I WAS absolutely pig sick of my car....not now!!!
CoxyLaad replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
expensive way to set deadlines  -
I test drove one, was a nice car but the clutch was ultra stiff. Nice car though. I wouldnt say they were rapid by any means but they are not a slow car. depends what sort of power you are used to in a car

What bolts/parts are renowned to fail in G60 Engine?

Biggerbigben - Golf sold.. another new project!

just a couple of grand then :D -
totally agree with you there bc eg fully kitted out mk2 syncro with 1.8T 230bhp engine slicks etc timed at 1:49 around croft on saturday. My mate on his bog standard fireblade (only owned for 2 weeks), first lap 1:37. on the road the difference increases considerably. You are fooling yourself if you think you can come anywhere near a litre class sportsbike - or a 600 for that matter. Anyways I would go for the s2000 over the bm diesel everytime simply because the BM is a diesel. They may be fast but they are not performance cars.

lol you'll never make it! well I am making slow but steady progress - just ordered my third set of rear bearings for the rear wishbones (dont ask) so once they are in the list is as follows: Underseal the underbody (p.s. does anyone know if you can paint over shultz?) paint up the new haldex bracketry fit bearings to wishbones shorten prop 70mm locate and fit a digifant fuel pump and lines fit fuel tank get exhaust made up (somehow) then get it painted not much really   oh I forgot I have no brakes at the moment either! I would stick my neck out and say it will be ready this year  -
I like the s2000, I think stepping from one car into another where the power characteristics are different can sometimes give the illusion that the car is not that quick. For example, I get in my mams VR after driving my 130 tdi bora and the corrado feels sluggish and gutless, and we all know a the vr would destroy the bora. I think you have to have the car for a canny while before you can really adapt your driving style to it. I'd have one, but I'd rather have BCs R1 :D

Its funny how deadlines slip isnt it?! when were you planning to get the car on the roads ben? I thought my car would be finished last october! I have stopped setting myself deadlines, it will be done when its done. -
could be interested - although do I have to carry a 2 gallon tank around with me?!?! I dont have much boot space y'know!
-
I am going to croft with my mams MASSIVE video camera to vid it. thats if I dont die of embarrasment hoiking this bloody thing about lol I swear its shoulder mounted  let me know how you get on mate
-
like the sound of the fully adjustable setup, I will see how this fairs before I jump into anyting like. Its appealing though. Whens yours going to be hitting the roads then ben? I think I am hoping late next month. but it will have to go in for paint after that though. Cheers for the logged interest Kev lol

That pic in the bottom right of my sig pic is quite low, the tyres are almost in line with bottom of the arch.. At that height there is a bit of camber there. the way my car is at the moment I can get 1 and a half fingers between the top of the tyre and the arch, so not that much difference really, and the camber on my car is about the same as wor lasses mx-5. the 18"s thing was a flippant remark :D i am really bad at sarcasm! Anyways there is one big difference between mine and horrocks cars, and your and the other cars ben - we are running mk3 VR6 syncro rear wishbones which are wider and lessen the camber effert considerably it would seem
-
I think mine is about as low as the the pic on your right hand bottom sig. I dont want to go any lower cos a) the 4wd axle starts to look a bit un naturally compressed at this point and I am sure it wont work properly, and b) the haldex diff is enormous and it will be just my luck to tw*t it with a brick or something. If I dont like the look I will fit a set of 18"s on it :-)

no ben I am running the 16" 4motion wheels I actually have a set of subaru impreza OZ racing wheels to go on but one of them needs a refurb, so they will go on later
-
yeah thats why I took it to my mates, that piece of fabrication is far better quality than anything I could do. I had a hand in the design of it but almost all of the cutting and welding was done by andy leigh. Top lad and a big shout to him. Anyone in the north east wants any custom fab work doing, he's your man!
-
aye ben you are probablies right, I will be running my car higher than you. the lack of rear bumper makes it look higher again though
-
woohoo!!! :D just in time for the croft track day :D dare you??!
-
ok since not a single person was interested in the last set of pictures I will try another couple  and if these dont work I might try chroming something, that usually generates a few pages of response lol This is the car back down on its wheels at approximately the correct ride height, note that the camber on the rear wheels is spot on. Ben I would seriously check the positioning of the rear beam in your car mate, both mine and pauls corrados do not seem to have a camber problem. its a strange one. For me to have any sort of camber problem the wheels have to be tucked right up in the arches

subarus have an offset of 52 I know I have a set :D

well in the unlikely event of me selling the corrado I would have to be getting either a 911 turbo, not a new one mind, the last one with the proper 911 headlights. Either one of those or I would go for a track day spectacular caterham 7 or dax rush.
