I never really got to how the isv is operated via VCDS but (when mine was obd1) i just removed it, sprayed some lube into the flap and pulsed it with a 12v sourced directly on the connections Hasan

Right so i'm stuck on this somewhat. The pump runs, as i powered the motor directly and manually closed each relay, then switched the connections over and closed them again. So it creates both a vacuum and pressure. Now the car will unlock, the pump turns both from the fob and the key lock. But locking either from the fob or door lock dont seem to send a signal to the pump to switch on and close the locks. Where in the wiring should i be looking (location-wise)? Turning the key you can hear some relays clicking so i assume that the door control module is ok. So therefore is it the wiring between the door module and the central locking pump? Or could it be that three-way wire connector in the drivers door? Thanks Hasan

ok. Its probably the one i was redoing over the weekend - red wire, one of which loops back round to the connector? On mine, the wire had corroded quite far for some reason, ended up having to cut it back quite far because it just wasn't tinning. Made a t-piece in the end to solder the three wires separately but i'll probably cut that wire out completely from the harness and make it again...assuming it doesn't decide to break again beforehand!

Thanks, yes thats the same as the one i have in my car. Do you have a pic of the 3 way connector mentioned earlier? I'm also looking for the pinouts for the pump if possible. Took mine apart and powered up the motor closing each relay manually and it works both ways. So i assume the pump is ok. Ideally like to power it from the connector to confirm it's completely ok.

Any pics of this crimp? I'm still struggling with getting mine to work. I've now got three pumps, one doesn't work, the other seems intermittent and the third has the wrong connector. Hasan

Does anyone have the one without the two side channels (for pump part number 357 962 257). I believe that there are two types, the other fits the pump 1H0 962 257, this has the two slots for the connector. I need the one without the two channels Many thanks Hasan

sorry to hear that john, makes you not want to own a decent car or even look after it. Hopefully the coverage on FB will turn something up soon. Hasan

thats terrible. Can you contact the bank and say goods purchased were not in accordance with the description?
-
Good point, I'll check those on both sides. I've recently added some more insulation so perhaps its fouling and inhibiting the solenoid. Or something else around there.
-
Ah good suggestion. Its a toad ai606 so i guess there should be some way of doing that - anyone advise? I'll also check the air lines for leaks - how easy should it be to lock the doors through the air line? I imagine just blowing down it should easily unlock it?

Just bought a spare pump but the connector is different (doesnt have the two slot recesses on one side) It begins with 357 as opposed to 1H0. Is there a connector adapter that can be used to connect to the existing cable harness? Also, it has one less pin - any idea of the effect of this? Thanks Hasan

Wow that looks nice, but then again your reputation in revamping corrados is well established, Chris. Metallic shocks are a nice and unique touch too. Hasan

That Febi one looks ok to me and quite well priced too
-
Is it no longer available on its own? Demin water is only about £2 for 2.5 litres from Asda

So true! Hasan

Fantastic stuff Tony, who says corrados aren't practical!
-
but the corrado looks better though!

Hopefully this is the issue, i also have a slight clunk from the front that i cant identify - I'll certainly check those bolts too. Btw, should these structural bolts have any antiseize applied to them or will this adversely affect the torque and hence bolt tension (like wheel bolts)? I'm always concerned by either rust-welding on the one hand, or over tightening on the other Hasan

Some years back there it was suggested that the manifold from a 24v vr could be used with a bit of work. Obviously not a plug and play setup but might be worth considering/exploring?
-
Due to their design there's less risk of them seizing
-
Garages do that all the time with gaitors unfortunately. But the new track rods do look great and hopefully the issue is now solved. Hasan

I do find that once I've thrown my toys out once and stepped away from it, a few days/weeks break usually brings the interest back. James you're very right about replacements though. I've also got a Yaris T sport, great fun and quite economical too. But what I'd get for the money I'd sell it for wouldn't be half as fun...or useful. The Corrado really does tick several boxes though - rare, stylish, great street presence etc without the constant fear i know i would have were i to have a porsche or aston instead Hasan
-
James, what a brilliant account of your travails! Car looks superb as usual

Sorry to hear about the accident and hope you are ok Post up some photos of the damage from various angles, as a start.

Great results there, might give it a try myself Hasan
