  1. thats right according to my gps unit my speedo is spot on :) yeah i was probably being a bit pessimistic..........though on my trip down to AmD this year i had the use of a road angel(damn good bit of kit IMHO....pity the mileage/driving/trips i do doesn't quite justify me buying one) and when the speedo was showing 60mph the road angel's GPS speed was IIRC 57mph
  2. very nice looker there...........wasn't into satin silver C's before but seeing Dan's,JohnJ's and now yours i must admit to starting to like them a lot now 8)
  3. looking damn nice Nick 8) 8) 8) ........can't wait to see and hear it soon too
  4. i think you're being a bit unfair on the old boy with respect to his driving abilities............afterall by the sounds of it he has done the "classic" opened a door too far and hitting someone else car as a result of it which isn't really a reflection on whether he can drive or not more like its a case of sheer clumsiness and ignorance.....as believe me i've had a perfectly able-bodied 30+ woman do similar to mine and funnily enough she also totaly denied it even tho getting her to open her door to prove it was her resulted in her hitting the exact same place...........anyway thats another story.........i don't know if your insurance will look at it either as technically he wasn't driving his car........but if the old boy is only "scraping by"(pardon the pun) then discretion might be the better form of valour......if however he has his own business and seems to be doing ok then threaten him with small claims court etc
  5. looking very nice 8) ........though 99% sure that all 2.0 16v's are Flash red as opposed to Tornado red.......have a look either on the inside of the rear panel for the data sticker which has the paint code or look inside the driver side wing for a red/orange sticker with the paint-name in german to confirm what colour it is.....if of course your bothered about what red it is  ........saves you getting the wrong touch-up pen etc
  6. ...................must NOT bite!!!!   tbh i think it was just focused on the C VR6 Furki
  7. right first of its still possible to obtain the bolsters from VW which for the lower ones is approx £26+vat.......... as for porsche seats there is someone who has them in his C........mr renshaw if IIRC though tbh the standard porsche seat even from a 911(SC/Carrera) they don't support as good as the VW standard sport seat......the best porsche seats to get are whats known as the "extended" sports seat ones......though these can be quite rare too carpets were available in black too from the early to late models..........in the early ones its normally the ones with whats known as "petrol" cloth interior(normally found in alpine white, tornado red and nugget yellow C's)and of course black leather that should have the black carpets
  8. well i think we can safely say that everyone on here doesn't intend on crashing  .........also driving any other car normally only covers you Third Party......so even if you were Fully Comp'd on your Policy if you had an accident driving someone else's car you would/should only be covered 3rd party only........unless you know different
  9. a fortnight on sunday to be precise.......and its also our very own Nick Micouris's black VR 8) getting all the attention
  10. as nigel has pointed out this could well be a loophole thay are closing......and if you read carefully your small print "drive any other vehicle" normally only covers cars of similar or lower insurance groups to the policy that you have entitling you to do this......unless it states otherwise which it might.............also someone else on here (i think) told of a story concerning someone with a BMW 330Ci(IIRC) that was under their dad's insurance with them as a named driver to get the costs down as they were only 18/19yo.....all was hunky dory til there was a claim and so the insurance sent out an assessor to inspect the motor and as they were really dealing with the guy's father as he was registered keeper and policyholder they asked certain questions about the insured car to which his father who was used to his merc didn't have a clue about.......the assessor duly voided the claim and they lost thousands........ anyway welcome to the forum  ..............
  11. your a student,18 years old, planning a whole host of body-kit bits,Azev-A's,a s***-load of interior mods and a bespoke respray.............how can you manage to afford the insurance yet alone all those mods?????????????   anyway if you have a look at cheesy's motor in the members gallery that'll give you some idea to what some mods look-like done to a C he also has the e-36 Headlights..........personally the C takes to subtle mods a lot better than what you have planned........but its your C,money and inclination
  12. much as i sympathise with you and am sorry to hear what happened to your C......doing this only increases everyone elses insurance including yours  ....it is also fraud(unless of course yo have suffered from whiplash and loss of earnings) and is the main reason why insurance is so high in this country  just my 2pence
  13. also as for the "fastest speed out of a standard C VR6" the fastest i've ever dared to take mine up to is an indicated 130-ish mph(so probably only 115mph) coming back from a RR-day at star-performance 8) ........it had a bit more go to it.....but i was lacking the balls(or the points-space on me license) to pursue it further especially on a road known for quite a few speed traps and traffic cops  ..............though earlier on that same day myself and a couple of other C's had a good 100mph blat over the tay-bridge which was nice and quiet the fastest i've ever driven though was an indicated 150mph on quite an infamous road north of aberdeen........this was in my 944 turbo just a week before discovering i needed glasses     :? as for the police using this as kev says they have neither the time or inclination to pursue things like these......afterall i might just be telling some white lies
  14. PMSL    absolute quality brian

