Should also have mentioned, an oil cooler is a must for track days. Id say 16row at least.
-
Can be less extreme than you think, having managed to get some oil starvation to the bottom end of my vr killing the engine at Oulton Park. It was wet and I was on road tyres. I wont get into arguments over what method is best for baffling a sump but ANY way of doing it would be highly recommended by myself for any track use. If I keep my car and take up trackdays again I like the idea of this R32 sump (first ive read about it, being an occasional user of the forum nowadays.) As for grounding the sumps out and smashing up, try raising your car a bit? They handle better if there facing slightly up towards the engine anyway...

Think it was on the M74, would have been on my way home from work so not in the corrado.

Not sure, never had it completely out. If you can get the car to the stage where its buzzing then take the fuses out one at a time to see if you can get the buzzing to stop it should tell you what circuit is at fault. (Most likely it will happen with fuse 3 so try that first but its not a definate.)
-
Does the buzzing stop when the fuse blows?
-
Feel round the back of the fuse box and make sure all the plugs are pushed in properly.

Mine will be for sale shortly for nearer 3k. That would get you a mechanically sound vr with some of the right mods, and leave you enough cash to sort out some bodywork that needs doing. :)

Ive ran Falkens before, they are a very soft tyre and thats why they grip as well as more expensive tyres. They do squidge about a bit though and wear out more than twice as fast as a set of bridgestones.

I would have thought the following quote would have made it obvious its dodgy, other than the price: "I am based in slough"

Lets hope they put it on BBC HD as well. 8)

... think ive got that right, your right hand indicator is stuck on, not flashing, just on, in case you havent noticed. :)

They offer the best compromise of power at the top end without losing too much bottom end. As for fitting them, if your at the rocker cover off stage then very easy, hardest part is cracking the bolts holding the camgears on loose. If you can get both of them undone then you can slide one cam out at a time with someone else holding the gear in place so the timing doesnt even get interupted. Just make sure youve got a torque wrench for putting everything back together properly, there is a certain order in which the cams have to be torqued up. You might get away with a giac chip if they do one for a 2.9, but remember american corrado vr's used the golf 2.8 engine so it wouldnt be great if thats the only chip they do.

Yeah, quite happy to let it go at a bargain price right now tbh. Just dont need it anymore. Most of the time im home nowadays ive got a company van or hire car for getting about and with the missus having her driving test shortly the corrado just isnt suitable. I think when its sold ill get a decent bike for the summer. 8) -

Been good, no change at all on the car front, got a new job back in October so travelling about a fair bit now and the Corrado hardly moves nowadays. Didnt you just get a job in Edinburgh and move there? Good to see the g60's gone to Andy, whats his plans for it? -

How the hell is a fan that only draws 12 Watts going to pump enough air to generate anywhere near 20Bhp? Answer, its not. You can buy pc fans more powerful than that!!!

Try Demon Tweeks, I know they used to do them. Possibly one for the mk2 Golf would fit? Dont know if you would lose the power steering or not though.

Hope so, ordered it this morning. :?

Which is faster; Rado VR6 v Honda Civic Type R..?
Joe M replied to DUBST4R's topic in General Car Chat
Having chased a few CTR's round Knockhill I can honestly say there a bit faster than a standard vr down the straights. I was pretty similar to them in the bends with a fair few suspension mods, so they would trounce a standard vr on the corners. -
The quaife diff is heavier than the standard one, so expect the gearbox to weigh a bit more than 45kg. I dont know by how much though.
