goodun  EDIT - tounch screen lol!

Yeah thanks for sorting my Aston for me, you did a good job 8) -
unlucky mate, some people on here have mentioned that they've seen these claims go the way of the shunter rather than the shuntee if the braking was dangerous/unnecessary, so you might be alright. Haven't personally encountered that though.
