  1. sounds like part numbers to me mate
  2. what you'll find too is that most insurance companies won't class a car as a classic unless its 10 years old or more-though they might class later C's as future classics, also they will have age limits too 25yo normally par for the course, commuting will be very hard to find cover for too,the car will more than likely to have be garaged overnight and there will be a mileage limit.........i'm not saying its going to be impossible but IMO you'll be on a hiding for nothing
  3. i would imagine that its cos its maybe a pearlescent paint effect as my classic green storm can look very bright green in sunlight yet if its overcast can easily be mistaken as black

    Turbo or G60???

it was Lancia's ill-fated Delta S4 grp B rally car from the mid80's that had the turbo/supercharger mix find out more here:- http://freespace.virgin.net/shalco.com/lancia_S4.htm
  5. i think your best to run it on Super U/L or shell's Optimax........though give it a try with 95RON U/L and if it "pinks" then use the dearer stuff
  6. i had mine changed,as after the guts of 60k miles it was beginning to crack ever so slightly and i thought paying the £25 for the belt and about a fiver for a friendly mechanic to fit it,was more convenient than having it snap in the middle of nowhere etc........anyway the VW tech i spoke to reckoned on changing them at 60k+ miles
  7. only if your nieve and stupid!!!!  ........seriously though i paid £5 ea for my NGK's(which are the recommended plug btw)and even then that was me paying over the odds
  8. well after looking more closely they appear to be identical to the o/e BBS's as fitted to Golf VR6's........as for rarity.....they are probably highly rare on a UK spec Corrado(unless retro-fitted) but would imagine them being fairly common on (mainland) europe and other markets during the VR's early life.......cos as you'll notice by the date and the pic of the one on the scan below its german registered and LHD a few months prior to its official UK launch........the germans had them as early as september 91
  9. here's a link to my "quick-guide to storms" http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3126
  10. make sure you get some pics up on the forum
  11. ????? What do they look like? very similar if not the same as the stock BBS's that G60's came with.........well the early VR that Autocar tested in april 1992 had them.......in fact very early UK VR's also had the campaign(same as early mk3 golf 16v's) alloys too mbbiker is from the states so i would guess their early SLC's had the BBS rims
  12. ah get you now james  .......didn't read your first post too closely  ........could well be the immobiliser switching it off......u checked with the people who sold you the car?
  13. i would think this is normal............when i had my 944 turbo it had a coolant run on fan to let the turbo cool down with the ignition off,so i would imagine with yours being turbo'd its the same idea..........anyway my VR's fan sometimes comes on after the ignition is off too
  14. TBH i much prefered the wheels on yer old 16valver

    Coolant Leak

have you tried the expansion tank cap?........as the seal might be knack'd and when the coolant is getting hot a little bit might be escaping on another note this "37k" mile VR6 sounds to me to be a little bit suspect,as most people try and keep hold of "low-mile" VR6 for longer than 3 months.............i'm sure the vendor might have a very valid reason for selling.....but i would be extra vigilant if i were you.........don't take "seeing" service history that "validates" the mileage......get its chassis number and PHONE VW's Customer service and get them to check when it was last VW serviced
  16. AFAIK the rear centre armrest was an optional extra on the 8valve and 16valve BTW moved this into the "common corrado questions" section
  17. what you mean you never went to Bicester Village Factory Outlets.......
  18. ahem......Classic green btw
  19. well unless you have documentary proof of the fuel-filter,brake fluid, coolant, serpentine belt, spark plugs etc being changed recently then it can be a fairly big-ish bill u might have to look forward to

    chips

whoever is selling you the chip should be able to advise, unless of course it is 2nd-hand which can be lead to a potential minefield of problems, such as in-correct fueling/unsuitable maps etc, best people to ask regarding this are 8vG60(darren from G-Werks) or Bilal (who supplies SNS chips)
  21. very strange then :? ............just hopefully it'll go through next years emissions tests too
  22. what year of registration does it come under? if its eg JUN 90 registered but with a MAY 99 engine then its the JUN 90's relevant laws and requirements that it'll come under
  23. i take it you've tried moving the instrument lighting rheostat.........if you haven't then this is probably the "problem".......as i've "lost" all my dash lights just by fumbling for the H/light switch
  24. depends on the insurance companies attitude .........i know from experience that Admiral and Norwich Union Direct both accept the standard alarm immobiliser......whereas others demand either a "certificate of installation" or a new system fitted
  25. always fancied getting a XR4ti when i had my UK-spec XR4i(2.8-V6)........as there was a few XR4ti's "imported" over here by US personnel.........you have any pics of your "merkur"?????
