please bear in mind that the price on sunday is £25 only due to the numbers involved.........if you were to get a dyno-run on any other day its £40+vat IIRC
-
not really Corrado related so i'll stick it into "general car chat" just to add to it too...........in the R32 brochure the red available is also called Tornado red........but to me it looks a fair bit darker than the 80's/90's Tornado red :?

its all happening from between 10-10:30am and will more than likely still be happening well into the afternoon.......and you'll be more than welcome to come along

good point tony!.......i'll probably have mine on the rollers first so that i can concentrate on getting pics and info from the rest of you(hopefully be in an early 2004 issue of VW-motoring).....then assuming people haven't places to go we can get a list organised of who's next......sounds fair?...let me know guys -
it should be paul.....mine has done it since i bought it..........i crapped myself the first time i noticed it!!.......but then was told that its just condensation inside the engine......you'll also find if you take it for a good 5/10 mile drive after spotting it on the oil-filler cap(and not wiping it off  )that after the wee 5/10 mile drive the oil filler cap will just have oil on it.......with no or very very little sign of the "mayo"
-
Blimey  ......much cheapness!!
-
if you're free this sunday......pop along to the RR-day we are having at star-performance
-
how about the old favourite...........a guage panel
-
spot the trainee legal eagle then
-
Cheers for the offer I will take you up on that It would be good to see how you modified the box, I don't really want to start destroying mine if it doesn't make that rip roaring growl under acceleration no worries..........just make sure that you have your original airbox fitted for the day tho......makes it easier to swap over
-
and that also has to be the most irresponsible thing you could ever do
-
it should just be undo one bolt/nut at the front and slide them out over the runners.......tho as you have heated seats make sure you disconnect them before yanking the seat out
-
why is it always vr's or g60's what about the rest
vr6storm replied to aposegil's topic in General Car Chat
i think what has to be remembered too is that the reason that there seems to be a few major problems with the G60 or VR6 is the fact that when new these were quite expensive motors for VW and were also expensive to maintain and repair too......with the passing of time they have become more affordable and some have fallen into peoples hands who haven't been able to have problems sorted asap or maintained them to the standards required so when people then buy these motors they have the legacy of poor servicing/maintenance/repairs to contend with....... so far in 25k miles of VR ownership i've only had one mechanical breakdown(touch wood) which if you consider the fact my storm is 8 years-old is not too bad a thing.....afterall pumps do and will wear out........but i totally agree with sandy "look after your motor and it will look after you"......as soon as i know of a problem i get it attended to asap anyway back to the thread......i actually looked at a few 8-valvers when i was looking for a C........i even came close to buying a 22k mile minted 8v auto......i also found that especially up here 16v's were fairly few and far between especially the 2.0 16v.......and i didn't mind paying the extra to get a VR......but if i found a decent 16v i would probably of snapped it up but VR's were a bit easier to find when i was looking -
i'll move this into the "caring and repairing" section
-
ideal winter/summer car too
-
well IIRC kev might have a very similar modded airbox kicking about.....its basically the snorkel-type thing removed any superflous plastic inards removed and the rest of the box smoothed with a bigger aperture
-
yip test drove a 190E 2.3 16v Cosworth(the proper one*) dogleg box took a bit of getting used too but it had a fair turn of speed and was totally bizarre revving a merc well past 6k revs.....though at the time i also had a friend of a friend who had one til his engine went bye..........and he had to price up a new block and head from Merc......£7k!!!!!!! *2.3 16v's had the heads actually made by Cosworth whereas the 2.5 16v's had the heads made by Mercedes to a cosworth design IIRC
-
I plan on doing this asap and am very apreciative to kev for the offer but would sensors make a difference to the power and if so which ones (sorry probably a dumb question .......... thats what im going to see kev for isnt it  ) thats what i was thinking... right i'll look into doing those things first then! so if i get it re tuned with normal tescos petrol and then start using optimax down the line somewhere it will mess up the settings? or if i get it tuned with optimax can i never go back to using the cheap stuff?? thanks for all your advice though guys :D :D[/quote:bf297] right if the camshaft position sensor is duff......you can get a loss of power.....just ask kev  as for the petrol issue.........if you read my first post you'll see that i had mine tuned on 95RON u/l even though i use optimax week in week out.....i was advised to do this by Ess_three IIRC this was so that if i ever used 95RON it wouldn't have any detrimental effect to the running of it.......whereas if i had it set-up on Optimax then if i ever went back to using 95RON regularly it wouldn't be that great running
-
i must admit that i was well impressed with Nick's C 8) ......i think he did us well proud by having his one featured i'm sure they wouldn't have been able to find a finer totally standard specimen for it........and i was actually impressed with hammond's piece on it........loved the merc cosworth too....nice 80's/90's classic 8)
-
it could well be that one or more sensors are playing up with yours but best get kev check it over with VAG-COM to be on the safe side as for the exhaust.......i had my panel-filter and exhaust fitted before getting the re-chip so it might be an idea to follow suit........afterall the chip is "optimised" to the characteristics of your particular car.......so if you do it before adding the mods you were thinking of then it won't be getting the best from them
-
ok mate.......i never did tho
-
 right enough that question was never answered  you should notice a difference in the way it drives.......it should rev harder to the redline and pull harder too......as for the cost implication there's very little that you can do to the VR for £300 and get an improvement like what can be acheived with the re-chip........thing is don't go expecting massive improvements in power......its more for better driveability
-
is that what Karen said ?
-
yip i went for the £250+vat re-chip its up to yourself with the cat-replacement one tho.........by all means get it if your existing cat is done but its a bit pricey for what little improvement might be gained
-
have a look here as i've had an AmD re-chip done earlier this year http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1209 as for the Milltek i too have a milltek cat-back system fitted.......but as far as i'm aware very few companies(if any) do "just" the back-box for the VR as another difference with the milltek over the standard system is that the box before the rear box is quite a bit smaller than the original VW system....so from the cat-to-the-backbox it is also improved, and also you have to take into consideration that the original system is all-in one IIRC.....so fitting just a "back-box" might be a bit of a pain to a VR
