  1. I had a thread on this before and im sure it turned out the subaru centre bore was smaller.
  2. The tension in the cable shouldnt affect the idle unless its too tight then the idle will be high. Check all the pipes and stuff again then do an ECU reset if your still having problems.

    How do I.....

.... remove the panel that holds the interior light and sunroof switch? The switch keeps jamming on so I need to take it apart and clean it up, when I tried getting the panel off I managed to pop the back bit down but the front wouldnt budge. :?

Oil pump was fine, it was a mixture of high oil temps, hard cornering, and the oil not being up to max on the dipstick. (Though it was above minimum.) Its also possible the big ends werent in the best condition anyway as there was a bit of a knock from cold that I had just put down to piston slap. Ill probably never know exactly why it died.
  7. Had a reply already, they dont have any other vr products other than the scraper just now, but I get the impression windage trays are planned for the future. Will see what the interest in the scrapers is like here, then open a new thread in GB's if theres a few. Fitting looks fairly easy as well, though I think it bolts to the main bearings on the vr so it will all need torqued up correctly.

Suppose, you can always swap them over to the track car as well once its ready. ARB's are good on the road as well though, ive considered track tyres but was put off after managing oil starvation with the car set up as it is. The more grip in the corners the more chances of that happening again, id definately at least get a baffled sump if you go for the slicks.
  9. Just sent another email, ill get back to you on that.

For the track you really want as low a profile as possible to get a bit more acceleration, and you dont need the cushioning as the surface is generally smoother. Tbh, I would go for a set of uprated arb's before track tyres (iirc your running decent springs and dampers). If you try running track tyres on the standard arb's, yeah, you will get lots more grip but thats going to give you excessive body roll. My eibachs were £220 fitted (or was it £320 :? ) so not much difference in price between them and track tyres. Didnt you buy an astra for the track?
  11. For a single VR6 scraper to the UK the cost would be list price, i.e. $49.95 + $10 shipping via USPS Air Mail Parcel Post. Here is a discount schedule for larger orders and freight is additional (we would charge actual shipping cost). All items are sold FOB our dock. 2 scrapers 10% discount off list 3-9 scrapers 20% discount " 10-19 scrapers 30% discount " 20 plus 40% discount " Anyone interested?
  12. monVR6, does the sensor stay on when the cars started or does it only come on when u start moving?

    288mm brakes

The changeover was in '96 at some point, but due to cars sitting for a bit in showrooms and stuff before being registered theres no definate date. I think the 288's came in about mid '96 though, before that will be 280's

Im pretty sure the mk4 carriers are the same as the mk3 highline ones so you should be ok there. Its the hub thats different on the mk4 hence needing different offset disks. Chances are if you asked for a Mk2 -> Mk4 Goodridge conversion kit then its the hoses for fitting the rear calipers you got. The hoses you need for the front are from the '96 on mk3 gti/16v/vr6.

  17. AMD ones are exchange and look to be pretty much the exact same as alpinas. you would be best to pm him about how the exchange would work sending to Holland.

    Roll Cage

It does look more of a show cage with all them joins in it, a proper cage will be welded up as much as possible and probably be a bit thicker tubing than that as well. CoxyLaad, is your car getting built more for the track or as a road oriented car? If its for the track mainly it would be worth getting a full on weld in cage.
  19. The thread where chris said he done the quarter in a 14.something im sure he was talking about his ibiza.

    Roll Cage

I heard safety devices were no more? One of the american users (red=fast maybe) recently fitted a cage that looked good, dont know the make though.
  22. I just took mine off at the carrier, 2 17mm bolts at the back then the caliper/carrier and disk will lift of and go back on as one.
  23. Just finished doing this, bolt came out easily but the sensor was lodged in there pretty solid so had to take the disk off just as Gav said above. Easy enough though.

    VR6 Cams etc

I think I remember seeing a supercharged vr with 268's on Vortex and the cams basically made the same difference they would to a normally aspirated car, reduced torque low down but loads of power from about 4300rpm upwards.
