    Diesel Problem

Nah, bollox to that!..they'll want £80 an hour to look at it and tell me " its a 10 years old car mate" It's a simple looking engine, but i've just never done anything on a diesel at all.
  2. harry, I'm looking for a cheap valver in good condition...pm me if you don't want too much for it. :D

    Diesel Problem

Yeah , The previous owner had them changed :? *wave from down the coast*
  9. A charger rebuild is around £350 I think. If the charger granades itself it can cause damage to the engine as the job of the charger is to blow air into the engine quickly ( basicaly ) so obviously if it explodes it can suck bits of itself into the engine causeing headaches. If you use the search feature you'l find alot of threads from people asking the same question. It all depends on the person buying, budget etc. If you don't want to have to play about and worry about your car then a 16v is probebly the best. they can be picked up from £1000 to £2000

Thats the thing that's bothering me, the car isn't running badly , it just doesn't like the first start, and it feels a hell of alot slower than my mother in laws p reg 1.9 diesel clio ... which it shouldn't :( :?

Nice one Nick, iv'e only just seen this thread as i've only just got broadband and it wasn't worth viewing any threads with pics untill now! I can't wait to have a gander at your car in the summer, it's certainly had alot of time and money spent on it since I saw it. Good man! :D

    Diesel Problem

Yeah, cheers mate, usefull to know. :D I'm planning on doing the fuel and oil filter next week, just wondering if any other probs are glaringly obvious to anyone.
  14. Yeah, i've heard that rust can appear there occationaly. The rust I found was literaly under the spoiler. Worth checking both areas when buying.
  15. The G60 Corrado has a supercharger fitted . The supercharger (( called G-Lader )) need a rebuild every 45k miles (( recommended )) as they have a habit of blowing up internaly if certain seels etc aren't replaced.

    Diesel Problem

Bonjour. I know it's not a raddo, and it's a diesel, but i'm wondering if anyone here knows anything about diesel engines because my entire knowledge on them could be writtern on the top of an average sized sausage. My car ( 1.9 diesel Golf P reg ) doesn't like starting in the mornings. It takes at least 2 attempts. After the first start it's fine for the rest of the day. It had new glow plugs, battery, starter motor before I bought it (( obviously the previous owner tried to get to the bottom of it )) The car is also veeeeerryy sluggish, it feels very smooth for a diesel but just even more sluggish than I would expect, so i'm wondering if there could be some sort of fueling problem?..maybe the fuel filter? could this cause problems with the starting and lack in performance ? :? I'll be trying to get something a bit quicker very soon (( either Mk2 GTi or cheap Raddo )) So I want to get the golf running perfetly before I flog it. Cheers
  17. I didn't had any rust on any of the 4 raddos I had, if you try and get a front wing off you'l see how much underseal they used when they put these cars together, about 2 bloody inches of the stuff! There was rust underneath the spoiler on one raddo I went to look at years ago, but other than that i've not seen it.
  18. Still, it doensn't seem toooooo high. It seems most raddos start to run a bit hotter as they get on in age, I can only assume it's due to oil coolers, rads etc being less effective. Most people recomend getting a Mocal oil cooler fitted, then you'l rarely see over 100 deg. If you do a search on: oil AND temp, you'l find quite alot of threads about it.
  19. Thats either gotta be KPH or a typo? If you are driving the car hard for any period of time the oil temp will rise, and 110deg doesn't seem to high , as long as it drops again when you stop flooring it. I think in the manual it says that if the oil temp reaches 140deg then slow down.
  20. What flavour raddo have you got. It doesn't sound way to hot, maybe slightly hotter than it should, but that could be down to alot of things... When it's hitting 110, what sort of speeds are you doing?
  21. Maybe not when you think about the fact that you are driving a slow bag-o-sheet all week and then jumping into a sporty coupe on the weekend, maybe the change from one type of car to the other could even up the chances a bit. When you drive one car and one car only you get used to it and it becomes like 2nd nature driving it.
  22. cymru-corrado, yeah, I would ring Autopaint and see how much they would charge, you may find that it's chepaer than £165 ZippyVR6, I don't think that ABP would be more expensive, but it is a bugger to get a good match with it!
  23. Ah haaaaa... I've never worked that out
  24. Looks like it's going to be a minter JBOB, nice one.
  25. Try Autopaints in Leckwith off Hadfield road. They charge £80 per panel as far as I know, though you may some blending in done.
