  1. 1200 miles to LeMans & back - engine now much "looser" than it was before. Hit a French speed-bump at 40mph & all 4 wheels left the road. Broke a foglight but my suspension seems to have survived okay. :D Just need to get to a rolling road before fitting the front mount cooler.
  2. olly elworthy, My G60's running well at the moment - just need to fit the front mount cooler & get the mapping finished. Running approx 210bhp at the mo with more to come from the new cooler & new map. Check my sig for more details ..
  3. VEEDUBBED, G60 pistons will touch the valves. The fact that yours didn't depends on position of the cam, while you were turning the engine over. If any of the valves are fully depressed into the engine, they'll hit the pistons. Several G60's have been known to bend valves, as they were hit by the pistons.
  4. Talcum powder will quieten it down (temporarily) - permanent fix is a new belt.
  5. Are 40mm/35mm valves larger than standard on a G60 ?? Like samg60, I have a Jabba big valve head on my car & I'm certain the valves are bigger than 40/35.

    R1 or Lysholm?

ISV automatically bleeds boost once a certain pressure is reached. Unless you are going to address this issue, there's no point spending a fortune on a Lysholme.
  8. I doubt that aux waterpump failure would cause the headgasket to leak. Whereabouts in the country are you ?

    what oil?

Yawn, yawn .. This has been discussed so many times. VW main dealers (including the one that I used to work for) use/used Synta Silver in all Corrados - that's good enough for me.
  10. Nice looking car Mark ..
  11. g-man, The way to tell a "real" Stratos from a kit is the wheel studs - most kits only have 4 stud wheels - original Statos has 5. Shame we didn't see you there - maybe we can all get together in the circuit next year..
  12. Not good at all - this is the indicator as to where your problem lies - possible damaged head gasket or damaged oil cooler plate ??
  13. Try Brentacre insurance (Swansea) - I'm with them. Tel: 01792 650933 & ask for John
  14. Where have you moved the carbon can to ?? Have you obstructed air flow to the radiator with either the carbon can or the cold air intake for the air filter ??
  15. There's a company just outside Leeds called "Batley High Performance". They used to be & maybe still are "Superchip" dealers. So far as I'm aware they also do custom re-maps. Not sure of the web address or phone number though.
  16. Hi Paul - welcome to the forum. J reg will be one of the very first 2.0-16v's in the country. I always thought that K reg was the earliest ?? If it is what it looks to be & in top condition - I wouldn't go any higher than 2k. Be sure to get the car HPI checked before you buy it - there's a few dodgy cars around.
  17. Yeah - I'd be interested what that stuff is too - could come in very handy
  18. Tim Styles Racing (TSR) make them ..
  19. Yup - that's the one. Couldn't decide if mine was bent or not - now looks like it is.
  20. Insuranve will need to be informed of any tyre changes that alter the speed rating or are a different size to the originals.
  21. Car's now done 1000 miles since the rebuild & pulls really well. Just need time to fit the front mount cooler .. :D Need to change the rear axle ASAP - the one on the car is slightly bent. :( I'll do that when I get back from LeMans.

    G60

If the car doesn't come with a reliable rebuild certificate - get it checked ASAP. You'll likely be into a rebuild fairly soon anyway.
  23. U need a nice big intercooler to make use of all the space you now have behind the front bumper .. :D Car looks good m8 .. 0X
  24. I think the parts are fairly expensive for both. My mate's turbo was awesome. Handling is VERY different to most cars too. I would definitely combine buying one with a Porsche specialist driving course. Otherwise the car won't last long.
