Hmm, the Ignition Lead Sets on the GSF website say from 4/89, so guessing they aren't for the 9A engine. Are K1 HT Leads worth getting. I've seem quite a few sets on eBay.

Having a few problems with my 2.0 16v hesitating, and thinking about changing the HT leads. When I first bought the C just over 1 1/2 years ago I replaced the rotor arm, distributer cap etc, but never changed the HT leads, and thinking that perhaps I should now do that and see if it helps. Any recommendations on what HT leads to get? Should I just go with standard ones or get something else? Are the ones from GSF any good?

TVR Chimera - what the hell are they made from?

Take a look at this news article - you might not want one after reading this! http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/ViewArticle ... ID=1565942 -
Just found this on a 'Money Saving' website "I switched to shell fuel after my sister noticed a better return mpg. However, recently my partner my mum and I have had problems with our cars being a bit hesitant at times. We all use the same shell station because we liked the benefits of increased mpg. Anyway, my bloke then started going somewhere else as it was more convenient on his way to work and the problems resolved themselves. My mother and I have now both done the same and our problems have cleared up aswell. I think there must be some kind of contamination there." !!

Was hoping to improve the running of my C so filled up with Optimax for the first time last week. Prior to this, it ran ok, but at lower revs there just felt like there was some slight hesitation. Driving it today however, the hesitation seems to be worse! Could this have been caused by the Optimax? In the fuels cleaning efforts, could it have dislodged some cr*p and flushed it through to somewhere to cause this?

Was particuarly pissed off to discover two dents and a selection of scrapes/scuffs along the side of my C on Saturday morning. They seem pretty minor compared to some of the stories I've read on here recently about vandal damage, but annoying all the same. Happened on the passenger side next to the pavement so must have been done by a pedestrian. Not sure what they used as it's taken the paint off where they dented it. I was all set to finally get the dents in the bonnet sorted out this summer that I had obtained by what looked like someone having decided to sit on it last year, but makes me think it's just not worth it, if it's just going to collect other damage.

I had my mats from JustMatz plain, with no writing what-so-ever. Really pleased with the quality and they are a great fit. I went for the medium quality - Deluxe, and I can't fault them.

Has to be JustMatz. No contest.

Not really got another thread. I did post a few things in a thread about injectors as thought that might be the problem. So feel free to post advice in here if you like.

Fitted my new cold start valve at the weekend, and as you guys said, it was a very easy task! I'd sprayed the fittings with some Plus-Gas a couple of days before, and everything came undo nicely! Only problem, doesn't look like it's solved my starting problem! Guess I'll be looking at new injectors next? Also, probably ought to change the HT leads.

I had my expansion tank changed about 3 times by VW as kept getting the light flashing. Apparently it turned out it was c**p in my old radiator that kept getting stirred up and knackering the sensor in the expansion tank. In the end I had a new radiator fitted, plus a head gasket along the way - which I'll never really know if I needed or not - or whether it was just that bl**dy sensor playing up that made the dealer say the head gasket had gone! I've certainly learnt my lesson and will never take my C back to a dealer!

Well mine used to all lock by pressing down the drivers one when I first got the car, and then it stopped working and I thought I'd imagined it ever working, and then some weeks ago it started working again, but now it's not :( Could it be this cable that is mentioned above?

Unfortunately I don't have a serial port on my laptop.
-
That's interesting (and frustrating) about the 3rd party adaptor. I really don't want to have to spend out for a real Ross-Tech one, well actually I really can't afford to! Think I'll still check my wiring though.
-
Well I'm using a USB port on my laptop, but the instructions I got with the interface I purchased were to download a driver to sort of make the computer think that it's really a serial port and that I needed to use the serial version of VAG-COM. Just wondering if I should have done that, or should I have gone with the Ross-tech instructions for really using a USB port and subsequently using the USB version of the software? Any thoughts?

Got the ABS fault on mine again this morning when I started her up to drive to work. As usual, the ABS light stayed on for the entire journey. Thought it was worth another go at seeing if VAG-COM would communicate, but unfortunatley it still came up with the too many communication errors message. I know that a VW specialist garage that I used to use was able to successfully connect to the ABS controller about 1 1/2 years ago (as he found a fault with the brake pedal travel sensor - which he subsequently replaced), although he did mention at the time, that my ABS system was of the type that didn't store the faults and so you only got the chance to see the fault codes if you plugged VAG-COM into the car whilst the fault was still active. At what point did the ABS systems change, so that fault codes are kept after the car is switched off? Mine is one of the early '92 cross-over models, so wondering if the ones with the new interior got the newer ABS system. Guess I'm going to have to open her up and take a look at the connections for the ABS controller. Where abouts it is located? Is it easy to get to?

Please note that I am using an interface with an electrical isolator rather than optical.

Daewoo Matiz - Disabling Passenger Airbag
kerrinmay replied to kerrinmay's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks! Yes, my sister is planning to read the manual! I was just hoping to be able to save her the trouble! -
How easy is it to fit a new Cold Start Valve/Injector on a 2.0 16v? Anyone have any experience of this/instructions?
-
Sorry to ask about a Daewoo on this forum! But, my sister is about to give birth to her first child (my first niece/nephew!!) and she needs to know if she can disable the front passenger airbag on her 'W' reg Daewoo Matiz. If she can't get it disabled then she want's to have the thing removed. Does anyone have any knowledge on this? I can't seem to find any decent Daewoo forum - well none that people seem to post anything to!

Yes, like Redex and STP etc. Has anyone tried any of the NOS additives? http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/NOS_ ... tives.html
