Sounds to me like you had your front dampers set too hard or rears too soft, easily adjusted out. :) The ride is pretty harsh though, but I wouldnt go as far as to say terrible.
-
Having drove with both id go with the 215's everytime. Handles and grips better, noticable improvement in acceleration with the 215's, and similar cost. Only downside was a slightly harsher ride.

Awesome work, and quick progress too. Did you ever consider a plumbed in fire extingusher system like rally cars use? -
The roads round that whole area are awesome. My Gran lives in Capel Curig which is only a few miles from betwys. Great area for mountain biking as well.

Curious as to how this will handle without a centre diff. If you put the foot down wouldnt it be possible to light up the front tyres but have the back engine bog down at the same time? I take it the more powerful engine is going in the back. Awesome piece of work though. Will be watching this thread :) -

Tried 3 stores, no joy :( If anyone has a spare... -
I cleaned up the connector and it made no difference, a few days later it had gone off though. All ok now.

I asked Bedrock about it a few years back and the send all there cars to VW to have it done, at the cost of £130 Last couple of times ive used Star Performance as I was at them anyway, but also interested to find somewhere more local.
-
I wouldnt run without them for the water reasons. Try cable ties. :)
-
I had this on my old 16v, made a horrible grinding noise against the ground once the speed went past about 75. I cable tied it back up, and it was fine. :)
-
.. at all times but its dim? Gets brighter as it should when the handbrake is on but it doesnt go off at all when the engine is running? Any ideas? Ive checked the fluid and its fine. Im thinking it might just be a bit of water somewhere due to the floods we have just now.

Havent heard of any bodywork problems but have heard of subframes cracking.

adambob, what rr did you get your results on? Im betting AMD. ___Dubstar___, your figures look bang on for the spec, I had the same setup with a big bore throttle body, kn filter in modded airbox and ss exaust and got 223.5bhp and 200lb/ft (Never had such an exaggerated dip at the schrick changeover though. -
Cheers Struan, got quotes from both and there reasonable, but favouring Parcelforce just now as even though its a bit more expensive the items are insured for there value, instead of £250. What sort of problems have you had in the past?
-
I think paypal would put us in the same position, except id have fees to pay afterwards?
-
Whats the best way to go about this? Ive got a forum member interested in my schrick combination, he stays in Spain and as we dont know each other and obviously theres quite a high value of the parts involved were not sure of the best way to do it. Understandably hes not too keen on transferring all the money at once in case he never sees the parts, he did offer to pay half then the other half once the goods arrive but I dont think im too keen on this. Any ideas?
-
I have someone on the forum interested in my Schrick and Cams, they stay in Spain. Anyone know what would be the best way to ship them there that wouldnt cost a fortune? They would also have to be insured for the cost of the items.

Could be, do the bolts generally need changed on replacement of the sump? Also, should I use any sealer when fitting or just make sure the gasket and surfaces are cleaned up?
-
The gasket on its own is about £30+vat, I priced it last week. Also got a price from ford for the galaxy vr6's version but it was more expensive.

Its alive. :D Done the ecu recode and tried to start it, battery was flat but ran vag com and the immobiliser code had cleared. Got a jump and it still wouldnt start, only code showing was still the crank sensor, so had a look under the bonnet to check over all the connections and it turned out the crank sensor was unplugged!!! I remembered doing it straight away when I undone the engine mount to get it out of the way, plugged it back in and the car fired up straight away.
-
Got the procedure from Mike Edwards, will give it a go tommorow as im back home now.
-
Dunno if any of the mods can access the old thread actually? The procedure was in a Wanted thread by myself for a standard chip.
-
Yeah, usual crank sensor one. It hasnt been touched so no reason for it to fail. Ive tried clearing the codes and they both appear again as soon as I try to start the car.
-
Just checked everything and tried VAG-Com, everything seems ok other than the 2 fault codes. The usual crank sensor, and the 2nd fault is engine start blocked by immobiliser. Hopefully this means as I suspected I just need to recode the ecu, anyone know how to do this? Mike Edwards told me before but it was in a wanted thread that has now been deleted.
