WTF! - Boy, 7, flips and crashes parents' car
Walesy replied to Supercharged's topic in General Car Chat
You find yourself looking for handbags on ebay often do you? :camp:  Anyway, there's nothing wrong with reasoned debate, but when it turns to petty name calling etc is when I bow out, so there's no handbags needed here  -

Haha, I did wonder how long it would take for you to resort to name calling etc, you've contradicted yourself aswell as backtracked and tried to make out that you've been 'misconstrued' rather than stand by what you said (or indeed, take it back) Like you say, we'll agree to disagree - if disagreeing with your opinon makes me 'wet' or 'timmy tired' then so be it 8) -

Sorry dude, but wishing a 7 year old lad dead is seriously f***ed up IMO. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but maybe you should think about what you're actually saying before clicking 'submit' if you've got views like that  Sorry? what for? I was not implying when he was 7 years old! "the next time he illegaly gets behind the wheel of a car lets hope its fatal" i never implied what age that should be! Besides that, would you share that view (or critisize someone for theirs that you have misconstrued) if A. any of your family or memebrs of it had been put in danger or hurt/worse buy the little turd? B. if it was your car  Besides any of that, i pay for what i own by earning it, i raise my children the best way i can, provide for them, take part in their education, their well being, guide them, interact with them. Everyone defends this scrounging scum, and makes excuses for them, I dont [/quote:1kembamo] LOL, misconstrued? Come on FFS that's a bit of a backtrack  If you have such strong views then at least stand by them, don't make out that you didn't mean that you hope he dies next time he gets behind the wheel of a car illegally because you clearly did - whether he's 7 or 17. And as I said, no matter what the circumstances I wouldn't wish death on anyone at any age, let alone a kid. He isn't scrounging scum, he's a 7 year old lad who's had the misfortune of being brought up by a pair of f***wits. I'd far rather he was taken from his family (in itself, a heartbraking thing to happen and only the best scenario in the most extreme circumstances IMO) and given a chance to have an upbringing with decent parents, there are plenty of people out there desperately trying for kids but cant conceive, which seems terribly unjust in my eyes when there are scum like this producing one after another and turning them into tomorrows criminals, only for the viscous circle to continue. I'm not defending his actions or making excuses for them at all, I'm just pointing out that in my opinion, wishing death on a kid for getting into his parents car and driving is completely wrong. You can moan all you like on this car based internet forum, about how you hate this and that and how you're whiter than white and this country is sh1t etc, but if you have such strong views why don't you try and make a change, or move elsewhere if you think the grass is greener, moaning on here won't get you anywhere. -

I should make it clear, I wasn't speaking from a moderating point of view, but a personal one. IMO, wishing a 7 year old dead, is just f**ked up no matter what he's done, as he's a victim of his parents, certainly at that age. It's up to you to decide at what age you think it's acceptable to wish death on people  , but personally I just feel very sorry for a kid of that age who's clearly being brought up by utter scum :( (just look at those wheels on that Mk3, for example) rather than wish him dead. In my eyes two wrongs don't make a right - i.e fighting barbaric behaviour with barbaric behaviour just makes you as bad as the scum that need to be dealt with. -

Help me get closer to my nx C! Golf Mk4 Rear washer Fix
Walesy replied to sprinterVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Is the rear washer part of the MOT? -
I reckon if you had 2 Corrados next to each other, both with the same mileage and in the same sort of condition, one with a rebuilt 12v and one with a new 24v, the 24v would fetch more. Really speaking though, it's not just about the re-sale value - Stan has outlined above why a 24v is preferable to own - which is what really matters, unless you're a purist.
-
'Only' £400 to you, but to a 19 yr old student it's a fair whack, especially when you think of all the beer and high quality drugs that can be bought for that  - and he'd also need to find an otherwise decent G60 for £600 to be within his budget when you include the £400 charger rebuild! not looking likely  You can pick up a decent early valver for a grand, that's probably his best option.
-
I agree with what you're saying, G60's are fantastic motors and i've had 5-6 of them and have had no major troubles at all, but with a budget of £1000 I can't see him getting a trouble free G60 with a freshly built charger. You have to remember, that your G60 has very low mileage and wasn't a cheap one! that has alot of bearing on how reliable yours has been
-
Gotta disagree with that, a 24v'd Corrado would easily fetch more than a rebuilt 12v Vr6

http://www.the-corrado.net/wiki/index.p ... _Checklist ^^ Buying guide Put an advert up in the classifieds if you want to sell the polo mate, it looks like a nice one. With regards to the valvers, personally i'd go for a KR on your budget as you're more likely to find a goodun - and IMO they're a much better drive than the 9A, the downside being that you'll have to have an early car rather than the later one with the updated interior and bulge bonnet etc. As for getting 30-40bhp more out of a valver, as others have said - they're not the easiest of engines to get more power from as there's very little you can do to them, if you want to fettle then you'd be better off with a G60. If you did go for the 9A though, a good way of getting 15bhp extra is to fit a KR inlet cam which makes them a bit more pokey.

I think I'm going Japanese, I think I'm going Japanese...
Walesy replied to MonkeyVR6's topic in General Car Chat
I think you should have a drive of a teg and see what you think, it shouldn't really matter what people on an internet forum think as it's your car! -
At last, they've dropped a bit! hopefully it'll continue  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7518516.stm

Or take it to a garage and have it removed so that you can send it to G-Werksand get it re-fitted when it comes back - you could get the garage to get the car mobile without the charger so that you dont have to go without a car.

£800 for a new clutch?

Yeah but it's that attitude that got us into this fine mess in the first place. All those Sarah Beany wannabees going out and ticking up loads of properties on buy-to-let interest only mortgages, it's pushed the prices up way beyond a reasonable point and what's happening now was always inevitable, it didn't take mystic Meg to work out that there was going to have to be a correction at some point. Who cares if those feckers get their greedy fingers burnt? not me! I own my house, but like others have said - I'm happy to ride out the storm. I made sure my mortgage is easily affordable, as much as it was tempting to go and spend a load more than was sensible (the mortgage company basically told me I could have as much as I wanted, a sure sign that things were going tits up!) so i'm not particularly bothered if my house looses 20% in the next year or two, especially considering that it's worth 15% more than I paid for it. Hopefully they'll drop enough for young people to be able to afford to buy their own houses again, as for the last few years that's not been the case. Good luck to those that have had to stay living with parents or pay rent for the last few years due to ridiculous house prices, IMO

400 miles a week in ANY Corrado will be expensive, apart from maybe the 8v. Generally, when people join and their first question is "will I be able to afford to run it?" the answer that springs to my mind is a big fat "NO" They're not particularly cheap cars to run, and if economy is high up on your list of priorities (which it appears to be) then it may not be the most sensible of choices.

What did you expect when entering your car in a chav competition on a chav website   who cares if it comes last on there? I think i'd consider it a good thing really! It's horrible seeing a rado lined up with the rest of those cars on that site tbh, the Corrado shouldn't be classed with the rest of those cars IMO, :smug:

The changeover was in 1992

I had an ABP G60 years ago that had had the same thing done to it but the other way around, the rear quarter was painted Inca Blue  . I had it blown over and it looked peachy in the end 8)

2 'disabled' ABS lights isn't a good sign tbh :?

I got quite far with it before realising that the guy could only do outside stickers, he's trying to come up with a solution though so i'll keep you all informed :awesome:

The check list was written a few years ago tbh, it could probably do with being updated
