Could Top Shock Mounts be causing the vibration? Would this be worse when turning than when going straight ahead?

Corrado Spotting! Was it you? [Archive November 05]
kerrinmay replied to Dub_nut_g60's topic in General Car Chat
Dub_nut_g60 was that you hurtling past me near Tesco's (North Harbour) last night (around 5.30ish I think)? I was sat at the lights in that road next to the 'Harbour Lights' (heading away from Tesco's) and I think it was you that turned left and drove down past me. -

Sorry didn't see you Dub_nut_g60. Had to pop back into Portsmouth as was having problems with my contact lenses. Seems that I'm allergic to the ones I've been wearing for the last 4 - 5 years! So I'm had to change for something else. At least I can see again now! Was getting quite blurry! -
That pic makes the Porsche look quite big compared to the Corrado.

Sorry, think I'm getting confused between the two Chris's and which car is which! My last comments should probably be ignored as just realised that it's the car you want to transfer the plate to that hasn't been registered properly!
-
Could get complicated if you are selling the car but haven't even got a registration document for it! When my colleague applied for the registration document that she'd never received in her name I think it took about 2 weeks. I guess that in theory you won't actually be able to do anything with either the registration number or the car until it's properly registered to you. Hope it all works out ok.
-
How long have you had your VR6? Haven't you had to tax it? Or did you use the green slip to do that when you first got it? We had a similar situation with a lady I work with - she never got the registration document for her car - but didn't realise she should expect one as she's from Australia. Unfortunately it wasn't until she needed to apply for car tax 1 year after buying her car that she realised she couldn't get any! And then had to fill in a form to send to the DVLA. In the meantime she had a car that she couldn't tax and ended up driving around for almost a month before her registration doc came through and she could tax it!

Thanks ZippyVR6, I'll see if I can pluck up some courage at the weekend to have a go! It's bugged me since I bought my C just over a year ago, but finally I've decided it has to be sorted as I missed a load of traffic reports the other week when Portsmouth ground to a halt due to the closure of one of the only three roads off the island and so was stuck in traffic most of the morning. If I'd had my radio working ok then I'd have heard the traffic reports earlier and wouldn't have had such a problem!
-
Another question about this before I also attempt to have a go at the weekend...it was mentioned about warming up the cone before trying to remove it from the metal base (to help avoid splitting it etc), are the two parts just clipped together or actually stuck? And upon putting it all back, should I expect them to just click back together?

Was it J** DUV? I saw him this morning in Southsea - lives quite close to me. -
These bits of trim (guess they'll be grey in my case with me having a grey interior) - do you just pull them to unclip? Or is there any special way I should be unclipping them?
-
What's involved in unclipping the back of the headlining? Are there concealed fittings that I need to get to?

Yep, just caught a glimpse of you as I was about to pass the BP garage. Not seen you for a couple of weeks now! It seemed like we were passing each other almost everyday at one point! Thought we were going to end up completely taking over this topic! -
Hope you've got this sorted out now - but it is definately the case that you only need to be the registered keeper of the donor vehicle and not the one you want to transfer the plate to. My partner and I did this back in July. He signed the form to release the plate from his car and to have it assigned to mine.
-
I agree with yalan, you should be able to transfer it to whatever vehicle you want - providing you have the consent of the owner of the vehilce you wish to transfer it to. I took the paperwork in my loval DVLA office on one day, and the transfer was complete the following day - and that was for transferring my plate across and assigning a new personal plate to my old car for my partner.
-
Yes, things do get a bit more complex with different owners being involved. When we transferred the plate off my old car to my C back in July, it was fine to transfer it from my old car (now registered to my partner) and put it on my C (registered to me), and then I bought a new plate for my old car which I had to have my partner's name added to for entitlement. The new plate came with an inclusive price for assigning it to a vehicle and so on top of that we just paid the £80 to move my plate across to my C. Not sure that my old car would have got back it's original plate if we'd not bought a new personal one for it as it has had I think at least 3 or 4 different plates in the past!
-
You will only have to pay one £80 fee. This is required to take it off your car and put it on another. An age related plate will then be automatically assigned to your car.

Does the set include film for the indicators as well?
-
Thanks for link. Think they'll definately be worth getting if I'm going to fork out for a new foglight. Would still be interested to know if there's a company in the UK (or Europe) that sells a similar thing.
-
Is there anywhere in the UK that sells a similar thing?
-
Does this film actually work? I need a new drivers side fog light as the stone chip has turned into a crack across the whole thing now and I really want to protect them in some way.

Still haven't had my wheels re-balanced yet, but found that all the tyre pressures were less than what they should be - bit strange considering it's only just been serviced - thought that would be something they check- also strange they they were all fairly even, with both front pressures pretty well matching, and the same with the backs! It feels a bit better now the tyres are correctly inflated, but there is still vibration around the 70mph mark. So next stop will be to get them re-balanced.

I've got a change-over C (early 92) and it's got the earlier electrics - so one-touch up and down on drivers, one touch down on passenger and no one-touch or full closure on the sunroof. Is it possible to get one-touch up working on the passenger window, and is it possible to get full closure on the sunroof? Would it work if I fitted a later sunroof motor and switch? Or is there just perhaps a control module that would do this?
