8) - no pics of the interior though

What got me interested is that there's a company down here selling boxes at £380 fitted, that seem to be exactly the same thing as you can buy on ebay for £40 - http://www.dieselpowertuning.co.uk/ I've also spoken to a Custom Code dealer, that actually recomended a cheap box off ebay rather than spending a few hundred on a re-map, saying that they do effectively the same thing  My instinct is that it's ebay tat, but it's gotta be worth looking into before forking out on a remap Nemesis, have you heard of or noticed any detrimental effects on cars other than engine managment lights coming on?
-
Bonjour, I've been looking into getting one of these tuning boxes for my Audi, they can be bought on Egay for as little as £40 and apparently give gains of around 30bhpeas  - now this seems to be far too good to be true, much like the ecotec valves, electric superchargers and cardboard turbos  I've not heard from anyone that's used one of these, but have spoken to a few people that seem to think that they wont cause any damage to the engine, and they work by tricking the ECU into thinking the engines colder than it is, so it pushes more fuel through  - the last thing I want to do is cause any premature wear on the engine as i'll be keeping the car long term. I dont drive particularly hard but would like an increase in torque/power, which should give me a few more MPG if it works as it should? I'd be interested to hear what some of you more technically minded peeps think of these boxes, are they typical ebay tat? or is it worth a shot? Regards J.R.Heartly

I just tried to find the thread on here with pics of the estate but cant see it anywhere, the interior in them was awesome! there was a garage that had two of them for sale a few years back and I seem to remember that they were both bought by the same guy. They had G60 engines btw
-
As above, the interior has gotta be worth what you paid surly? I had a Lupo for a bit mate, I really think you'd regret swapping an iconic coupe for a shopping cart, they're in a different league to a rado - fine for teenagers etc but not an upgrade from a well sorted G60 :nono: , in fact the only person that'd out-gay you in a lupo would be Mave in his poohma
-
Yeah they wont open/close at the same time, they're not supposed to, it's just another one of those quirky Corrado type things

Check this thread, it seems to be what you're looking for :) - viewtopic.php?f=17&t=31923&hilit=members+ireland I'll lock this one up then

Advice on what to do with a screwed (low miles) VR6 engine..

As and when the car is up for sale, i'm sure an advert will appear in the classifieds, like with every other item for sale on here  -

Yeah, sounds sensible :( , like I say it's exactly the same loop I went around - it's a good buy for someone, just not me at this moment in time (the colour also came into it tbh, it's not my favourite ) I reckon 'Moneybags' should pay for the work and then sell the car on for whatever it owes him, he'd get it back, either that or sell it to someone that can do the work themselves or has the money to pay for it to be done - either way it's gotta be worth saving. -

:( - It seems like you've gone through the exact same thought process that I did with this car. It seems like such a shame to break a 58k mile VR6, but everyone you speak to about the symptoms starts sucking air in through their teeth and tutting, which is kind of off-putting. It's certainly viable, but only if you intent on throwing a couple of grand at it, and are in a position to do so - the outcome would be a nice low mileage VR6 that should give thousands of miles of reasonably reliable motoring. -

Oh, and the code will be in this thread - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=66524&start=0

If it's an 88-92 then it'll be Alpine, if it's an 93-96 it'll be a candy, so as it's a 1990 it'll be Alpine white. More to the point, why the hell did someone import a rado from NZ? As far as I can remember, there was only 13 Corrados in the whole country, it seems crazy to bring one over here where there were originaly 9000 from a country where they're so rare (and worth more?)

New Scirocco pics (in the flesh ooo-err)
Walesy replied to cymru-corrado's topic in General Car Chat
No self respecting 'new scirocco' thread would be complete without a couple of photoshops of what the car should have looked like. -

Its definitely worth doing, even if it was to cost £2750 to sort out - but i'm sure you'll be able to have it on the road for allot less than that! The reality is that it's a sub 60k mile VR6 so the rest of the car should be in bloody good condition! :) P.S - Worth checking whether a compression test has been done, I remember it was mentioned a while back. -

I wouldn't want to spend tooooo much on it tbh, MK3 VR6s seem to have dropped in price like Corrados, you'd definately get a few quid for it (even if you weighed it in at a scrapies you'd get close to £150) so it's worth grabbing but I wouldn't go to town on it as ultimately it's not worth much more than a grand with an MOT and tax, by the sound of it.

Having looked into the same car before, I was told pretty much the same as you - the cheapest option is to wait for a lowish mileage engine (24v?) to come up and replace it, which is a shame and a suprise really with such a low mileage block  -
Alot of exhausts will come with a lifetime guarantee, but the guarantee only applies to the person that bought the exhaust? (some companies will let you transfer the guarantee for a small fee) Just as an example to use as a comparison, here's another Mystic Blue Storm for roughly the same price, 100k and in tip top condition by the looks of it - viewtopic.php?f=12&t=69097 EDIT - and another one, sounds a bit more like the one you're looking at - viewtopic.php?f=12&t=68931 EDIT - and another - http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/541457.htm These cars have been for sale for a month with no interest as it seems.
-
I have to be honest, just going from the description i'd be wanting to get him down a fair bit lower than £5k, nowadays you can get a minter for that price.
-
    Somewhat ironic tbh :)

So basically, all you had was a head gasket change? and your cars come back with these numerous faults after being worked on for 3 days?? - did they charge you 3 days labour just for the gasket change? Maybe that connector in the pic is something to do with the ABS? Have a look to see if there are any spare wires coming from your pump  I'm sure someone here will know, or have a look on ETKA to see what it is but it's bound to have some baring on at least one of your problems!

Just had a look at the paint code thread, according to the list on there the colour was only used in 1990 which is why you dont see too many around. The fact that it's a 'rare' colour and hasn't got a sunroof won't really have any effect on it's value or saleability, so i'd say spend as much or as little as you want on it! Nowadays they're unfortunately not an investment on the whole, so you have to be in it for the love of it really! :) always baring in mind that you'll be unlikely to get the money you spend out back when it comes to selling it.
