  1. dont worry about obd1/obd2, all corrado vr's came with obd1. Pity your so far away, I just got offered a terrible trade in price on my vr so will be willing to let it go cheap, keep an eye on the classifieds
  2. Cool, that must be what it came from as was sold to me as a vr6 alternator. Im not worried then, its not like I have a big stereo or anything anyway.
  3. Hi, ive just replaced the alternator in my vr6, the one that came out was a Valeo 90A, but the one ive been supplied with (cheap, used) is a Bosch 70A. WIll that be ok? It fitted in no problems and the battery now seems to be charging fine.
  4. I dont know what its like on the 24v, but with mine it looks like it should be easy enough to remove from underneath, would save you from taking the front end off?
  5. I think the alternator has just gone on mine as well, battery light came on on the dash last night. Ive checked the battery, 12v ish before starting, 11.6 when running. Ive taken the fat power cable off the alternator and theres 0v at the bolt where it attaches. :(
  6. Yep, Oulton park in the wet, road tyres and the oil level was at max, it can happen. Is it worth risking not having a baffled or R32 sump for all it would cost?
  7. go for the 17"s if you plan on upgrading to bigger brakes that wont fit behind 15"s. If your not going to go to the bigger brakes id stick with the wheels youv got and spend the money elsewhere.
  8. Id go with Kevs suggestion, if your bottoming out a sump that sits above the subframe id be worried about more than damaging just that.
  9. Its worth it, the sidewalls on track tyres are considerably stiffer than normal road tyres, and there a softer compound with less grooves meaning more of the tyre in contact with the surface. Just make sure you have a baffled sump as the extra cornering g's will cause oil starvaition on a vr with a standard sump.

    Corrado S4

Seriously, is it only me that has a problem with the 4th picture down? I dont care how much work and effort had to go into the thing, its pointless if it cant be drove due to everything hanging so low under the chassis.

    MKVI Gti

More power doesnt make a better car  This is a golf not a Lambo is 208 tunable to 300 not enough :D Im just of the opinion that each mk of golf should evolve to be faster than the last, without having to resort to tuning.

I dont get it, looks ok but only 208bhp? Theres already been 230bhp versions of that engine with the pirrelli and edition 30 gti's, even the leon cupra comes with the 230bhp version.

Some ground clearance would be nice. Liking the interior.

I dont beleive im going to say this after being an avid vauxhall hater forever, but them astras are one of the best looking new cars on the road just now. Pity there starting to become very common.
  16. Nope, loads of them all over the country: http://www.arco.co.uk/branchloc Used the store in Glasgow a few times for work gear and yes, they are excellent.
  17. So is the Corrado... Have to say I quite like the 1 series coupe.

Same guy, he shows the blue one from a few months back near the start of the thread.
  19. nooooooo she is soooooooo annoying her voice is soooo annoying.fancy sabine instead. I swear sabine is michael schumacher in a wig...
  20. Got a garage? Take the vr off the road for 6 months to see how you get on with the s3 then decide which to keep.
  21. You should manage that with 2 or 3 people ok, we (2 of us) got my old engine (with head still attached) out the back of a berlingo and up about 10 stairs into my back garden.
  22. Do you have an oil cooler fitted?
  23. Isnt that where hot air feed from the exaust manifold comes from to help the car warm up quicker? Theres a valve that closes once it gets to a certain temp. Wont make a big difference if its disconnected.
  24. We got a 306 lx non turbo diesel recently and its been great, W reg, low mileage and fully loaded with climate control, auto wipers, low mileage etc for £1400. They really are a bargain, feels lightening quick compared to my works fiesta van as well, but thats not saying much.
