might just be easier getting a 2nd hand black dashboard as you would probably need to take the existing dash off anyway to cover it with leather........and i reckon it would be an absolute pig to get it to look right.....so best left to the experts if you want the leather dash look IMHO especially as you have't had any real experience

if its not a storm it won't be mystic blue btw......as mystic blue was a storm-only colour........check for the paint code in the boot or on the inner wing next to the airbox though as you've also said that its got a stormbadge then its perhaps had the black leather replaced with grey leather which is a slim possibility given how much in demand black leather is

TBH partsclub is really the trade-side of the VW parts system......in that unless you order whatever you need on the internet from your local particapating dealer you will get the standard retail price for the item less 10% VWCCGB discount........as i've just found out.....last week when i needed a new fuel pump from my local dealer they told me i had my VWCCGB discount taken off....which rightly i did £95 less 10%(+vat) however when i looked up the parts club website earlier on this week i find that under the parts club scheme this should have been £70+vat.....when i phoned to complain ive been told that parts club prices are only available to "trade" ppl with accounts etc........needless to say i'm following this up as VWCCGB members are entitled to this

something like $200 for the lead and the "license" from an american company called Rosstech and of course you need a laptop to run it.......basically it lets you "speak" to the diagnostic port of most C's...so that you can check(and clear) any fault codes that have been thrown up.....pretty handy fo the VR as there are a lot of wee engine sensors that can cause problems for you if they are kaput......the VW-dealer of course have the "proper" machine for doing this but by all accounts the Rosstech software and leads are well worth getting...especially if you have already got a laptop

well if you can budget for an AA inspection then get the local VW-dealer/VW specialist to do an inspection as they should be able to do this cheaper than what the AA charge(IIRC they charge it as a Luxury/Sports car rate-which aint cheap)also the VW dealer/specialist will know all the little foibles of the C and especially the VR and of course they will have the VAG-COM equipment on site too
-
one other thing to do........get a pre-purchase inspection done.....i think some places will do this for about maybe 2-3hours labour charge(or see if a VW dealer has a set price for this) or the cheapest thing to do is pay for it to go thru a MOT test with the seller fixing anything it fails on as part of the deal......do this even it has had a MOT in the previous couple of months
-
by the sounds of the advert its a trader or part-time trader selling it........dunno about english law but if its a trader selling it (in Scotland)they have to give you at least a 30-day warranty of some description....unless they state it as being "sold as seen" pricewise its Standard VR6 spec wise so should be the cheaper of all VR6's to buy.....if its in truly excellent condition bodily and mechanically then £5k aint too bad but still try for less
-
i think that you have to budget for getting the arches re-painted after rolling them to save them rusting.....
-
well if you wait a bit longer than 6 months like say into May.......then you can get cracking deals on various suspension kits inc coilovers at GTi-International or any of the big VW shows next year
-
pretty doubtful.........unless you have them side by side and they are identical but very doubtful :? :?
-
here's another of the same car but a different angle

nah......looks like twilight violet.....here's a pic of Joe M's twilight violet one......tho it does look darker here tbh up close it is near identical to the 8v you're looking at
-
isn't that an insurance no-no kev? as you are not using the proper speed-rated tyre for the car's performance potential........even though legally you are only allowed to do 70mph do the insurance companies not "void" claims due to tyres not being speed-rated etc :?
-
i can assure you that it is NOT ice grey violet...............check out this pic.....this is what ice grey violet looks like

if you value your licence then they are worth it,the one i got knows where all the fixed cameras are, does not detect them btw since when has arse been a bloody swear word???? Didn't think arse was a swear word either - what makes you think it is Dazzy? that would be me then.........i always thought of arse being a swear word :?
-
 and of course that too

AFAIK kev the recall only covered early C's and it wasn't the matrix as such that was replaced but some sort of return valve or similar
-
well you will buy cheap and nasty suspension!!! LOL     LOL they look well quality andy......so come on then tells us how much they stung you
-
well unless you have 5-stud hubs(which is a VR6 only fit) then the answer is no........even if you have the VR's 5-stud hubs on the porsche PCD is totally different to the VR's one so looks like you can't unless you get some hub adapters etc
-
condensation on the inside of a windscreen especially when the heater is directed to the windscreen is normally a sign of heater matrix probs
-
i think he's putting a VR into it  ...........as for the colour its fairly rare but joe M on the forum has one too
-
first off ya need to put yer caps lock off................seriously you have to be a VWCCGB member
-
looks like twilight violet from the pics  FYI dusty mauve on a Corrado is AFAIK a "campaign" only colour

if its a genuine storm and the mileage is also genuine and its got FVWSH to back this up and if its in A1 condition too then i would imagine anything between £8-£9k is what most people would be looking to sell for.............i paid £10.5k for mine from a lexus garage just over 2 years ago with FVWSH and 38k miles on it.....now that i've put it up to 62k miles(still FVWSH) and added a few subtle mods to it(milltek, koni coilovers, refurbed alloys etc)i wouldn't sell mine for anything less than £7.5k
