Where abouts on the ross-tech site is this specific info about the 2.0 16v engine and the baud rate? Can you post a link? Thanks.
-
ok, when I try again tomorrow, I'll be sure to set it to 4,800 before I connect and before I switch on the ignition. Should I switch on the ignition before hooking up the cables to the car?
-
The connector was advertised as electronically isolated, so hopefully it is! I guess I'll have another go later and see if I can sort it out. Maybe I'll try switching the ignition on, and then starting up the software, ensuring that it's already set to baud 4,800. In the meantime, any other advice will be most appreciated!
-
Thanks, I did set-up the start baud rate at 4,800. I've also tried changing this back to 0, although I didn't shut down and restart VAG-COM inbetween times. Can you also confirm if I could have the ignition switched on?

Just got my third-party interface this morning, so had a go at hooking VAG-COM up to my C, but it doesn't find any controllers. Not even the ABS one. I'm only really expecting it to find the ABS and maybe the ECU as it's a 2.0 16v, but it doesn't even find the ABS. First question is should the ignition be on when I connect? I've tried with both on and off and no difference. Second question is HELP!

Thanks. Just been reading another thread, and I think I'll struggle to fit a later sunroof motor to my early mechanism, apparently there is some indentation or something that is not present on the earlier ones which will cause the newer motor to foul. I guess you had no problem if you were actually fitting a different sunroof as well. As I have no desire to change my panel/mechanism, think I'll have to stick with my old style motor/switch. Would be good if I could link it up to make it close with the alarm though, even if I need to purchase some kind of closure module for it.
-
Thanks for the info. I like the sound of the third position for automatically moving to tilted. No one-touch wide open though? Guess I'll need a new motor, new switch and light and housing etc to convert mine across from the older style.
-
quicky1980 can I ask your reasons for fitting a later spec sunroof motor? Was it to get full closure working (because this isn't available on the early sunroofs)? What features does the later motor and switch give you other than this? Do you get one-touch opening/closing?

Just ordered my cables from eBay, so should have those in a few days. With regard to registering VAG-COM, have any of you guys just bought a licence from Ross-Tech, rather than the whole thing? Think it's listed as $99, so just wondered if anyone had purchased the licence only and what it had equated to in sterling - I make it about £52 at today's exchange rate. Also, if I don't register the s/w, am I right in thinking that it will still report all the fault codes, but just not give me descriptions, so all I need to do is just look them up?
-
Thanks for the info dr_mat. Think I'll be making myself a purchase of some cables.

Can someone explain a bit more about this electrical interface isolation coupling? I've got a 2.0 16v and just want to make sure I purchase the correct cables. In this something in addition to the interface cables, or a special type of interface cable? Also, does it matter if I purchase serial or USB when I get my cables? I'd like to be able to get as much out of VAG-COM as I can, so more than just ABS faults if that's possible. I've just checked my laptop, and I only have USB, so guess I'll have to order myself one of those type cables. Just hoping it doesn't affect what I can do with it. Any further advice will be much appreciated!

Corrado's were always a car that I'd liked, since I first saw one. Think it was the side profile and the curve on the bonnet that I liked, plus the rear spoiler. I'd never really considered getting one though, and it was only when we were looking for a more modern car for my partner (to take the pressure of the 1961 Morris Pick-up!), that I decided that I'd rather change my car and he could have my BMW E36 coupe. Unfortunately we didn't have a huge amount in the budget, but I knew I wanted a well built car - preferably German (my last two cars had been BMW's and I had a 1970 Beetle before them), and it had to be sporty and different. I certainly didn't want a 'common' car! In the end, looking around for cars within our price range I suddenly remembered my liking for the Corrado, and so that was that, the search was on!

I think that is the problem with my set up. I have Vag com which worked on my Seat Leon, but not the Corrado. RW1, Any ideas on the cheapest place to get a main lead with electrical interface isolation? I know we have spoken via email about this previously - I'm only just getting to the point where I've got time to try and get to grips with this. Can someone explain a bit more about this electrical interface isolation coupling? I've got a 2.0 16v and just want to make sure I purchase the correct cables. In this something in addition to the interface cables, or a special type of interface cable? Also, does it matter if I purchase serial or USB when I get my cables?

Where can I get a £15-£25 generic code reader from? And what would be a name to look for? Also, is it possible to download a list of all fault codes from somewhere?
-
Thanks - just took a look at that site. Now searching for a cheaper one on ebay, as can't really justify the £240 ish amount just to check out an intermittent fault.
-
Just found this on ebay - will this work for an early '92 model do you think? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAG-COM-OBD2-DIAG ... dZViewItem

I has a similar problem with mine where it kept coming on intermittently and it turned out to be the brake pedal sensor. I've now got a different problem when sometimes I start the car and the light just doesn't go out at all, stays on the complete journey. Annoyingly, my C apparently is of the type that doesn't hold it's fault codes and so I've never been able to get the fault diagnosed and it never seems to occur when I take it to a garage. Is VAG-COM a hand held device or something linked into an actual PC? I could really do with something portable that I can carry around with me, and then when the fault occurs I could just plug it in. Is VAG-COM expensive to purchase? Where could I purchase one from?

Corrado Spotting Was it you [Archive March 06]

1 could of been me if tiwas about 7:30 around waterlooville! saw a dark C heading South, didnt have time to flash/wave! Portsmouth home of the Corrado :!: Corrado spotting capital of the country it appears.[/quote:640cb] I've not seen any C's to wave to for ages - not since Dub_nut_g60 stopped working in Portsmouth :( -
Good, that's what I want. I'm fed up with having so much on my keyring. Still need to get the barrel on my drivers door sorted so that it matches the rest, and then that gets rid of an unnecessary key, and then if I get the alarm sorted that's the little plastic lump gone, and I'll just be down to my VW emblem, one key, and one remote. I did have one of those Corrado metal keyrings from Justmatz on there at one point, but it was just so awkward because of the length of it, plus I didn't really want to lose the thing. My current alarm is a horrible thing - it's a rather ancient Foxguard and the sound it makes when you arm/disarm is embarrasing! Plus the range on the remote is worse than worse. When I bought the car it only had one old broken cased remote and so I had to get an aftermarket thing which just doesn't seem to have a very good range, and the battery soon seems to run out. Also can't wait to have closure on the windows and interior light illumination. I had full-closure and interior light activation on the alarm on my last car which I had for about 5 years, and it was horrible 'down-grading' to the system installed on my C!
-
For those of you with Autowatch alarms, I just wanted ask about the immobilisation part of the system. Currently my C is fitted with separate alarm and separate immobilisor (Cat 2) and this means that I've got the remote for the alarm, plus a little plastic lump that deactivates the immobilisor. If I go for an Autowatch, will this all be combined into the alarm remote operation itself, or will I still have to have a little plastic lump? Also, because I already have a Cat 2, I see there are separate systems for upgrading this. However, I'm thinking that I might be better off just having a full system and completely replacing my current immobilisor. What do you guys (and girls) think?

So it just pops it open then, just saves you having to press the button in on the boot to open it. That could be very useful to have.
-
How does the second button work for the boot release? Does it actually pop it open like you get on new Mercs etc? Is this an option you can buy for the Autowatch alarm?
-
Could I expect a local exhaust centre to be willing to fit an exhaust that I supplied myself? And if so, what should I expect to pay?
-
Are you saying that the Venon one comes with the headlight surrounds?
-
dub envy where did you get that grill from. Just been looking at some other threads and the pics I've seen don't seem to include the bits around the headlamps. And that looks like a good way of making the whole thing secure.
