  1. nice and subtle looking richard 8) .........just how i like them  ..............whats your next mod/plans for it?
  2. right guys looking for an "oil-guru" here.....at the moment i've got ESSO ultron 0/w30 fully synthetic in........i know its a bit on the "liquidy" side but i got it dead cheap(and a VW tech recomended it) and so far in approx 3k miles no problems.......in fact lower oil temps are what i've noticed-not by much but still noticable, anyway i'm now needing some more oil for topping up as i've used the litre extra that i bought(which is well within VW tolerances too btw)so i thought go to my local ESSO garage and buy some.........well the ESSO garages that are in and around Aberdeen sell Ultron fully synthetic but something like 5/w40 or similar not the 0/w30 that i have in just now..............now here is my main question.......i'm right in assuming you never mix grades of oil especially when it comes to fully synthetic?(i know that mixing fully synthetic and semi synthetic or less is a no-no  ) also if i was to get the likes of Mobil-1 which AFAICR is 0/w30 is it alright to mix this with my existing oil?..........or do different manufacturers use different formulaes in their fully synthetics? TIA
  3. that'll be it then joeM
  4. we of course could do a regional thing....eg Scotland North England West " " East " " South " " Wales " " Ireland(rep and N) now as most of these do get done on a regular basis by the VWCCGB.....it would be best to get them organised for say the latter half of the year(eg VWCCGB Scottish region has their RR-day in march......so if possible we could have a C-forum RR day in Scotland for say Oct/Nov) the thing i do know tho is that Star-performance will accomadate a RR day as long as there is no less than 10 cars to go thru
  5. Does look the same but that was a scorpion and had the scorpion markings on the tailpipes. d'oh  ................dunno where i got janspeed from then :?
  6. check your earth straps DTM,as i've heard about a few C's "cutting" out like you've described and the fault has turned out to be poor earth straps
  7. looks very similar to the back-box that JoeM gave to newcorradownera few months back,i think that was a janspeed but AFAIK it was only a back-box and wasn't S/S
  8. you should also have small foam pads that are fixed to the inside of the rear hatch and "cushion" the parcel shelf when the shelf and the inside of the hatch come into contact with each other.........i had one of mine "fall" off and for a while the rattly noise was annoying me til i realised that the mysterious bit of "foam" i found in the boot had a proper use.....glued it back on and then no more rattle
  9. funnily enough there was a G-plate nugget yellow 16v up in the Aberdeen area that the girl who owned it said was a "motor-show" Corrado........i think Blown knows the car i'm speaking about  .........could well of been too thing that puzzled me about it was the fact it had windy-up windows as you would have thought VW would have full-spec models on their "motor-show" stands
  10. no much wonder your going YAY!!!!!!!.henny......biggrim must be due you a brewery   LOL
  11. looks like it is one of the "press" launch ones..........the one used by most of the "press" is F241 BVV which funnily enough was for sale earlier on this year......and also was tornado red

    R32

paul........you jammie jammie so and so    bagsy a spin in it if you get a R32    ........give you a drive in my C if you want
  13. its not so much the speed that it comes down to........just more than likely the fact that the 2.0 16v being newer will have a higher "book" value as its the 1.8's replacement
  14. virtual pints all round then biggrim??
  15. might be because this is a predominatly UK site(though the word does seem to be speading amongst our stateside buddies :D )..........and i'm sure Techtonics is :?: USA :?:
  16. pretty sure they did....not from VW of course......as speedline did 17's of the same design if i remember rightly
  17. pretty darned hard just trying to pick one wheel so i've got a list i'm afraid :? Standardfitment VR6 Speedlines are what IMHO must be the best standard wheel that VW have ever fitted to a production model also like the 1.8 16v Sebrings too........and of course my solitudes  After-marketfitment Also a big fan of the AZEV-A's,BBS RX's,RS,LM's,Borbet-C's and a few others i don't know the names of
  18. Locked as requested biggrim
  19. it could also maybe be the actual control switch on the dashboard thats playing up...........as this has 5 heat settings also i've found that the heated leather seats don't really get as hot as heated cloth seats(used to have heated cloth seats in my Ur-quattro) for obvious reasons(leather being thicker than cloth etc) and it can take a wee while for the leather seats to get nice and toasty.........maybe your not giving it long enough might be worth checking before splashing out some cash
  20. right the VW price for the "main" water pump is a not too dear £30-ish plus VAT(021121004X)........though VW quote about 2-3 hours for doing the job now the Auxilary coolant pump is a non too cheap £110-ish +VAT........though should only take about an hour to remove and refit.....mine started leaking about a year ago and was luckily replaced under the warranty that i had
  21. if you listen carefully when you switch on/off the heated seats you should hear the relay "click" and it sounds like it comes from the rear passenger side :? or thereabouts...........if it clicks then see if the wires going into the underside of each seat are properly connected.........failing that then it could well be the "heat-pads" in each seat have given up the ghost........not cheap as i've heard VW want approx £100 per side
  22. AFAIK the donator has "just" made a one-off contribution, whereas the subscriber has set up a regular donation to the Forum's running........am i right admin?????
  23. I've switched from Norwich Union Direct to Admiral this year after declaring my mods NUD wanted the guts of £900  for Fully comp........Admiral managed to quote £700 with all mods declared and a lower XS too  all protected NCD too

    smooth idling VR6

Mine did that until one day I saw a 2.8 Golf idling next to mine and it was rock steady. We then checked the compression and found that no6 had a small ring problem and no 1 had a valve leaking. Once sorted she really went silent....Checking around it seems as tho those two cylinders are the most prone to probs, and compression problems do not really show up on the vagcom, especially the valve problem. Get the a compression check by someone who really knows what they are doing. Mine purrs now and simply doesnt complain at all. i think also the 2.8 Vr6 is meant to be the smoother idling engine.........don't know why but have heard that it is
  25. sorry john i'll move this thread into General car chat......as its not really a "problem" as per the "problem" section
