At least you have a laugh every time you leave the car!

I've just been trying to drill holes in my pedals to mount some new pedal covers but I've broken two drill bits already and they were just sharpened. Anyone else had the same problem and how did you get round the apparently diamond hard pedal surface? Plus how did you wedge something behind the gas pedal to stop id moving with drill pressure? I used a block of wood assuming that i would drill through in no time but it didnt work.

So let me get this right - you've got about 8 leds for the centre control with a bit of hose around the front panel for diffusion. And you have 1 led to each side of the side dials with a vertical hose diffuser? Or have i missed some out on the sides? Of course there is 1 central led per dial.
-
Excellent i must say. Certainly one for my car. Have you replaced the spider optic totally and replacedit the "led tube" per dial as well as the satellite leds around the middle?
-
I gonna give it a go when I have a bit of spare time - blue leds for me though. Could you not link th eleds to the optics to aid light distribution? BTW, what's an EL sheet?

Don't know much about electronics so I would ratehr just follow someones wiring diagram and solder the items accordingly. Although i would agree with your theory Storm_Warning. So Lee, where the diag?

Well done that man. Where's the "How to" Andy? I guess the pics dont do it justice but how bright are the numbers on the fan switch? And is it just as simple as removing the panel and wiring some leds in there?
-
Yep, Diavia kit all the way! And yes it will be for both suction and discharge lines.
-
Well, sufficient to protect the hoses from the fan frame. Dont thknow the hose diameters, I'd need to check. But not more than about 25mm i guess. And we'd only need about half a meter or so tops. Thanks

Its resting at the mo - couple of bits need sorting (like they do!) but hope to have it on the go soon. I'll try and duck into Ace tonight around 7ish as I need to be in Alperton for 7.15. See if you can get there before 7 if poss. C U l8r Cheers bud

Us privileged creatures with aircon, what do you use to prevent the hoses rubbing against the cooling fan frame? My car has some pipe insulation which of course has become hard and is crumbling. Not a good solution i think, as the sharp edge of the fan frame will cut through the new insulation. Any pics of your setups/engine bays?

Thanks - something all the cabin-proud lot will appreciate, including me. How much for the ciggy surround Davidwort?

Good evening and welcome to our now pretty International forum.
-
Very nice. Cant wait to see the ones you cant show yet. All the best and, again congrats on a superb set of wheels. BTW, does your ISV give you any problems????? :blackeye: or is it just us normal VR owners who suffer?
-
Phil How are you m8? There's a place up Coronation Rd that does the wheels. Give me a call and I'll dig out his name. Plus gives you an excuse to come show me your motor.

I think you can get one from a Seat or an old audi 100. Need to get one too, but I might try some paint too as there arent many scrappies near my area.
-
Post up some more pics of the interior being done Lee - its good to see progress photos to watch the development. Plus yours has had a considerable amount of effort (understatement methinks!) so its good to see as a completed article from different angles.
-
By the way, do you have any pics of the cabin?
-
Hey Dinkus, whats happening with your old C? Were you able to sort something out with the insurers?

I guess the shaky pics say it all. -
Hey! welcome to the forum and glad you finally decided to add to some posts. Very impressive spec car you have there and I hope you continue to enjoy ownership.

A lot of cars nowadays have the feature that after a period of say 10 seconds, the cabin light fades out, rather than simply switching off like the C. Actually even the old E36 Beamer has this and thats also from 91ish. Anyone does this mod and if so, please share the details! Would be good with appropriate LEDs - I have red and blue in my car.
