So is that how the Rieger grills come then? Is that the genuine article? I'm thinking of getting one maybe in the summer, so nice to see what you actually get before I order one. The pic on the website I was going to order from only shows it on the car. What do you think it would cost to get one of these sprayed up?

I did actually finally fit my aerial before Christmas. I went for a brand new one rather than trying to bypass the amp, and it works lovely! Was dead handy this morning to be able to listen to travel bulletins!
-
What about Green Pearl Effect? Anyone got any pics showing colour-coded number-plate surround and also colour coded front grill? Was already planning to colour my rear vw badge as I bought a black one and it looks naff against the green.

With regards to sports/performance exhausts - what sort of power gain could I expect to get? Originally I was just after a new exhaust for better sound etc, but now I'm starting to think about how to get more performance out of my C. So for my 2.0 16v I'm just wondering how much extra hp I could get from changing my exhaust.
-
Thanks for all the advice. With regards to changing the whole system, I would rather do that, it's just that I don't really want to waste the middle silencer that it probably no more than about 3 - 4 months old. Also with regard to the insurance thing, so if I had a custom exhaust made, do you think I'd just tell them it was custom and that they would be happy with that? Or would they want to know how much extra power it might be giving my C etc?
-
Thanks - seems worth a look. By the way, does having a custom exhaust cause any problems with regards to your car insurance? What sort of details would I need to provide to my insurers or would they be happy with me just saying it's a custom? I'm with Adrian Flux so I'm not expecting to have any problems.

does it just come straight out of the back or at a angle like the standard exhaust? Got any pics?
-
Is this only available as a cat-back as I recently replaced my centre silencer and so I really only wanted to be replacing the backbox itself?
-
what's the sound like from a magnex? And what does the tailpipe look like? Anyone got a pic? Any idea on pricing?
-
I'm looking to replace my backbox and want something that will make the C sound a bit better. I've got a 2.0 16v and in standard form it really doesn't sound anything special, in-fact it doesn't really make much noise at all. I certainly don't want it to sound like a boy racer, and I also want the tailpipe to look similar to the standard Corrado one - perhaps 'Boxer' style, but do these always come out straight out or can you get them to come out at an angle like the standard C exhaust? Any suggestions/recommendations would be most grateful.

I would say that it might have been me, but I had been drinking heavily Friday night and so went everywhere on foot on Saturday as still felt that I was under the influence of alcohol! So unless someone took my motor for a joy ride it wasn't me! Plus you'd probably have recognised it as mine if it had been. -
Well finally got my aerial fitted yesterday and was great driving to work this morning being able to listen to the radio! Took me longer than expected to fit it though, as some muppet had obviously broken a couple of clips on the bit of trim that you have to remove, and they had fixed it back up with some kind of 'grip-fill'!! Not best pleased. Finally managed to get the thing off though. Fitting the aerial was very easy and I didn't need any assistance as with the actual antenna part removed, and with it being a square hole, the aerial base sat happily in position whilst I tightened up the nut.
-
Thanks, I'll look into getting one of those then.
-
And Peter Cooper Portsmouth were presumably not in a good mood to only give me about 6%!
-
Also noticed that the antenna part of my new aerial is a bit different from my old one. It's smooth, where my old one sort of had a twisted around effect on it. Do you think the design has changed or was my old antenna non-standard? They are both the same length and the tips look identical.
-
Is there a standard %discount that dealers are supposed to give you for being a CCGB member or is it at the discretion of the individual dealer? I collected my aerial last night and looks like they only gave me about 6% off as I still had to pay about £67 for it! Hopefully I'll get to fit it this weekend, if the weather clears up a bit.

Yes that would be me! I work just down from the superstores. -
Just phoned the stealers and got them to order me one - should be in Thursday. Can't believe I've lasted over a year (since I bought my C in October '04) without listening to the radio in the car! Interestingly, this is only the correct part number for C's upto '93. Sounds like there is a different aerial for later ones.

Not me! But I did see you yesterday morning, was almost beside you on that bit near the BP garage, but you pulled off as usual going left at the roundabout, and I looped back around the roundabout to head out of Portsmouth. Also saw a VR this morning at the petrol station just at the side of the M275 (heading out of Portsmouth). The driver was just filling up with fuel. -
Be great to hear how you get on. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe when my car was serviced the other week, if when they took the tyres off, they perhaps didn't put them back in the same positions!
-
Actually it was him that told me to wait until it failed the MOT on them. Whereas I'd rather get work done when it's first noticed and then have my car pass the MOT with flying colours!
-
Not sure about knocking, I'll need to have a listen. I'll also check how far up they are sticking. Will it be obvious that they have had it by looking at them? Can this be seen from the engine bay? The only reason I think they need doing is that I had the car serviced a few weeks ago and they mentioned that something needed doing for the next MOT, but said to leave it until the MOT is actually due. I just rang them earlier to see if they could remember what they said needed doing as I hadn't made a note of it and they hadn't written it on my invoice, and they seeemed to think it was top shock mounts. In the past with other cars I've owned, I've always liked to keep on top of things that needed doing, and get them done when they are first noticed. Rather than going with the advice of the mechanic in this case that suggested I just let them fail the MOT on them before getting them sorted. By trying to keep on top of things you then don't end up with a big build up of things that suddenly all need doing. And as I'm experiencing some vibration when driving at motorway speeds (already had all the tyres re-balanced), I'm looking for other alternatives for what the problem might be.
-
Also could the need for new top shock mounts be causing me vibration through the steering wheel? And could this be worse when turning, compared to driving in a straight line?
-
Thanks for the info. Are the Top Shock Mounts just on the front or on all shocks?
-
Any idea how many hours work it would be to renew my Top Shock Mounts? Just trying to work out what it should cost me to have these done.
