  1. I've read quite a few posts on here about fuel injector cleaners. Some of you say to definately not use them in your C, whereas others recommend their use. What problems might I encounter by using one in my 2.0 16v?
  2. When I do try to start my C in the mornings, and if I'm not able to catch it with extra revs before it dies, then it takes ages with the starter motor going before it will finally start. So not sure if that helps to pinpoint the problem. Almost as if it's maybe flooded? I did all the usual things of distributor cap, rotor arm etc, although not done the HT leads or injectors - yet! Normally upon re-starting at a petrol station for example, there is no problem at all, no need for extra revs to start it, it just starts nicely. Any suggestions as to whether new injectors might help or whether there is something else I should try?
  3. I know it's off topic, but which green is your C Phil?
  4. Yes, it's a shame I couldn't get 409 to work, however it's strange that I can talk ok to the ECU, but just not the ABS. Thought it would be the other way around that I'd have problems. Maybe it's as dr_mat said, that there is a dodgy connection on my ABS controller that's causing this problem with VAG-COM and could also be causing my intermittant fault with the ABS system. I think my best bet will be to actually check the connections and just make sure. I did have a new brake pedal travel sensor fitted about 1 1/2 years ago which got rid of the main ABS fault I had (light used to come on intermittently whilst driving), and then some months after that I started getting this intermittent problem with the light just coming on and staying on sometimes when I start the car.
  5. Glad to see you getting the same comms errors as me with your ABS  Let me know if you discover how to sort it!
  6. OK, just checked and Euro are about 62p cheaper per injector, and as I have GSF local to myself will probably still go with them! Thanks though Phil, was worth checking!
  7. Flux do monthly payments now - although their interest rate is really high - about 34% I think the paperwork I got said!
  8. Thanks Blinky16v, it does help. Just need to work out how to sell this to my other half, that I NEED to spend about £140 on new injectors!
  9. Cheers Phil. I do actually have problems with starting of my car, mainly when it's cold (I think), and also sometimes it feels a bit hesitant when driving slowish around town. My C's only done about 96K so really not high mileage for a '92 model, but the injectors are something I keep thinking about whether to replace or not. Think I worked out it will cost me about £140 from GSF.
  10. Thanks Blinky16v that would be great. Are you actually replacing yours with new injectors? And if so, are they standard ones? Would be interested on another opinion on what difference you notice once they are fitted. Are you experiencing any specific problems at the moment that have led you to wanting to change your injectors?
  11. I'll be interested to know 'how to' too! As looking to replace my injectors soon.

    Rev Lights

Is there a 750rpm light? Where abouts is this?
  13. I thought I'd read somewhere that you needed electronic to be able to communicate with the ECU of the 2.0 16v?
  14. I've just switched from Adrian Flux to Brentacre, partially based on the stories that I've read on here about Flux. Premium is less and so is my excess. Also, I wanted to pay by direct debit installments and the interest rate is way better than with Flux! So I'm very happy with the whole thing! I told Brentacre that I was recommended by the guys on this forum!
  15. Maybe a dodgy connection is why my ABS light sometimes comes on (and stays on) when I start the car. Come to think of it, I'm sure it tends to happen more when it's either particuarly cold or damp, so maybe that's affecting a connection somewhere. I'll have to take a look for the ABS controller (is it easy to find?) and check out the connections.
  16. Maybe I'll just give it another go then. Comms issue might be why occasionally my light comes on and stays on, maybe a dodgy connection somewhere as dr_mat suggested.
  17. No worries! Any idea on my comms error with the ABS? The error comes up in a pop-up messagebox when it tries to connect to the ABS controller after a lot of clicking and blinking of the ABS warning light.
  18. Did anyone get to the bottom of this comms issue with the ABS? I got a similar error today, although this was in a pop-up box: VAG-COM: Session Unreliable Too many communications errors to continue! Any ideas?
  19. It's actually a USB port that I'm using, and the connection to the Engine ECU works fine now with v311, it's just the ABS controller that I have a problem with now.
  20. ok, finally got it working...sort of! It seems to find the controllers ok if I use v311 of VAG-COM. Bit frustrating as the interface/cable was was advertised to also work on v409. The ECU connects fine, however the ABS does lots of clicking and blinking of the ABS light and then gives the message: VAG-COM: Session Unreliable Too many communications errors to continue! Any thoughts on this one?
  21. Just had another thought, I'm running VAG-COM 409 which my third party interface is supposed to work fine with, however, is it worth me trying version 311?
  22. Thanks for all the advice. Really not sure what to try now. There is another chap at work that has a newer 2.0 16v Corrado, so I could always try him and see if I can have a go at connecting it up to his car. However, he doesn't really seem to be much of an enthusiast because when I've tried to talk to him before about Corrados, he hasn't seemed that interested. Not really sure why he bought one, and he doesn't really look after it, looks quite tatty with a snapped off aerial and an unusually rusty looking tailpipe on his exhaust.
  23. I'm running Window XP Professional Service Pack 1 and I'm also logged in with administrator rights.
  24. Thanks for the link! I just wanted to check if there was any further information. I did believe you  Anyway, based on described steps, VAG-COM will still not communicate with any controllers. Does anyone have any further advice that might get this working for me?
