  1. I was thinking it would be an issue with the transponder in the key no? Year, model etc etc would help somewhat
  2. What are you on about any lengths? gearbox was for sale in Cardiff and I bought it - hardly walking across hot coals is it :lol: I haven't bought it just because it fits straight in (although it's handy that it will), even if it didn't I'd have bought it, the ratios suit my engine perfectly.
  3. mk2_20vt, Thanks for all the info, I reckon I'll be changing the output flanges to 100mm and going G60 from there to the wheels. 24V Renshaw, I hope you're watching with interest! Might need yer help with some electrics questions :) rmn, the part number is on the top of page 2 - the box is from a 2005 Golf GT 2.0 FSI and no, I didn't buy it new if that's what you're asking! :shock:

  5. Cool I'll have a look. I was planning on going G60 for driveshafts/hubs - they'll go straight in won't they? Or is that why I'll need the 100mm output flange? Also, Yan - i read on vortex that the GT'll do 60 in 6th @ 1800RPM if that's any indication, mind you it's a pretty torquey motor
  6. Hey guys, I was under the impression that the 02M is remarkably different to a Corrado box. Didn't take any phone pics of the GT box (coz I'm a fool) but seriously, it looks identical to the box that's in my C I'll try and get some pics this week (can't find camera charger :mad:) EDIT -- hang on, were they only fitted to Golfs in may 04?

  14. thanks mate, any ideas what model those are fitted on? I'm assuming that direct replacement means I can use G60 driveshafts/hubs?
  15. I know a ton of conversions have taken place on here, just wondered if anyone had successfully fitted the 6 speed box from a newer Golf into a C - and how much jiggery pokery it entails. I may be doing a motor transplant but would love to go 6 speed too, just not sure about how much hassle the mounts/driveshafts would be as I wanted to keep corrado hubs/steering etc.
  16. yeah, there's no denying G60s are quick motors. I was just surprised how close the figures were. How's your hunt going anyway? Also, Has anyone on here got a new versio of ETKA that would show whether the 2.0 FSI is the same base engine as the T-FSI? I think that would be a tidy upgrade, someones bound to wrap one round a tree.
  17. TBH I'm quite tempted, I'd like to see what a remap'll do to it, have just fired an email off to custom codes, I'll see what they ocme back with. Will have a look on vortex to see if anyone's done anything charger-wise.
  18. i see, so the FSI torque comes in lower than the G60, that makes for a nice lazy drive. I might have a search around for whether the TFSI stuff'll go on. Congrats on the PVW mention BTW Kev best of the day ;)
  19. I wonder if it is the same block etc. as the TFSI or the twin charged FSI - sounds like a plan. Get n/a now then add the chargers once the finances allow. Anyone on here know much about them?
  20. It'd probably be a case of flattening out the torque/increasing low rpm torque for me as most of my driving is dual carriageways (40, 50) and motorway cruising at low/medium revs. what mods affect torque most?

I'm not having a go mate, I've been in a G60, I know how good they are - I haven't been in an FSI so I appreciate someone other than yahoo cars telling me what they're like :lol: but the figures I based my original post on (G60 0-60 clearly now wrong) would suggest similar power from a new FSI without the complications of a charger. Can't find anything on performance upgrades (exc. 9bhp from a superchip :roll:) so i guess the engines are at the limit as is - or are they the same as the TFSI sans turbo?
