mine is seemingly dropped by 50+mm on standard alloys using Koni coilovers(i would know the exact drop if i had taken before measurements  )
-
VW SA supplied VR6's and Golf GTi's once German Mk3 production ceased to make way for Mk4 so there are a few Mk3 Golfs on S-plates and even newer and as for Volkswizard he has quite a good reputation and is very knowledgable about VW's

andrew u sure you weren't at Lax Power over the weekend :?: ...........tbh i would rather have the power with subtle looks........just like a forced induction VR would give  rather than wild power with wilder looks
-
i actually prefered the "6-lite" as unlike the states we also had the sierra 1.3 and 1.6 3door hatches so it was real easy to make a cossie fake but a lot harder to make a XR4i fake.........in fact i like the 6-lite that much i actually toyed with the idea of buying one of the very few XR4ti's that were available over here
-
oh no here we go again  ...........seriously it all depends on what you want from a car
-
na mate...........don't go to anything Lax power
-
really shows!

i know lanny.......i used to own an 84 2.8i XR4i 8) for 2 wonderful years
-
not with that bodyshell tho...........i was under the impression all the 2.8i XR4's and merkur XR4ti's had the so-called "six-lite" bodyshell or have done some "modifications" to it

munkay 5x18=90 in my book

agree with you there scott........ the headlight/slam panel for instance is approx £700(the VWCCGB Scottish region host needed a new one last year) though genuine wings can be bought cheap enough at £150-ish each........even so this is looking £2k in parts if not more   anyway Chris m8 glad your OK but really sorry that your C has been mangled, hopefully the insurance co will settle it to your liking
-
 no worries jeremy :D :D
-
if you send me a stamped addressed envelope(approx A4 size) i'll be able to get you a colour copy of the Autocar VR6 v BMW 325i roadtest.........PM me for my postal address or look in the Scottish RR-day thread for it
-
but did you buy it "brand-new" if so then why didn't you complain?and why didn't the dealer replace them?,though if you bought it 2nd-hand then they would have more than likely "been" on at some point and then have been taken off by persons or persons unknown.............i'm not saying that there isn't some storm badged fakes out there
-
 could be the ignition switch .........i'm sure someone else will be able to diagnose properly
-
i'm not disputing that jeremy,as the badges must have been available for a while from the parts depts of VW dealers, but what i am saying is its very very highly unlikely for a VW dealer to put storm badges onto a leathered up non-storm VR and try pass it off as one
-
no chance of that happening as the dealer would be done under the trade description act.....and of course VW-UK wouldn't be too happy...also people buying a storm would have at least read the brochure for one you would have thought also by the time of the storm the VR6 was in hot demand so they wouldn't have needed to resort to falsifying a VR6 into being a storm and not 100% on this but i think the badges would have been "asigned" to the genuine storms the dealer was given
-
not quite, well not according to the jan95 pdf corrado brochure i have,it states it was available on the 8v,16v and vr6........tho only if it was black cloth or leather........it was only un-available with the grey cloth or either of the 2 other leather colour choices(grey/beige)
-
moving this into "problems" for you  by the sounds of it its either your valve stems :( or piston rings
-
yes they were modified at the dealerships......the dealers fitted the storm badges and also some storms had the bbs wheel centres instead of the VW logo wheel centres(as per the brochure) but none of thestorms(let alone the mystic blue ones) came from the factory with red calipers any that have had red calipers were more than likely done by the owner rather than the dealer,as for the fact its wearing the original dunlops then i've known some cars to be still wearing their original rubber after even 3 years so that doesn't quantify it as coming from the factory or dealer with red calipers, believe me i have seen quite a few mystic blue storms and none that i've seen have ever had the red calipers on them and thats some with very low miles so unlikely to have needed to have the calipers replaced
-
it is possible that the car you have has had the calipers painted red but this was not done at the factory and was not a stormfeature of either colour, and you are correct the storm that was featured on the CCGB website did have coloured calipers but this wasn't a VW promotional pic so its more than likely that they were done after delivery...........as there is a picture of a mystic blue storm in the official stormbrochure which shows the calipers to be the standard factory finish silver
-
fraid they don't.........you not getting confused with the anniversary gti's?
-
...........though it could well be one of the other limited edition "Karmann" interior ones tho
