i'll move this into problems
-
head gaskets go at various mileages and are not really a service item as such.....same with the timing chain(ie there isn't a set interval for changing either of them).........if its got full VW history all it means is that its been "ramped and stamped" every year/10k miles........so regular oil and filter changes and other items that have service intervals etc
-
£50 providing that you are handy enough to change the handle yourself and you can get a 2nd-hand handle cheaply too.........handles are a common C weakness........and they cost approx £50+vat just for the part.....thats new of course
-
as i'm sure you have read in the forum all the woes and problems that people have had with their C's.......these are not the sort of car to run on the cheap......as although they are getting in the lower (purchase)price bracket these days they are still basically high-cost maintanence cars, especially as they have a lot of bits that are Corrado-specific if for example you go for a G60 for £1700, unless you have documented proof that the 'charger has been rebuilt recently you will need to budget to get this done asap or your bill could well be close to your purchase price.....thats even before you go for fixing any niggles that the C has......its more or less a case of buying the best you can.....instead of the cheapest you can......sorry if this is patronising but don't want you to spend all your wedge on a C that bites you financially at every oportunity
-
just give it time......its maybe needing some "italian" tuning   as they don't like getting stuck in town for too long........ok they are a tad flat under 4k revs but they should still feel pretty swift BTW.......so you sussed out it was twilight violet instead of dusty mauve  ..........very nice colour anyway

US-spec by the sounds of it

the rear of the top pic looks like they grafted on the rear end of a renault 11
-
yeah as H100VWsays send them back......it'll save you a lot of hassle and they can't argue(not that they would likely tho)that its due to poor fitment etc
-
i take it the inner wing sticker(between airbox and inner wing) says dusty mauve in german??and the paint code label also has the dusty mauve paint-code??.......if it don't then its either been resprayed dusty mauve or its some other colour......pretty sure dusty mauve was a "campaign"-only colour and they are only 92 reg'd

wonder if the Corrado trailer's spoiler can get hooked up to the towbar electrics and then work in sequence with the tow-car's spoiler
-
rawhide, you might find it cheaper....if you are needing the stamp in the book to supply the oil(they should do this if you say you are buying the oil from them......as i've been caught out before paying near enough £40+ just for oil they buy in bulk) and also ask just for an "annual inspection" instead of a service you'll be surprised by how cheap this can be.....as i was quoted £150 for an annual service over £95 for an annual inspection.....both prices were with me supplying the oil for basically a glorified oil and filter change ok there is obviously more to the service than the inspection......but if you want to keep the FVWSH up then it works out cheaper doing it this way and finding a good VW specialist to do other routine and more labour intensive jobs

start the engine once every week and let it get up to operating temp that way it should charge the battery and hopefully burn off any condensation inside the engine.........make sure you do this in a well-ventilated arean tho(to avoid carbon-mono-oxide poisoning etc) and if possible move the car ever so slightly so as to avoid getting low-spots on the tyres where its been sitting......also "chock" the wheels and leave the handbrake off and leave the car in gear(if its facing downhill.....leave in reverse, uphill leave in 2nd/3rd) I would strongly suggest not doing this ( starting the car up every week when not driving it) Do it far less than that, say once very couple of months, this is beacuse when a car is just started up and left running the engine takes three time longer to get warm and the oil to circulate than when being driven from cold. This creates alot of wear on the top half of the engine and will quickly wear out the tappets. It sounds funny i know but trust me it is not good for the car. It also creats large amounts of carbon build up in the engine with it idling all the time and mot being revvved which it needs to be to burn this off. A few years back i had 16v Mk2 Golf that i used to leave running for about 10 minutes beofre i got to work every morning and it preety much wore out the top half of the emgine. Arse! :( This was also confirmed to me in a Newpaper article recently about letting your engine warm up before you drive it- it was wriiten by a scientist who works for Shell oil- he to said it was not the one! 8) + i dont think the tarp will be sufficient to keep the fury critters out - they''ll chew straight through it! Buy a couple pf moggies to keep in the barn with the car- they sought the little critters out it no time! but this wasn't advice for lanny...........if you read who i was replying to......it was dubprince and he was only speaking approx 4 weeks or less of not driving it.....by starting it up once a week(and letting it idle to operating temp) over a 4 week period he is very unlikely to cause any harm at all is he??

you paranoid!!! ......can you imagine the state i can get into about leaving mine in some dodgy areas  ........ok its nowhere near as nice as the nogaro blue S3 that you have but its still my "baby" luckily up here in Scotland.....well the North-east at any rate this is something that luckily enough isn't a common-day occurance....well not that i've heard of.........but i suppose like most things these days it'll only be a matter of time........especially as we do seem to have quite an alarmingly big drug useage growth compared to other regions in Scotland  ......its just a pity the Police don't seem to make such a big effort to stamp out this sort of thing as they do to speeding drivers etc.....ah well thats my 2p's worth

K555LOS dark coloured VR i think.......seen near fonthill road,aberdeen around 8.15pm tonite
-
as Joe M says NGK's are meant to be the most suitable plug for the VR.....all the others are said to not be able to cope with the massive heat generated by the VR also if your dealer won't play ball..........go to Halfords and order the NGK's from there......i got mine from Halfords just over a year ago for approx £5 ea...........also if your going to change them yourself best invest in the "Hazet" tool from your VW-dealer......it makes the leads a piece of p*** for getting on and off
-
could be quite a few things richard...... connection at the battery terminals could be loose........ or one of the earth wires could be loose.... thats all i can think of.....off the top of my head :?
-
cheers for the comments guys :D :D Dan,i'm not too sure about changing the rear lights now kinda like it looking original but with very subtle mods........also you won't be able to see the finish i have on the alloys from the pics but i'll try and get more detail soon....anyway when i got them refurbed recently i had them powder-coated with a silver-sparkle finish to them........which in bright sunlight gives them quite a glitter effect......IMHO looks damn nice 8) 8)