    ABS!!

no that should make no difference whatsoever........my pass.side one has been just held on by the wheel and bolts for well over a year without any problems........no wheel wobble or any brake problems yet
  16. vr6storm

    ABS!!

i seem to remember that there is also a brake pedal abs sensor that can play up to
  17. fair point.......we'll just leave it at that.........though who blabbed i was said fat bloke????  .....i prefer the term big-boned myself btw if i did meet you in this pub and did strike up conversation with you......to get the comment you'd be within your rights to make..........the replies forthcoming would be............what you mean these clothes don't make me look thinner :? .....and as for atkins tried it but love chips too much
  18. if i were commuting those sort of miles in a week i would'nt be looking at a LPG conversion i would be looking into getting a cheap to run motor for the daily grind so leaving your C for the W/E's etc the way i look at it......even if it was a 1.8 16v C like yours.....is ok you'll save £1k a year fuel but you'll have an initial outlay of approx £1.5k-£2k then add on the fact you'll have to inform your insurance of the amount of miles you do which is way above average  add on the increased wear and tear you'll C will be subjected to......which even with a near bomb-proof 16v will be higher to fix than any run of the mill motor and of course tyres......though i have heard that LPG can run a lot cleaner than petrol and your oil stays cleaner quite a bit longer too that £1k saving doesn't seem to great now doesn't it?
  19. £250 more than you paid for your Koni's! blimey!!! i though they would have been a bit more than that!!...........tbh though even me having my koni coil-overs is a bit overkill considering the way i drive mine  ........so if i had went for the leda's that would have been way way overkill

    Storm Value

i too was always after a mystic blue storm and seen my current storm advertised and thought about just having a look.....well as they say the rest is history  ...IMO classic green and beige leather really do work well and are worth considering however the mystic blue and black leather IMO really make the car and should be a hell of a lot easier than the beige to keep clean which at times can be a right pain in the a*** to do...........IMHO £9.5k seems a bit on the steep side even with the lowish miles on it i would keep with your offer of £9k TBH......though whatever you're happy with then its your money etc.......but have a look at the classic green one as a comparison
  21. if you can wait until the show season starts up again thats probably the best place and time to get them.........i was £640(inc VAT) for my koni coilovers from TSR's stand at inters this year........and seemingly mine has had a 65mm drop........i say seemingly as stupidly enough....i didn't measure the before height
  22. Stirling storm,as i did state in my posts on this thread i was being "tbh and frank" and i also did state to you that "i wasn't having a go" either but IMHO it wasn't a C worthy of paying over the odds for.....ok you must have put a lot of time and effort into it not to mention cash but you yourself must know that you never get back as much as you put in financially when you "mod" any motor especially a C......with hindsight i can understand how my comments may have come across(as very derisory though please believe me they weren't meant to come across like that) but at the same time at the end of the day its just my opinion......as for the "funny colour remark" what was meant here was a non-standard Corrado colour which if its a mercedes colour it is non-standard isn't it? and i never said or implied that you were hiding its history what i said was i was informed it was a write-off so therefore must have been the same car we were speaking off......... Dubster82,sorry but as far as i understand it being a moderator still enititles me to speak my mind........... Munkaywhat i was meaning when i queried Stirling storm's storm was that he thought his colour was midnight blue if it was then it was impossible for it to be a storm unless someone was prepared to respray a storm a non-storm colour.............and cheers for the compliment about my C tonight......though its actually needing a good clean......and for once i could hear my exhaust over your one........you glad you got it done i take it?
  23. i sincerely hope they did cos IIRC when i saw it advertised on the VWCCGB classifieds about 2000/01 it was advertised as a "show winner" and was up for big money especially for being a 1.8 16v........though obviously what it went for wasn't what it was advertised at.........funnily enough when i was looking for a Corrado i was advised by some Veedub owning mates to avoid a "funny blue coloured one"as this was as i was also informed a write-off.........again sorry if this seems very negative and i'm not having a "go" at you.........although it maybe appears that i am
  24. well tbh and totally frank and no-offence meant here  from a distance it looks like quite a looker but up close and personnal its quite a shall we just say a "work in progress"........in that the E/W switches are in the centre console(where the coin holder was)...IMHO not a very great installation :? and the door cards have seen better days big speakers etc......the paint is looking a bit tired and the alloys are scuffed and kerbed......the current owners seemingly have had no end of problems with the electrics.......its currently residing in back hilton road IIRC or whatever the road that Murison's garage is situated

    WOT no Haynes?

have a look here http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=2278 this is a decent enough book to cover all VR6 engines inc the Corrado ABV........though it only is about the engine and associated electrics and isn't really a Corrado handbook as such
